Bunnies and Blossoms Banner Hop for Special Needs Children

23 Mar

Welcome to the Bunnies and Blossoms Banner Hop for Special Needs Children.

Today and tomorrow (March 24-25), 30+fantastic papercrafters have come together to create Spring-themed banners.

They will then donate these banners to Ellen (CardMonkey), who works asAdmissions Coordinator at Pediatric Specialty Care (PSC), www.pediatricspecialty.com.

PSC is a long-term care facility for specialneeds children who are medically-fragile and/or technologically-dependent.

The babies, children and youths at PSC range in age from birth to 21, and areadmitted from all over the country.

Some are infants, born prematurely and before their lungs have had a chance to mature.

Others have serious birth defects, illnesses or injuries from accidents that cause them to need tender loving carein a home-like environment — many for their lifetimes.

Having had 2 preemies myself, this is kind of scenario is close to my heart.

This is my 7th child and she and my 6th child were both preemies born 3 months early.

I am well aware of the thankfulness parents have for the special things that are done for these babies and children during their long hospital stays.

I hope that all our banners ease the stress and bring a smile to the families we are donating these banners to.

Our banners are meant to cheer the young patients, their families, and the staff at PSC.

Here is the banner that I made and will be sending to Ellen to decorate a child’s room:

I do have some blog candy to give away along with the BIG PRIZE you can see on our HOP HOSTESSES BLOG:

Here is my prize a bright and colorful embellishment kit.  I will pick a random winner from Random.Org.

As for the BIG PRIZE for visiting us today, how about a beautiful handmade (courtesy of our Blog Hop Hostess, CardMonkey!) Cricut Cozy Covers?!

Each one is individually styled in your pick of colors and embroidered words!

These are RARE because CardMonkey does not make them for sale and she usually sticks to paper, not sewing!!

To qualify, there are two steps: 1. Comment on as many Bunny & Blossoms Blog Hop blogs as you wish — the more blogs on which you comment, the more chances you have to win. There will only be one winner, picked at random by Random.Org.

2. Follow and comment on the CardMonkey blog … Leave a comment on our Hop Hostess’s site (http://cardmonkey-business.blogspot.com) and let her know if your name is picked, what 2 accent colors you’d like on your Cricut Cozy Cover, andw hat text you’d like embroidered (up to 3 lines). You MUST be a follower of the CardMonkey blog to win and you MUST leave a way for her to contact you if your name is picked.

So now …. onto your next stop on the Bunnies and Blossoms Banner Hop:

YOUR NEXT STOP……

Lucy - http://love2createitall.blogspot.com/

DO stop back tomorrow when there will be about 20 more crafters showing their banners!!

Easter Blog Hop with Cheery Lynn Designs

15 Mar

Today we have a treat for you, our design team has been busy creating with the newly released Easter dies from Cheery Lynn Designs and we are doing a blog hop.

Visit each of the Design team members blogs and leave a comment.

One lucky person from each blog will win the Lace Egg that member used in her post.

I am using Lace Egg Three for my project today.

In addition to the chance to win the above die, if you leave a comment on the Cheery Lynn Designs blog, you will also have a chance to win the Nesting Egg dies.

For my project, I wanted to use these dies in a way to show you that even though they are Easter dies, you do not have to be limited to using them on Easter Projects only.

To start I have taken some paper towel tubes and have cut them down to just over 4 inches each.

I then covered each one with decorativve paper and used the smallest of the Scalloped Circle dies to cut out covers for the bottom only of the tubes.

They will stand up like this when finished.

Next I took the largest Nesting Egg and another Scalloped Circle and cut the shapes out like this.

I then used an assortment of dies to finish off these Babushkas.

I have used the Lace Egg Three for the sign and the apron  of each doll.

I figured these could be used for so many different occasions.

Table settings, name place cards, Mother’s Day Brunch, Baby showers just to name a few.

Each doll is decorated with paper lace and flowers from the following dies:  Pretty Petal, Lace Flourish Butterfly, Dancing Doily Lace Border, Zig Zag Ric Rac and the Stacker flowers Leaf.

Each doll holds a small treat.

I hope you liked my idea today!  Leave it to me to look for the out of ordinary way to use something, right?

Now you should go and visit each of the other team members blogs and leave a comment.

Remember:  One lucky person from each blog will win the Lace Egg that member used in her post. I used Lace Egg Three.

Also, remember, to leave a comment on the Cheery Lynn Designs blog for a chance to win the Nesting Egg dies.

Winners will be announced on the 19th along with this week’s challenge winner. Good luck and have fun hopping.

Here are the blogs that are participating in the blog hop.

Thanks for stopping by, I hope you enjoy all the projects on this hop!

Winner, winner time!!!

Welcome to the Canvas Corp and My Stamp Box Blog Hop

24 Nov

If you are here for my Cheery Lynn Designs post, please click HERE.

Welcome to the Canvas Corp and myStamp BOX “Partner Blog Hop”!

If you have just happened upon our event now, please begin your journey on the Canvas Corp Blog blog here (http://canvascorp.com).
Many of our wonderful designers are joining us today to show off some inspirational creativity. See how well Canvas Corp and myStamp BOX products are working together!

We are giving away some amazing product from both participating companies. All you have to do is COMMENT on all designers blogs along your journey to WIN. Our two Hop winners will be drawn from all participants and will be announced on the myStamp BOX blog and Canvas Corp blog on Monday, November 28th, so all comments are due by Sunday November 27th at 6pm EST.  Good Luck!

Here is what I did with Canvas Corp and myStamp BOX’s products.

My  kids have this table that they play on.  It was starting to get pretty battered.

They love to play restaurant, so I made a little “Diner” for them.

I painted the table all black and using a combination of Canvas Corp paper and my Stamp Box stamps, I made this updated play table for them.

It has a tic tac toe board in the middle and I had my children help decorate it by drawing pictures on the table.

I also made this banner that says “DINER”.  That fabulous black and white background on the hearts is black Canvas Corp paper, embossed in white ink with the Repeat After Me stamp set.

I could have used the hearts plain, they were so cute with the stamped images alone.

I used the stamp set called Royal Flush for all my lettering on the table and other items.

I took this picture at night, sorry for the poor image, but I wanted to show that I also included misc things on the table.  Such as words starting with the letters A, B & C.  I also wrote down some of my kid’s currents favorite foods.  My 7 yo INSISTED on having Ding Dong’s on his list! (YIKES)

All in all, I loved working with Canvas Corp and my Stamp Box.  My favorite about this project is the “Menu.”

I made the “Menu” with Canvas Corp‘s Chalkstock so my kids can erase over and over again when they are playing.

This was such a labor of love and I really had fun doing this for you all to see.

Now it’s time to HOP along and find out what the next talented designer has created.

Your next designer is Jaine Drake (http://www.craftydrake.blogspot.com/.

Don’t forget to leave a comment below for a chance to WIN one of our TWO product giveaways!

I hope you are enjoying the Thanksgiving Holiday.

Enjoy your family and friends and take time to smell the roses and reflect on all the things you are thankful for today.

Thank you so very much for taking the time to visit today.

*****************************

Let’s move on to the Handmade Holiday Project I have made today.
I cut 6 pieces of paper 2 each at the following lengths: 4″ x 4″, 3″ x 3″ and 2″ x 2″. For each square size be sure to use 2 different patterns for each square.

I then needed to cut each square in 1/2″ strips.  I used my Cheery Lynn Designs called Wittle Wicker to save time and get perfect cuts.

I used some removable tape to keep the paper from moving while I cut the strips.

Here you can see all my strips cut and ready to go.

Nest I need to pierce a hole through all the strips on both ends about 1/4″ from the ends.

Here are the pins I am going to use for my projects.

This one pin has a little cap on it, but I need to take it off to start.

I have alternated my paper patterns on the pin, starting with the smallest length first.

This was kind of hard to take a picture of but after you have gotten all the strips for your smallest length on the pin, you need to attach the other end of the strips on the pin.  You need to start with the strip that you first put on and them keep putting the strips on in the order you placed them on the pin to begin with.

Here is what your ball will look like after you get the 1st set of strips on.

You will want to attach a rubber stopper to keep these strips in place.

Repeat the process 2 more times with the other lengths of paper.

Once all the layers are on that you want, you may embellish are desired.

Here are some pictures of my finished ornaments.  Bear with me, the day I got these done and took pictures, my camera died.  In my frenzy to hurry and try to find my battery charger, I left these outside and it started to rain!  Not so great for paper ornaments!!

The ornaments looked great on day 1.  But after their shower, their photo shoot on day 2 left my ornaments looking a little tired, oops!!

I took a bunch of pictures so hopefully you can see that they really are beautiful.

This is such a great idea for you to make with your kids.  Older ones since they are made with pins.

Authentique Paper has a color palette for anyone so chances are you will be able to please anyone on your Christmas list with these ornaments.

I personally love the layered ones since they are so colorful and pleasing.

Here they are, one final look!

I hope you are picking up some great ideas along the hop.

You have a couple more stops…be sure to head on over to

Tamara Tripodi – Glue Arts http://happylifecraftywife.com/

Thank you for stopping by and HAPPY HOPPING, you are almost to the end! Give yourself a pat on the back!

My Project:

I used Authentique Paper’s Unity Stamp set called:

You + Me = Bliss

Here is my card.

I used some of the newly released Free Bird Series  papers called: BLUSH

Maker sure that you check out my tutorial on the secret of Authentique Paper here:

http://polkacabana.wordpress.com/2011/09/25/authentique-paper-secret-qualities/

Authentique Paper products are double-sided.  I love to utilize both sides and my tutorial will show you how I do it.

For this card, I used 1-ply of the Blush paper and stamped the floral background. I used my sewing machine to attach the paper to the card front.

My next step was that I attached my ribbon and made my slide mount focal point.

I love incorporating Authentique Paper’s logo in to my projects.  It is such a beautiful logo.  I think it always looks lovely when I make it part of my card.

When I got the slide mount just how I wanted it, I attached it to the card front.

This stamp set is just gorgeous.  I had a wonderful time using this set and highly recommend it.

Thanks for stopping by today.

Australian Cheer from Cheery Lynn Designs

16 Sep
Yesterday was the Cheery Lynn Design new release post.  Did you go over and see all the projects done with the new dies?
Here is the link to see them:
Well I am going to continue the party with some more new releases.
Today’s card is a cheerful card for a special Australian I have in mind.
I can’t remember what this card shape is called, some sort of fancy fold.
It is a card and envelope all in one. (Not a mailing envelope though!)
This is a side view of it all folded up.
Here, I have laid it down and I am starting to open up the card.
This is the first part of the card you see when you open up the front of the card.
This here is a view of the inside.
Are you keeping up?  The card says, En”joey” your day!
Here I am starting to fold it up again.
I fold the left side in first.
Then I fold in the right side, which is also the card front.
Last step is to tuck the top in to a pocket behind the main picture, and it stays together all by itself.
Isn’t that a great design?
I love it!
I hope you like this card and design.  I had a ton of fun making it.
The new dies I used today are:
Other dies used:
This has been Jeannie from The Polka Cabana with today’s post.  Hope you have a great Friday!
Now if you’d be so kind as to hop on to my post for the 2nd annual Paper Issues Blog Hop,

Imagine the pure bliss when I opened my package of the new release stamps.
FLOWERS!!
Our wonderful new release of stamps, by Jacqueline Hill, are just delightful.
I had so much fun making today’s card.
I used the following stamps and supplies:
Here is my card for you to be tempted with!  I know if you acquire some of the stamps from this releaase, you will love them.
Remember I am the paper piecer?  Goodness these stamps were so much fun to piece with!
I have them all coming out of a basket which is a die that Cheery Lynn Designs makes.
I added some dimension with foam tape and buttons.  I also made an eye appealing inside:)
How do you like those stamps?  Great aren’t they?
Now, here is your chance to win some of these!
Visit each team member’s blog and collect a letter.
Once you get all the letters, un-scramble them to reveal a word.
