Wow Embossing TEAM POST – The GLITTER GIRLS!!

7 Apr

With my fun job over at WOW EMBOSSING POWDERS…we all have teams that we are on.

My team is called THE GLITTER GIRLS and today is out team post to WOW you.

For this layout, I used stamps from the two sets called, Is it a bird? and Call Me.

I also used three different powders: Earthtone Olive, Earthtone Blueberry and Primary Bark.

These colors matched perfectly with Authentique Papers I used.  Since I took these pictures right before I headed up to the Authentique Paper offices, it is kind of nostalgic that I used their papers.

I used the large stamp from CALL ME to add to the overall background of my base papers and for the papers I mounted my pictures with.

For my journaling card I used one of the trees from the IS IT A BIRD? set.

Also for the journaling card I used my embossing pad to adhere the embossing powder to the edge.

I hope you liked this layout!  I was so shocked at the shear innocence and beauty I caught in this picture of my daughter with the eleven-foot marble Christus statue.
The original was sculpted by the Danish sculptor Thorvaldsen.  You can read more about the statues history here.
I do have to share another of the pictures I took that day.  I could have used this one also, but the layout would have had a completely different feel.
Here is the picture I am talking about.
What do you think here thoughts are in the above picture??
Anyhow, I love the picture above just as much, again is shows the pure magic and innocence of a child.
Now, I would love for you to head on over to the WOW EMBOSSING POWDER BLOG and see what the other glitter girls have made.
They are all so talented, I promise you won’t be disappointed.
Have a great weekend all you lovely people:)
Ta ta for now!

Wowed by WOW EMBOSSING POWDERS

11 Jan
Hello blogging world, today I am sharing my first project here for the fantastically yummy embossing powders by WOW.
I created a fairly simple layout so that the colors of the powders would really stand out.
I started with a picture that I manipulated in PSE.  I wanted the picture and my title to be the background paper.  Here is what I started with.
Yep, that’s me..goofy I know but it is what I wanted!!
I had the image of what I wanted to do in my head, and here is what I dreamed up!
When I look at this layout, I am just giddy.
I used the Wow Beautiful Clear Stamp set called GRATITUDE.
All the embossing powders I used are from the CANDY COUNTER COLLECTION–Berrylicious, Whirly Pop, Sour Lemon, Gummy Bear Green, Bubble Gum & Cotton Candy.

This is for a book I have decided to do about me.
We all have things that are unique, things that make us who we are.
I am a Sunday School teacher for teenagers and this past Sunday I was talking about the importance of journaling.  I had this MOMENT while planning my lesson that I wanted to do a book about the nuances that make me who I am.  I told my class about this and told them that journaling can be really fun.
I told them it was my promise I would start myself and that I would create something and bring it to church the following Sunday.
Now that I have my first page I can’t wait to do others.
The WOW embossing powders will come in very handy during this process!
Sorry, for my ramble…I just thought I’d let you know what my page was all about!
Thanks for the visit and I hope you get a chance to play around with these fun powders!

When you first take a look at this, it might seem like a strange title.
Let me explain.  I made this for a challenge that challenged us to use a title of a paper line and we had to use the paper line name as our TITLE.
This is for the Survivor Challenge going on at Tally Scrapper.com.
We are in week 2.  So much fun….
A couple of weeks ago, we rescued this kitty from a storm drain under the street about 2 hours from where we lived.
I have fallen in love with her, and named her Luna, sadly, we can’t keep her.
Thanks to allergies the hubby has:(
What do you think of my fat black cat?  She is made entirely from Scalloped Circles and some smaller circle punches.
Another part of the challenge for this page was that I needed to use at least 3 colors from the paper line who’d title I am using.  Here is the palette I was working with.
The other dies I used on this layout were:

Thank you also Canvas Corp for the wonderful Red Jute, the perfect finishing touch for this page.

Printed Papers and Letters:

I hope you like what I have made today.

Thanks for stopping by.

This has been Jeannie from The Polka Cabana with today’s post.

Sketch Challenge…Are you ready???

11 Sep

As it is September 11th, I could not write a post and pretend that my thoughts are not heavy with memory of this day 10 years ago.

This will be my “I know exactly what I was doing” when the events of 9-11-2001 happened.  This is a picture from a very old scrapbook of mine.  This was taken on 9-12-2001, our firestation had the flags at half mass and my kids were gazing up to the flag.

A friend of mine asked to have this message shared:

“On this 10 th Anniversary I would wish everyone take a minute and remember what happened on 09/11/2001. Don’t ever forget. Be humbled by the loss and strengthened by the heroism. If you see and member of the armed forces, thank them for their service and be respectful of this date. The date that will forever be etched into our lives and our Generation. May the Angel’s fly high and the lost soar to the heavens with the glory and peace as their comfort.”

I just wanted to share my thoughts before delving into the Crafty things I have to share today.

Now, to switch gears, to my project for today’s post:

One of the teams I am on, Paper Issues, is the sponsor for the new Sketch at Sketch Inspiration!

There will be a prize for a random participant with us on this challenge.  Here is the prize up for grabs.

We will be featuring some of the projects made with this sketch all week.
Hope you can play along!
If you go over to Sketch Inspiration you can view the details of the challenge, click HERE.
Here is our sketch for this challenge:
This challenge starts today, September 11, 2011 and goes through till September 17, 2011.
Right now on Paper Issues our theme is LEARNING CURVE.
I have a habit of forgetting my camera at home and had to ask for a volunteer for some 1st day of school pics…
Luckily I had a taker and here is my creation for them, based on the sketch above.
This was a fun, FUN page to make.
To begin with I have to put a plug-in for Tally Scrapper.com.
Most of the paper is from the September Tally Kit.  Fabulous things all matched and coordinated for you by one of the most talented designers I have ever had the pleasure of working with.
You can order yours HERE:
I thought the paper was perfect for this little girl layout! The apples are from a file from My Scrap Chick.
Everything else is just a mixture of coordinating things I had on hand.
I especially love the made up heart “APPLE”.  I love just making up my own things.
I used to think that things like dimension and sewing on pages was a total DIVA thing, but I guess I have turned my self into a DIVA because now, I love to sew and add dimension to my pages and cards.  I have learned to never say never, that’s for sure!
I know you will love the prize shown at the top of this post.  You have a week!
Meaning a whole week to get a layout done and get yourself entered for that prize.
Get yourself over to Sketch Inspirations, get the sketch printed and start scrappin!
If you do, link back to me or let me know so I can see what you have created!
For now..I am off to clean up one very messy and unorganized scrap room!
Wish me lunch and have a great rest of your Sunday.

You wouldn’t believe this!!

So you all know who DOODLEBUG DESIGN is, right?

They had a call for their first design team call EVER!

I love their products.

They even came out with their own line of TWINE!

I have loved their buttons and brads forever.

I was so excited to see they were doing the call for a team and decided to try out.

I spent a couple of days getting some things done.

My local scrapbook store did not have a ton of paper, at least that I could find…but I made do with what I could find.

I submitted all the required written info they wanted and THOUGHT I attached my pictures and submitted all in plenty of time, before the deadline.

Then 2 days later, I went to my SENT folder to look something up and just about PASSED out when I saw there was no attachment to my emailed DT submission.

Can you believe I did that?

I immediately wrote them and begged to still have them look at my things and told them what happened..posted on their Facebook wall, but I know they are overwhelmed with applications and I never got a response.

So, who knows if I will even be considered!

I am sooo mad at myself, I mean, I have NEVER done that before!

So, they said we could post what we made, so I though why not…they might never even open my email, right?

Oh…I am such a NINCOMPOOP!!

I will just put a gallery of everything I made.

The 2 layouts are made from My Little Shoebox products which are a lot like Doodlebug Designs, other than that everything else is DOODLEBUG DESIGN.

The altered writing book/purse  is made from one of those composition books that you find everywhere.

I sewed a vinyl pocket on the front and really enjoy how that turned out.

I am short for time so I will just group them all here and hope you enjoy the things I made…maybe post on Doodlebug’s Facebook wall to give me a chance:)

Authentique Paper, a family affair!

4 Sep

I am a happy, happy & proud mom today!  Why?

You all know I love my hobby and I do dedicate a lot of time to doing what I love.  It is what makes me happy, makes me feel important and I truly love what I do.

I often find myself in my craft room surrounded by children who often want to do exactly what I am doing.

At times it is annoying but at times it is truly fulfilling.

Yesterday was such a day.

I had finished my Authentique Paper sketch challenge and had thought to get my kids in on it.

My 7 yo so, bailed, he just was too stressed about the sketch, being a literal child, he though he had to use the word TITLE in his page and just could not get beyond that!

My 12 yo daughter had a tough time getting started but I help her a little in the beginning and let her know she had to do it on her own, I could not TELL her what to do.

I cut out things on the Expression that she wanted and gave her some tips on adhesives, etc. let her have free rein at MY TABLE!!

Here is the Authentique Paper Sketch for the current challenge:

Well, I am so proud to show you my daughters very 1st layout EVER based on this sketch.  Meaning this is the first page she has ever made!

What do you think?

She decided on using the BLISSFUL for her layout.

This is our dog..Tico Torres DeGruccio.  He is named after Bon Jovi’s drummer!

The thing about my 12 you making this layout…she said to me when she was working on this, “I finally get why you can do this all day!”  I asked her what she meant and she said, “This is just so much fun!”  I told her, “I love you and I am so proud of you!” then we both giggled realizing we are both paper junkies!

She had so much fun with her layout, she made this card later in the evening.

She wanted to make sure I put this online also.

This is a card from on of my Deena Ziegler kits that I hoard like a squirrel with food in the winter.

Now, I get to show you my Authentique Paper layout for the Sketch challenge.

I have used products from the line called UNCOMMON.

My younger children and I have a thing for pugs.  We adore them!

When my youngest daughter and I took my oldest daughter to Utah to drop her off at BYU, my little one got a chance to meet a cute little pug named Coco.

They instantly connected and I got some cute pictures of them

On the way home we found this adorable polka dot purse with a pug inside and of course could not say no.

The new toy pug is now of course named Coco, after the real Coco.

Thank you for visiting today.

Please get on over to the Authentique Paper blog and join our challenge!  There is a fun Paper Goodie pack from Authentique Paper that will go to one lucky winner, so now you have your incentive!  Get on over there and PLAY!!

Have a great rest of your Sunday!

Once again here is the link to the challenge.

Momenta Projects as Momenta’s July 2011 Guest Designer

23 Jul

Today I am posting as the July Guest Designer for Momenta.com.  They were very generous with the items they sent me to create with.

My items were all made with the kit called SIMPLY PERFECT.

I have made quite a few things to show you and I still have TONS of paper and embellishments left over.

First I made a festive seasonal decoration.

This could go on a mantle, counter or on a table as a centerpiece.

For the lettering that spells out SUMMER, I used the MY MOMENTA create-your-own stickers.

I downloaded the template  and was able to use some festive digital paper I had on hand by designer Crystal Wilkerson.

Here is a close-up of my button flowers, I just love them.

I made a sweet little summer scene with the cardstock stickers.

The scene is made within a 4 inch bottle cap that Maya Road makes.

Oh, and what about that green trim from my MAY Tally Scapper’s Kit?  Isn’t it perfect with this paper line?

When my little kids saw this, they both were just amazed that I made it and wanted to know if I was magic!

Next, I made a trio of cards to show that the  Simply Perfect kit is very versatile.

Have you tried embossing your patterned paper?  I love doing this!

My new thing now is using tiny paper clips to add more embellishments.

Oh and of course, do not forget to add buttons and polka dots!

The cardstock stickers  are wonderful for my card making moments.

I really love how all 3 of these cards turned out.

Here they all are!

For my last project(s), I found these MDF frames at my local Ben Franklin.

Using the 12×12 papers, I mixed and matched the papers for background and then built scenes to go along with the color and theme of the paper.

Aren’t these colors so bright and happy?

The lettering that came in the kit was perfect!

You have to love how those glasses sparkle, thank to GRAFIX ART and their fabulous product called FUNKY FILM

Oooh, I just love everything about how this turned out!

Of course if I make one for the 4 yo, I have to make one for the 7 yo too!

Using the same paper line, I was able to make a boyish frame too!  Thank you Momenta

Aren’t the colors the best?  The embellishments in this line are just so fun to work with.

I just love the vibrant look of the finished products.

Here the frames are side by side.

I hope you have enjoyed seeing what I have made with Momenta wonderful products.

You especially have to go check out the Do it Yourself Stickers.  What a fabulous idea.  Can you imagine being able to make your own stickers and have them match any layout in the world?  That is possible when you make your own.  So be sure to go on over and check out everything Momenta.com has to offer.

The Four Seasons with Cheery Lynn Designs

27 May
I could not be more proud of my post today.
Really.
I had some scrapbook pages all completed laying around, in my way and collecting dust.
I finally decided to get those pages into a scrapbook and started putting them all in an album.
The pages that were not for my 2 youngest ones were going in a book for me.
Since most of the pages are about me,
I thought it’d be appropriate for it to be MY album, wouldn’t you agree?
Well, I put them all in the album and I thought,
I need a 1st page, a title page and INTRO page.
I needed it to be generic enough for all the wacky things I put in it.
I started thinking this book is about me throughout the year as each season turns into another.
So, for this intro page, I have incorporated an
ATC for each season and then created a layout with all 4 ATC’s.
Here they are:)
SPRING

SUMMER

FALL

WINTER

Here is the completed layout.

Of course I used a lot of the new dies on this layout.
(see list at the end of this post)

I love how elegant the new flowers and flourish are.

I had pictured in my mind using the Garden Gate in this manner.

Hopefully you can see what I was going for..

The gate stays the same, somewhat as the Tree and scenery change behind the gate with the different seasons.

I hope you have enjoyed me sharing this with you.
I truly could look at it all day.
Have a great weekend and don’t forget about the BUTTERFLY CHALLENGE. Have you submitted your project yet?
This has been Jeannie from THE POLKA CABANA, ta ta for now!
