Authentique Paper Tribute

30 Mar
This was and extremely hard project for me to do.  I have to say that this is the first layout I have done and actually shed some tears.  My time with Authentique Paper is coming to a close, as many of us on the Design Team are wrapping up our assignments with the company.  For me this is by no means and easy thing.  I have gotten to know these people on a personal level and I have a deep love and respect for them, (you know who I am talking about BC & SWC).  So my layout today is a tribute of sorts to this company that I adore.
I am using a sketch from Tally Scrapper by my fabulous friend.
Here is the sketch:
But I rotated the sketch and used it this way..
I needed a title and settled on using the word, ELEGANCE.

Definition of ELEGANCE

1a : refined grace or dignified propriety :
b : tasteful richness of design or ornamentation
c : dignified gracefulness or restrained beauty of style :
There could not be a more perfect word to describe Authentique Paper and for the wonderful owners.
I am using mostly paper from the Genuine Collection. The base paper is from the Blissful Collection.
.
Since a lot of the Genuine embellishments deal with friendship, it was the perfect choice for this layout.  I was very specific about the Diction stickers I used, only choosing those that described my feelings, mainly for sweet Samantha.
I had so much fun using real denim scraps and my sewing machine.
Denim, lace, pearls, the perfect combination with Genuine.
Top left corner..
Top right corner..
Bottom right corner…
Bottom left corner.
This has been quite the journey for me and I have to say I am not ready to say goodbye.
So, if you are still with me, just know that I have had the time of my life with Authentique Paper.  What and honor and privilege it’s been to design with these wonderful papers.
On that note, a close-up of my hand written addition..
This note is especially for Samantha, but also to all of the staff at Authentique Paper…I love you all and will be your biggest fan…possibly FOREVER:)

Last Minute Cards? No problem!

9 Dec
I am not even going to remind you how many days are left till Christmas, ask any child, they will remind you.
You’d think with all the card making I do, I’d have all my cards done and sent in the mail, NOT SO!
I had purchased these cute cards awhile ago and knew that I could do something to make them have a little more wow.
I love the design and color, but when you play with paper as much as I do, the fact that the card is one-dimensional, is, well, troublesome.  Sorry, I just can’t help it.
Let me show you a couple of ways to take a cute store-bought card and give it an extra special touch.
With this card, I added the some very basic flowers and leaves first.  I used the new MEDIUM ROSE and the Leaf for the Stacker Flowers.
I added some jewels to each flower center to make it sparkle.  That is it, just a couple of additions and the cute card is more eye-catching, less generic.
For this card, I added silver cording to the one-dimensional line on the card and this time made more layered versions of the Medium Rose with the same Leaf as the first card.  I also used Stacker Flower 3 and sized them to fit the ornaments exactly by using the Classic Window Stackers.  I also took the Celtic Fire Doily and cut it out in Aluminum Foil for the bottom right corner.
I added jewels for the ornament tops and you can see how beautiful this card has now become.
For this last card, what I did was to mimic the design.  I took the red cardstock and embossed it with the Wood Grain Embossing Plate.
To finish this off, I followed the same steps, more or less, as the previous card.  I then added some words from the Authentique Paper Diction set.
Here they are all together.  I have to say, I love how the doily looks in foil.  You have to be very careful with the foil as it is extremely delicate, but worth the extra work!
Card making does not need to be stressful. Even if you take some store-bought cards and just accentuate them, you are still adding you special touch and that is what counts.
I hope you have enjoyed today’s post, this has been Jeannie from The Polka Cabana.
Have a great weekend, now GO MAKE SOME CARDS:)

Wednesday Wowzer with I Heart {ippity}

30 Nov

How are you today?

(Who am I talking to?)  That is the weird this about blogging, you have no idea if anyone reads this stuff.  On the bright side it gives me license to talk to myself! That’s good enough for me.

Today I wanted to make a Christmassy type card with my {ippity} stamps with a set that is NOT a Christmas set.

I have used the set called Flowers + Friends = Priceless.

I took the flowers and embossed them in white with Stampendous CHUNKY WHITE ENAMEL.

It is supposed to be a shabby chic type feel.  The embossing distorts the image slightly on purpose.

I stamped the leaves in green and embellished with flat back pearls and ribbon.

My final touch was to add the phrase.  I always go to using my DICTION stickers from Authentique Paper.

I do not know what I would do without those little guys.

So there you have it.

Do you have stamps that are not “Christmas” stamps that you can try this technique with?

Think outside the box, that seems to be my motto!

Head on over to I Heart {ippity} we have such creative gals!

I love everything they make, every week.

Go and see for yourself.

Have a great day and remember this is the season of giving, not the season of stress and greed!  Relax and enjoy and don’t get caught up in the worldly view of this season.

Have a wonderful Wednesday.

Tuesday with Sweet Stamps New Challenge

15 Nov

This week on the  Sweet Stamps blog is a very fun challenge.

Remember that if you link up to our challenge, you have the chance to win a $20.00 gift certificate to Sweet Stamps.com.

The challenge this week is using Non-Traditional colors for a Christmas Card.

I had so much fun making this card and I love the colors.

I used papers from the Christmas Joy  6 x 6 pack by First Edition.

You seriously have to try this paper, it is awesome.  Sweet and whimsical designs and gorgeous prints.

I embossed the Medium snowflake on the paper and also used some of the paper I had embossed with the snowflake for my die cut ornaments.

The I used is called Star & Round Bauble ornament.

**BIG TIP** Before cutting paper that you have embossed, put a layer of wax paper between your die and embossed image or you will end up with your embossed image stuck to your die.

Maybe I know a thing or two about this?

This was a very easy challenge for me since the paper I used has a lot of  non-traditional colors in it.

I would love for you to stop by the Sweet Stamps blog and see what everyone else has come up with.

Hmmm, I wonder what colors everyone has used?

Are there any Twilight Fans out there??

11 Nov
Yesterday I took a poll on whether I should do a Twilight post or a Thanksgiving post.  Although Thanksgiving won, I went with a Twilight project.  I sure hope some of you crafty ladies are Twilight fans.  It is perfectly alright to like a book and movie, right?
Besides I have daughters and one is very much looking forward to Breaking Dawn that opens in 7 days!!
I decided to something geared toward our current challenge, I did a trio of tags!
Here you can see I made a little accordion folder for all three tags.
I used quite a bit of dies on this.  For the swirls (red) I used pieces from the Lace Rose & Flourishes.
I loved working with the black and red; my two favorite colors.
The flowers you see are made from stacks of flowers from the Flower Chain Border.
Here you can see the folder folded up with all three tags .
Here is the whole ensemble.
The red pieces of paper on the folder are just odds and ends that I thought looked good, kind of like bites had been taken out of it.
A close up of the Edward and Bella tag.
The upward left corner you can see that I used the embossed the paper with the Italian Lace Doily.  There is some of this embossed paper on each tag.
A close up on the Bella only tag.
Last but not least, the Edward tag.
I used lots of dies on this project and had a ton of fun making it.
Here you go, one last look!
I hope you have enjoyed my post today.
Be sure to join us on our Tag challenge.  You can find all the details here.

New Dies from Cheery Lynn Designs

15 Sep

Today’s post is to alert you that Cheery Lynn Designs has released another set of gorgeous Dies.

Today the NEW dies I am using are called:

Lace Rose & Flourishes

Stacker Flower #5

Stacker Leaf #1

Other dies used:

French Flair

Heartland America Large

Border Carnivale

This card posed some difficulty photographing.  I hope I have done my project justice.

Isn’t that Stacker flower just gorgeous??

To mimic the banner on the Pink Paislee paper, I used the circle’s from the Heartland America Large heart.

Here is a close up of the added fun I did on the Lace & Rose Flourish.

I filled each part of the flower and leaves with DG3 Art Gel and then added the beads and glitters.

The paper lace gather border was made with the Border Carnivale.

Here you can see how the card opens up.

You can see that this is just a treat of layers.

Be sure to head on over to Cheery Lynn Designs Blog to see the other dies that our Design Team has created things with.

We were all given different dies, so head on over to what the others have made.

Thanks for stopping by, you are going to love this release of dies, I promise you!!
