Springtime Card

30 Mar
I had a ton of fun making this sweet card.
I am using Mojo Monday’s sketch #234.
As usual, I have used a ton of dies and Authenticate Paper’s Delightful Collection.
I started by using the largest egg in the NESTING EGGS and decorated it with the following dies:
I then used the Spring Basket 1 and Darling Daisies to create the focal point of the card.
I had found the phrase I wanted to use first, so that is how I decided what to put IN the basket.
The bunny is the perfect touch for this Springtime card.
I love the colors and the dies were such fun to work with on this project.
I hope you have enjoyed my post.  Have a great weekend, this has been Jeannie with The Polka Cabana with today’s post.

Easter Fun Stuff

23 Mar
It is amazing to think it is almost Easter time.
We are in our Spring season and nothing is more fun than making Easter/Spring decorations.
Today I am showing you a very easy idea I cam up with based on this cute sticker I found online.
This is a sticker meant for a scrapbook page, I just thought it was adorable.  I thought it would also make a very cute decoration, but this is a sticker, soo..this is what I came up with.
I used the largest egg in the Nesting Eggs set to cut out the egg base. The bunny in the basket are the Spring Basket 1.
After cutting the large eggs I embossed them with the Black Eyes Susans embossing plate and then sanded the paper to reveal the gorgeous design.
To make my eggs and chicks, I used a combination of Little Stacker Ovals and the Nesting Eggs. The wings for the chick are petals from the Frangipani die.
To cut the eggs and leave the shell looking like they do, I used the Zig Zag Ric Rac border.
I adhered these to some rectangle blocks of wood, so they are nice and sturdy and will stand up just fine on a counter or mantel.
Sometimes ideas for things can be found in unusual places.
Looking at my project, it is hard to believe it is based on a sticker I saw..right??
This also reminds me to tell you about our current challenge.
The theme is EASTER.
Be sure and check out all the details for the challenge HERE.

Some things older but new to all of you!

16 Mar
Do you wonder what  my title means?
Well I just realized, I have 3 cards that I have made for Cheery Lynn Designs and I have never blogged about them here yet.
So you are going to get a treat today since I am sharing 3 for the blog post of 1!
I made these cards as submissions to a publication.  Two of these got chosen, so I was very excited!  The publication has come and gone, so I am sharing these now.
This was a card I made for the Easter holiday.
I just love the background on this.
I used the Wittle Weavers and Stitcher Plate Large Circle for the background.
The “sun” was made from the Sunflower and Scalloped Circle Dies.
The “sun” was made from the Sunflower and Scalloped Circle Dies.
The butterflies are made from Exotic Butterflies Small 2 dies.
I love using those Wittle Weaver’s for the background of cards.
This card was made for a theme called Haberdashery and Dress Making.
I used the Wood Grain Embossing Plate for the background.
The dress is made from layers of paper cut with the Anastasia Border.  Behind the dress I used the Ribbon Eyelet Border and Buttons 1.
Lastly I used the scallops from the Border Carnival for my corners and also used the following dies to finish off this card.  Optimistic Font 1/2″, Pretty Petals and Zig Zag Ric Rac.
Lastly I have this simple but elegant card!  Oh and it happens to match our current challenge which is Add A Flourish.  Have you entered yet?
For this card, I used my favorite embossing plate, Black Eyed Susans.
I also used the following dies on this card:  Zig Zag Ric RacRibbon Eyelet Border, Fanciful Flourish and Medium Rose.

Easter Blog Hop with Cheery Lynn Designs

15 Mar

Today we have a treat for you, our design team has been busy creating with the newly released Easter dies from Cheery Lynn Designs and we are doing a blog hop.

Visit each of the Design team members blogs and leave a comment.

One lucky person from each blog will win the Lace Egg that member used in her post.

I am using Lace Egg Three for my project today.

In addition to the chance to win the above die, if you leave a comment on the Cheery Lynn Designs blog, you will also have a chance to win the Nesting Egg dies.

For my project, I wanted to use these dies in a way to show you that even though they are Easter dies, you do not have to be limited to using them on Easter Projects only.

To start I have taken some paper towel tubes and have cut them down to just over 4 inches each.

I then covered each one with decorativve paper and used the smallest of the Scalloped Circle dies to cut out covers for the bottom only of the tubes.

They will stand up like this when finished.

Next I took the largest Nesting Egg and another Scalloped Circle and cut the shapes out like this.

I then used an assortment of dies to finish off these Babushkas.

I have used the Lace Egg Three for the sign and the apron  of each doll.

I figured these could be used for so many different occasions.

Table settings, name place cards, Mother’s Day Brunch, Baby showers just to name a few.

Each doll is decorated with paper lace and flowers from the following dies:  Pretty Petal, Lace Flourish Butterfly, Dancing Doily Lace Border, Zig Zag Ric Rac and the Stacker flowers Leaf.

Each doll holds a small treat.

I hope you liked my idea today!  Leave it to me to look for the out of ordinary way to use something, right?

Now you should go and visit each of the other team members blogs and leave a comment.

Remember:  One lucky person from each blog will win the Lace Egg that member used in her post. I used Lace Egg Three.

Also, remember, to leave a comment on the Cheery Lynn Designs blog for a chance to win the Nesting Egg dies.

Winners will be announced on the 19th along with this week’s challenge winner. Good luck and have fun hopping.

Here are the blogs that are participating in the blog hop.

Thanks for stopping by, I hope you enjoy all the projects on this hop!

Fun with Cheery Lynn Designs New Easter Dies

9 Mar
We are getting ready to have our new release party soon, but thought you might like to see what is in store for you.
I am using a TON of dies today.
I am also using a sketch from Mojo Monday.
You can go and check out the EASTER NEW RELEASE dies HERE.
I have used the following NEW EASTER DIES:
Even though these are EASTER dies, look what you can make…a hot air balloon!
I used the FRENCH PASTRY DOILY & ANGEL WING to go along with our current challenge which is DOILIES.  You can read about the challenge here.
Other dies I used are:
LACE CORNER DECO F – for the leaves on my flowers on the basket.
DANCING DOILY LACE BORDER – the white paper lace.
DOTTIES RIC RAC – the lighter brown ric rac piece.
FLOWER CHAIN BORDER – flowers on the basket and on the yellow border chain with flowers.
BLACK EYED SUSANS – the embossing plate for the brown background paper.
I am pretty sure that is all the dies used.  I have used ECHO PARK’S paper called THIS & THAT, such a gorgeous line!
By now you should know that I love thinking of unusual things to do with shapes meant for other things.  The reason I do this?  I love to show you just how much you can do with dies and supplies if you just think…outside the “Easter basket!”
I hope you have enjoyed my post today..I had a ton of fun making this!
Have a great weekend and thank you for stopping by.
This has been Jeannie with The Polka Cabana with today’s post.

Is Spring really here?

15 Apr
Does it feel like spring? OK, so it snowed near my house yesterday, but we will just ignore that, right?
I have another Easter project today.
I used the die called: EASTER EGG HUNT
I am going to show you 2 cards and show you a little alteration I did to the final image.
First, here is a card I did for Sweet Stamps. It is supposed to be a girlish type card.
I have already blogged about this here, but I wanted to compare the 2 cards.

I tried my hand at water coloring the cherries on the dress and hat. I can’t say I am really excited about the way it turned out, but it works.
I kept looking at the finished card above and thought I wanted to try to add some hair to the little girl.
I just had cut some tiny scraps and added them to today’s EASTER EGG HUNT girl.

I have to say, I ADORE the way this card turned out.

I created a landscape with the LARGE SCALLOP CIRCLE STACKERS & PICKET FENCE BORDER dies.

I had a glitter sticker from AMERICAN CRAFTS DEAR LIZZY line that worked perfectly for this card.

This die has so much detail. I think that this die is one that can be used over and over. Not just for Easter. She could be putting strawberries in her basket, Christmas ornaments, Birthday Party supplies. I know I will use this die over and over again and I hope you have enjoyed my post today.
This has been Jeannie from THE POLKA CABANA, join me next week for a TUTORIAL.
