Canvas Corp, I love you!!

29 Sep

I am making this post today to make sure you all know who Canvas Corp is.

You can browse through their catalog here.

http://canvascorp.com/home/?page_id=16

Now when I tell you they are my favorite Polka Dot paper manufacturer in the world, that is not to be taken lightly.

They have these cards, GREETING CARDS, you get a package of 8 plus envelopes.

They are just about the most fantastic thing I have ever owned.

I mean the card is just awesome on its own, all the bold polka dots and all. (Page 28 of the catalog)

So with such a wonderful base, how can any card go wrong?

I am going to show you 3 cards at 3 levels of difficulty.  We will start with the most labor intensive card of the 3.

The Greeting Cards are large.  They measure 5 x 7.

Here is one I created a ladybug scene on.

I also used a CHALKSTOCK TAG and some PAPER WRINKLES.

I love the effect of using the PAPER WRINKLES mixed in with the cut out grass border.

Here is a side view to see all the detail

This 2nd card was not as labor intensive.

I initially only wanted the fruit right on the card, but I did not make the strawberry large enough, oops!

Again, you can see that I used some PAPER WRINKLES for added flair. Th border on top of the yellow strip of paper is called BLACK & WHITE SWIRL REVERSE.

This last card was a breeze to make.

You all should know how much I ADORE Mary Engelbreit.

I took this image and mounted it on plain black cardstock and then again on ORANGE & WHITE DOT REVERSE before mounting on the GREETING CARD.

The flower embellishment is made from strips of paper from some ORANGE & BLACK PAPER WRINKLES.

The black tie on the left is done with BLACK JUTE CORD.

Here they are all together.

Isn’t this a great set of cards?

Maybe you can understand why my title is CANVAS CORP, I LOVE YOU!!

I hope you have enjoyed today’s post,

stop on by to the Canvas Corp Facebook page and let them know Jeannie sent you over and you love their polka dots!

I will be checking their page to choose a random winner for a sampler of some CANVAS CORP paper goodies!!

Let me know you have said hi to CANVAS CORP to better your chance for the draw!!!

I Heart {ippity} & Authentique Paper = SPLENDID!!

1 Sep

I have been in a whirlwind the past week!  Traveled across 2 states, said goodbye to my oldest daughter and left her at college and I am still trying to catch up with the many things I have and want to do.

Today is my card for the I Heart {ippity} blog.  I did not make it to be a Wednesday Wowzer, so I will call it a Thursday Treat!

This one will be up for grabs, so keep on reading!

I made this for the {ippity} opportunity challenge. Here is the link:

http://unityopportunity-challenge.blogspot.com/2011/08/1-2-3-challenge.html

This one is as easy as 1-2-3!!
1 stamped image or sentiment
2 colors of cardstock
3 patterned papers
I used the {ippity} set called:
I am still in the NEWLYWED shock of being on the Authentique Paper team and can’t stop wanting to use this fabulous paper!
I used paper from the SPLENDID line.
The blue cardstock is more of a blue-green but I could not get the lighting right for some reason, oh well!
I lifted a card design from Deena Ziegler, I just don’t remember what month it was she used this layout!
I am so blessed to have such fun products like {ippity} stamps and Authentique Paper to work with.
Everything came together just “SPLENDIDLY” for this card, now would you like a chance to win this card?
If you would like a chance to be in the drawing for this card I ask a couple of things,
1) Visit this post:   Leave a comment and let them know Jeannie sent you.
2) Become a follower of I Heart {ippity}
3) Visit this post:   Leave a comment and let them know Jeannie sent you.
4) Become a follower of  the Authentique Paper Blog
5) Tell me your favorite {ippity} set and Authentique Paper line for an extra entry!

Have a great Thursday!

I Heart {ippity} & Authentique Paper

3 Aug

Today I am sharing with you a card I made using my {ippity} stamps and some paper and products from Authentique Paper, specifically their Splendid line.

The {ippity} set I used is called Flowers + Friends = Priceless and can be purchased here:

Here is a close up to see all the fabulous colors in the SPLENDID paper I used.

What I did was to stamp on my green background paper first.

I used white acrylic paint, they I distressed the heck out of the paper!

The tag is a from the SPLENDID TABLOID sheet.

I stamped the sentiment right onto the TABLOID piece.

Here you can see the little “SHRINKY DINKS” made from GRAFIX ARTS SHRINK FILM.

Before I put them in the oven, I punched a hole out in the centers.

When they were cooked and cooled, I used that hole to insert colorful wire and attach glass beads for a finishing touch.

Then I took and cut a FANCIFUL FLOURISH from Cheery Lynn Designs out of some more SPLENDID paper and attached everything to the card front.

Last step was to add some green craft wire as leaves and VOILA, card is DONE!!

Now, do you like this card?  Instead of doing the contest like I normally do..I will give this one away…and all you have to do is say, you love it…and you want it!

I will tally all the wants up and pick a random winner and post it next week!

If you really, really love this card..then send a friend and tell your friend to mention your name and you both get double entries!!  SIMPLE..right?

Now as long as we are talking about AUTHENTIQUE PAPER, let me share some news!!

I got chosen to be part of the new Authentique Paper Design Team!

Here is the post about it!!

http://www.authentiquepaper.com/?p=1010

So tomorrow..come  back and visit and I will share some cards I made with AUTHENTIQUE PAPER supplies over the weekend!

Here is hoping you have a great Wednesday!

Ta ta for now!

I Heart {ippity}, I really do!

27 Jul

I adore all DT’s I am on and the I Heart {ippity} team has been so much fun.

Already I feel like I have some life long friends and I know I would adore them all in person.

As for the stamps?  So much fun!

Today I am using a stamp from the set called

DELIGHTFUL LITTLE THINGS

Isn’t this a great set?

Here is what I came up with.

This was taken at night..I never seem to finish my things in daylight anymore.  So I got up today and took a daylight picture too!

I really focused on circles because I want to enter this into the Circles Circles challenge on The Unity Stamp Co. website.

The picture on my card is a hand-made MOO card.

Moo’s are usually one-dimensional, but I printed my items out separately so I could layer the card.

I thought the image of my little angels toes went perfectly with this phrase.

I had so much fun making this card.

I made a delightful mess I am sure Candace would faint if she saw!

Again I have used lots of products from GRAFIX ARTS.

I used some FUNKY FILM and some METALLIC FOIL BOARD on the background circles.

I adore these products.  They give my cards and scrapbook projects an extra flair and shimmer!

Now let’s talk about winners!!

This is for my I Heart {ippity} card from last week, this one:

Paper Piecing with I Heart {ippity} stamps

20 Jul

Last week, I had a mini contest going and I am so happy with the amount of participants!  I had 12 entries and you can see here that I used RANDOM.ORG and it chose comment #2!

Comment #2 was submitted by Heather!  So Ms. Heather, please pm me your address..you know how to find me!!

CONGRATULATIONS!!

Today, I have made a card that covers 3 important things for me!

First, it is for my DT with the awesome blog I Heart {ippity), second, I am entering this into the PAPER PIECING CHALLENGE on the UNITY OPPORTUNITY CHALLENGE blog and third, I am using some more supplies from my Tally Scrapper August kit.

I have used the stamp set called: FLOWERS + FRIENDS = PRICELESS.

As you can see, I have paper pieced the flowers and put them on top of my Cheery Lynn Designs die cut flowers called:

JUDY’S BLOOMS.

I love stamping the phrases and cutting them apart and then putting them back together again.  It is a lot of work, but I love how it looks.  My little flag was part of the August Tally Scrapper kit also, however it did not match my card, so I covered it with some of the new AUTHENTIQUE PAPER and added an AUTHENTIQUE DICTION sticker to match the card theme.  Both are from the line called Journey.

I also love adding beads to my cards!  You can see I have also made some handmade paper beads from the paper in my AUGUST TALLY SCRAPPER KIT and can you believe how cute that Zebra ribbon is?  Also from the Tally Scrapper August kit.  I think I will host a giveaway for this card also…

Would you like a chance to WIN this card?

Here is the process:

For each one of the requirements you complete you get one entry, leave a  comment for each requirement you completed.

1 – Leave a comment here on my blog telling me your favorite {ippity} stamp set.

6 – If you are one of my TALLY SCRAPPER sisters..just let me know with your Tally name!! You get a bonus entry!

A Cheery Lynn Designs tribute to The Girl in the Garden

1 Jul
For one of my other jobs, I get to Book Reviews for the SIMPLY STACIE blog.
On June 22, 2011 my review of THE GIRL IN THE GARDEN was posted.
To see the review go here.
The book was WONDERFUL.
Now if it wasn’t enough to have a fabulous book sent to me to read and review,
I was able to interview the author, KAMALA NAIR also.
My Q & A with her is located at:
There is some sort of GOOGLE thing that will not allow me to put the whole content here on my blog,
so be sure to head over to SIMPLY STACIE to see the interview.
For our CHEERY LYNN purposes, you can see, this card is a tribute to the wonderful book cover of The Girl in the Garden.
Isn’t it a GORGEOUS cover?
Here is my card based on the cover.

Here are the 2 side by side.

This was my first time working with the new die called EMPEROR’S SWAN.
I was amazed at what an easy time I had cutting this out. My secret?

You can see how intricate and delicate this die is; the CUTTLEHUG made this painless for me!

I hope you like what I have created today.

Be sure to see these 2 links for a chance to win a copy of this book!

Chance #1 – http://simplystacie.net/book-giveaway-the-girl-in-the-garden-us-can/

Chance #2 – https://polkacabana.wordpress.com/2011/06/22/good-news-and-giveaway/

As for my card, I will be sending it to Kamala Nair🙂

The winner of the BOOK GIVEAWAY on my blog will get a duplicate of this card for themselves too!

Be sure to leave me a comment on the Book Giveaway post and This post for a chance to win this card.

If you ever get in a rut and need inspiration, it is really all around you.
Do you have a stack of books?
Go look through the covers and if one inspires you to make a card, I’d love to know and see it!
Look everywhere there is beauty and ideas everywhere!
My challenge for you is to go out and find it somewhere unexpected:)

MY BUTTERFLY CREATION(s)

Today I want to show you a card that is a mutli-level card.  I knew what I wanted to do for the card.  As I started creating it, I noticed in stages I could have stopped and been done, but I knew what the finished product looked like in my head, so I took a picture and carried on.

No matter what lever card maker, paper crafter or scrapbooker you are, you can utilize these dies.

Let me show you what I mean.

For the 1st step of this card, I stamped my words on the card front.  The stamp I used is from SWEET STAMPS.COM called  BUTTERFLY KISSES.  Then, took the CHEERY LYNN DESIGNS ORIENTAL BUTTERFLY DOILY and ran it through my BIG SHOT and used the Die as an embosser, not a die.  To do this, here is the sammich recipe:

SIZZIX ACRYLIC CUTTING PAD

Multipurpose Platform on TAB 2

1 piece of copy paper folded in half

Butterfly die FACING UP

Card front, right side facing down and centered where I want the emboss to go.

Tape with temp adhesive if necessary

Thicker of the 2 LARGE EMBOSSING PADS

SIZZIX ACRYLIC CUTTING PAD

Can you see how the die has embossed with out cutting all the way through?

The rubber cutting pads all you to do that.  I mounted this on my card front, using the  RIBBON EYELET BORDER w/ PIERCING as a decorative border.

Without going further, this could be a stopping point and you have a lovely card to give away.  Let’s go on to the INTERMEDIATE LEVEL.

For the Intermediate level,  I used on of the Butterflies from the EXOTIC BUTTERFLY MINI set.  I cut it out on some coordinating printed paper.

I also used some jump rings and some glass beads.

I knew I wanted to attach these like a hanging banner or clothesline, so I attached jump rings to the 2 upper corners of my card.

I assembled the butterflies together with the jump rings and added the beads as an extra touch.

I then attached the butterfly banner to the card front.

Here you can see that again, if I were to stop here, this would be a perfectly beautiful card.

I would call this level Intermediate, since there is more work involved.

Moving on to the Advanced level.  I cute a larger butterfly out using the  EXOTIC BUTTERFLY MEDIUM die.

I made the butterfly shimmer using a Sakura GELLY ROLL pen.

I then attached a thin strip of dimensional foam to make the butterfly 3-d.

Lastly, I applied some more butterflies to the inside.

Here we have the finished product, the Advanced level.

With any card or project, there are always varying levels you can attain.  Never feel intimidated by those who might have been working at a craft longer.

I think the card I made at the Beginner level is perfectly lovely.  If that is your level, that is awesome!  Cherry Lynn Designs dies are for EVERYONE.  Hopefully this project today shows the versatility of these dies.
