Just a little something…

15 Sep

A couple of weeks ago I was asked if I could make a really FANCY card for an anniversary.

Hmmm, is that something I could do?  Well of course!

The “husband” said, she is from a tropical place, and loves flowers and get this…LADYBUGS!!

Oh, I can do ladybug cards alright and he said I could go HEAVY on the ladybugs, so I did!

This is a Tri-Fold card, this is the front.

He wanted a large card.  So this ended up measuring 8 1/2 x 8 1/2 inches.

What do you think.  When I delivered it, he was all smiles and gave me such a nice compliment. He said he could tell by looking at the card, I really enjoy what I do.

He is right, making things, especially for others, yep, that is where it’s at!

I hope you enjoyed this special card, it really was quite a masterpiece.

Thanks for stopping by and have a terrific week.

Friendship Plaque

16 Aug

Hi there, it’s me Jeannie with a fun project I am giving to my good friend I am about to see in 2 hours…that translates into…I will get very little sleep tonight!
I have used 2 stamps from the set called You’re so Punny.  The exact phrase that I needed wasn’t in the set, but by combining 2 together, I was able to get what I needed.

Instead of doing a card, I thought I’d do this little plaque to remind her of our early morning workouts. I should say HER workouts, I just pretend to workout alongside her.

We talk about anything and everything, we try to solve the world’s problems and we happily refer to the gym as the batcave.

Stamped phrases can be used in many different ways, and my project shows you that they are not just for cards!

They chair stamp is from Close to My Heart, the ladybug, is an old one of mine and my papers are various brands.

The dies I used are by MFT and Cheery Lynn Designs.
I hope you have enjoyed this little treasure I have shared today.
This has been Jeannie from The Polka Cabana, posting in behalf of Joy’s Life.com.  Have a great day.

Multi layers and flowers with Cheery Lynn Designs

2 Mar
I was visiting blogs the other day for Cheery Lynn Designs, Lots of Layers, challenge entries and one lady’s blog post really stayed in my mind.  She was talking about Cheery Lynn Designs challenge and said, “I can do layers.”
I thought that was so cute, and she did do a fabulous job on her entry too.  I felt the same way about the challenge this week, “I can do layers, (too!!)”
I have used a lot of dies and I do have a lot of layers, so brace yourself! I am also using some really great papers from MOMENTA.
To start, I took the FRENCH LATTICE SMALL cut it out in a patterned red, backed it with ad nice textured white and mounted that on a kraft card front.  I added some machine stitching, because I think it adds a lot of flair to a card.
Next, I took the SWEDISH SPRING OVAL and cut it out in a patterned blue and layered that on top of the lattice. Both the red and blue papers are from the 5 x 7 Cardstock Pad.
The last time I used the FRENCH LATTICE SMALL die, I thought all those cut out squared would make a cute something, I just didn’t know what.  But today when making my card, I knew they would make perfect flowers and mini pinwheels.
You can see my finished card here.  The stems and grass are made from paper from the 5 x 7 Textured Cardstock Combo Pad.
I also used the basket from BUNNY IN BASKET, CUTIES 4, MEDIUM ROSE, DARLING DAISIES, LACE CORNER DECO D and DOTTIES RIC-RAC to complete this card.  The ladybugs are also from Momenta and are called Lady Bugs Dimensional Sticker.
The fluffy yellow flowers are made out of piece of tissue paper my 7yo brought home from school for me.  I made the yellow flowers with the MEDIUM ROSE and layered them on one of the DECO CORNERS.  The stems are made from DOTTIES RIC-RAC.
The mini pinwheels and pinwheel flower are made from the leftover squares from the FRENCH LATTICE SMALL as I mentioned above.
Here is a close up of the fluffy roses.
The flowers in the basket are a combination of the leftover LATTICE squares and the
DARLING DAISIES . Just by layering a lot of the squares and daisies, I was able to make these adorable flowers.
Here is one more look at my card that I am sure you will agree has LOTS OF LAYERS.
I hope you have enjoyed this fun card I have come up with.  Be sure to join in on our challenge, like I have mentioned, the theme is LOTS OF LAYERS.
You can find all the details here.
To view any of the Momenta products I have used, be sure to visit their site which you can find here.
Have a great day and thanks for stopping by today!  Have a great weekend!

JW Illustrations with Authentique Paper

23 Jan

It is a rainy day AGAIN and I ham creating with some cute things today!

Today I am going to show you a card I have made for JW Illustrations.

JW stands for Jessica Weible, just so you know!

Most of you know I have a thing for ladybugs, so I am using the LADY LOVE BUG digital stamp.

Here is what I came up with.

How do you like the paper combination?  It is a new collection from Authentique Paper called MIRACLE COLLECTION – GIRL.

As already mentioned the adorable bug is by JW Illustrations.  I love digital stamps because there is so much you can do with them.

I love being able to manipulate, and do what ever I can figure out how to do with, digital stamps.

As for the products I have used today here is a little list:

Stamp – Lady Love Bug – JW Illustrations

Paper – Authentique Papers – Miracle- Girl

Letter Stickers – Authentique Paper – Miracle Collection

Rhinestuds – Rhinstone Hues – Etsy

Pennant Die – Cheery Lynn Designs

Twine – The Twinery

Candi – Sweet Stamps.com

What do you think?  Do you use Digital Stamps?  If so, what is your favorite thing to do with them?  I’d love to know!

Ok…I am done for today!  I might make another something for tomorrow…you never know!

Have a great day!

You wouldn’t believe this!!

5 Sep

So you all know who DOODLEBUG DESIGN is, right?

They had a call for their first design team call EVER!

I love their products.

They even came out with their own line of TWINE!

I have loved their buttons and brads forever.

I was so excited to see they were doing the call for a team and decided to try out.

I spent a couple of days getting some things done.

My local scrapbook store did not have a ton of paper, at least that I could find…but I made do with what I could find.

I submitted all the required written info they wanted and THOUGHT I attached my pictures and submitted all in plenty of time, before the deadline.

Then 2 days later, I went to my SENT folder to look something up and just about PASSED out when I saw there was no attachment to my emailed DT submission.

Can you believe I did that?

I immediately wrote them and begged to still have them look at my things and told them what happened..posted on their Facebook wall, but I know they are overwhelmed with applications and I never got a response.

So, who knows if I will even be considered!

I am sooo mad at myself, I mean, I have NEVER done that before!

So, they said we could post what we made, so I though why not…they might never even open my email, right?

Oh…I am such a NINCOMPOOP!!

I will just put a gallery of everything I made.

The 2 layouts are made from My Little Shoebox products which are a lot like Doodlebug Designs, other than that everything else is DOODLEBUG DESIGN.

The altered writing book/purse  is made from one of those composition books that you find everywhere.

I sewed a vinyl pocket on the front and really enjoy how that turned out.

I am short for time so I will just group them all here and hope you enjoy the things I made…maybe post on Doodlebug’s Facebook wall to give me a chance:)

Grafix Arts…have you tried this stuff?

1 Aug

I have been using Grafix Arts supplies a little here and there in my recent posts.

Here is a look at the items I am talking about.

These projects that you might have already seen, I have used either FUNKY FILM or the METALLIC FOIL BOARD.

The FUNKY FILM is what really shimmers in these projects and has a bit of pattern, whereas the METALLIC FOIL BOARD has no pattern.

Now let’s move on to my current projects.  My first projects, these mini pin cushions utilize the following products:

FUNKY FILM, METALLIC FOIL BOARD and SHRINK FILM.

This pin cushion is made from a tiny picture frame.

I made these adorable head pins with stamps and the SHRINK FILM.

The stamps here are from the My Time Made Easy, SO FORTUNATE set.

This next pin cushion I had seen made on The DIY Dish.

These headpin  flowers are made with a die cut, BLACK SHRINK FILM  and glass beads.

The embellishments around both are a mixture of FUNKY FILM and METALLIC FOIL BOARD.

This next project utilizes GRAFIX ART’S SHRINK FILM.

Again I am using some stamps from the My Time Made Easy SO FORTUNATE set.

The black flowers are a stamp from an {ippity} set called FLOWERS FRIENDS PRICELESS.

Again using glass beads to embellish and everything is attached with jewelry findings and wire.

Next is a Halloween decoration.

The base, is a HUGE diecut and is all done with GRAFIX ARTS CHIPBOARD.

This project stars the newline of paper by AUTHENTIQUE PAPER called GLOWING.

Using FUNKY FILM in the COPPER BRUSH and PEACH RAIN colors that went perfectly with the GLOWING line.

Lots of beads, mini banners and lots of sparkle from the FUNKY FILM make this a delight to look at.

Look at that PEACH RAIN FUNKY FILM, isn’t it gorgeous?

This Christmas Holiday decoration was made with METALLIC FOIL BOARD and die cuts from GRAFIX ARTS CHIPBOARD.

The CHIPBOARD is very sturdy and the FOIL BOARD is gorgeous when embossed, see the stars?

I accented these with AUTHENTIQUE PAPER’S WONDER line.

Here we have a little ensemble of rainbow fun.

I have used the same stamps and SHIRINK FILM as mentioned earlier.

Up close picture of the hair barrettes.

Close up of the shoes.

These barrettes are so bright and fun!

 My daugher LOVES them!

Here is a jewlery set fit for a princess or ladybug loving mom like ME!

I used some miscellaneous stamps on hand and SHRINK FILM.

There are so many endless possibilities with the SHRINK FILM.

Close up of the ladybug SHRINK FILM tile.

Oh, and look at this TINY ring  I made!!

Can you believe how precious that is?

Here we have a banner that shows off GRAFIX ARTS METALLIC FOIL BOARD.

I mixed the foil board and material for a really unique looking banner.

I love the die cut fruit and flowers with the FOIL BOARD.

 Very eye catching and colorful!

I used the FOIL BOARD and die cut the trim for all these banner pieces and then adhered the borders with hot glue.

I think the trim gives this an added sweetness, agree?

 One more look!

I ran out of time..so here are some GRAFIX ARTS SHIRNK FILM stars, you might see in an upcoming project!!

If you have not visited the GRAFIX ARTS website, you have got to take a look at all their unique projects!

There is a store locater on the website and also a link to purchase things online.

Let me know which project featuring the GRAFIX ARTS supplies you enjoyed the most and thank you so much for browsing!

Have a TERRIFIC monday!

Ladybug Princess set with Cheery Lynn Designs.

29 Jul
Aren’t these cute? I got them on sale for $1.00. It was meant to be because my princesses flip flops broke and these are their replacement.
Not fit for a princess how they are, so let me show you how to jazz them up!

I used some glitter fun foam and the WITTLE WICKER die.

By cutting the fun foam with the WITTLE WICKER die, I get perfect 1/4 inch strips.

Next I took my red and black glitter fun foam and cut ladybugs
out from the LADYBUG FRAME die.

Here the pieces are ready to assemble.

Next I took a piece of fabric and ripped it in about 1/2″ wide by 5″ long strips.

Here is a nice pile of strips ready for the next step.

I took them one at at time and tied them on to the flip flop straps.

Finished with the tying.

Now with my white glitter foam 1/4″ strips, I accidentally bought sticky back foam, so I stuck all my strips with a matching “buddy”.

After I stuck all the sticky sides together, I cut the strips in half. They are about 1 inch long here. I covered a button with fun foam as a base. I them glued all the strips in a spiral fashion on the fun foam covered button.

I then cut a yellow flower out from the SWEET WILLIAM die.

I glued the SWEET WILLIAM to the top and trimmed and cut the white fun foam until I liked the shape of the flower.

I assembled and glued on the ladybugs and added some dimensional spots with a BLACK VIVA DECOR PEARL PEN.

Here are the flip flops all done.

Awww, look at those spots!

Next, I made a matching headband.

Using the same technique and design as the flip flops, I tied some fabric onto the headband.

Here is the finished headband.

Might as well make a bracelet to go along, right?

Look at those flip flops, I love how they turned out!

Here is the full ensemble.

Now we are just showing off!

You can tell she really LOVES her new things! The whole set cost between $5 and $8 to make. Not too bad, right?
I hope you have enjoyed my set fit for a princess, this has been Jeannie from The Polka Cabana with Friday Fun!
Dies used today:

Cheery Lynn Designs Tuesday

18 Jan

This is another installment of Valentines and Leaves.  I had shared with you that Cheery Lynn Designs just released their newest set of dies, DIMENSIONAL LEAVES in my Saturday post.

I keep thinking of things to do with these leaves to use them beyond being LEAVES.  I think it is very important to use items to their full capacity.  Hopefully my cards today will show you some examples of what I mean.

We will start with the Valentine’s card.  Who’d have thought to make a Valentine from leaves?…..umm…………..  ME!!

Here is a close up.  I used a metal Piercing plate to create texture on my papers.  In addition to creating texture, the Piercing plate created all these holes that allowed me do all the hand stitching on this card.  The holes made it easy to just feed the needle right where I wanted to.  No punctured fingers for me on this project since the holes make hand stitching so easy.

Next, I will show you how I used the leaves to create a background for this colorful RAINBOW card.

I created a lot of detail and dimension on this card with dies, paint, and paper layering.

Isn’t that little Philippe Pea from Veggie tales the cutest?

Well, head on over to Cheery Lynn Designs.  They have some fun contests going.  Chances to win free product from the Cheery Lynn Designs Store.  They are also showing some of their new releases as they gear up to go top CHA down in Los Angeles!

Mixing and matching all these dies is so much fun, you should really try it sometime!!

Products used on these cards: Jean Claude and Philippe Pea, Dimensional Small Leaves #1, Dimensional Large Leaves #2, Lady Bug Frame, Scalloped Rectangle, Scalloped Oval, Scalloped Square, Buttons1 and Optimistic 1/2″ Tall Upper/Lower Case.
