Wowed by WOW EMBOSSING POWDERS

11 Jan
Hello blogging world, today I am sharing my first project here for the fantastically yummy embossing powders by WOW.
I created a fairly simple layout so that the colors of the powders would really stand out.
I started with a picture that I manipulated in PSE.  I wanted the picture and my title to be the background paper.  Here is what I started with.
Yep, that’s me..goofy I know but it is what I wanted!!
I had the image of what I wanted to do in my head, and here is what I dreamed up!
When I look at this layout, I am just giddy.
I used the Wow Beautiful Clear Stamp set called GRATITUDE.
All the embossing powders I used are from the CANDY COUNTER COLLECTION–Berrylicious, Whirly Pop, Sour Lemon, Gummy Bear Green, Bubble Gum & Cotton Candy.

This is for a book I have decided to do about me.
We all have things that are unique, things that make us who we are.
I am a Sunday School teacher for teenagers and this past Sunday I was talking about the importance of journaling.  I had this MOMENT while planning my lesson that I wanted to do a book about the nuances that make me who I am.  I told my class about this and told them that journaling can be really fun.
I told them it was my promise I would start myself and that I would create something and bring it to church the following Sunday.
Now that I have my first page I can’t wait to do others.
The WOW embossing powders will come in very handy during this process!
Sorry, for my ramble…I just thought I’d let you know what my page was all about!
Thanks for the visit and I hope you get a chance to play around with these fun powders!

Trio of Cards with Cheery Lynn Designs

8 Jul
Every once in awhile I do my projects for a blog post and I want to explode with excitement because I am so happy with how my things turned out!
This is one of those times.
I was challenged to use dies I have not used in awhile..well I decided to use a die I have never used before! The die is called: FISH.
Here is phase 1 of my card: I could have stopped here, what do you think?

Initially I was going to have fish strung across the front, but it covered up the beautiful abstract background I had just made.

So I settled for enhancing and complimenting the background instead.

Using wire and glass beads, I kept with the ROYGBIV color scheme and created this mini masterpiece.

I just love how this turned out!

I had all these ideas for this simple die, so I kept going.

I have a blast looking up different quotes for cards I have in mind.

This one I came upon quite by accident. I was having my 16yo help look up fish quotes and I did not like any he was finding, so I told him never mind and let him know he was “Off the hook,” and well I laughed out loud, because I thought hey..I can make a card with that!

Remember on my 1st card I said I had the idea to string the fish along the front?

Well, this is what I meant. See how they would have covered the whole background of the 1st card?

This would be a fun card to make for a friend having a bad day.

Nice bright colors to cheer someone up and this is what the inside says:

Amazingly, I only used a couple of dies with these cards. The FISH die is a fun die as it has that outline that can stand alone. There are many other dies like this. To see them all, here is the link, they are called LAYERING CHARMS:
I hope I was able to show you how fun this simple die can be, go and check out the other shapes in this family of dies.

Peace, Love & Rock -n- Roll!

How is that for a title?

How is that for a theme?

I have no idea why I came up with this, it just happened.

Jean Claude and Philippe Pea happily volunteered to be my models today.

Let’s go in order, shall we?

PEACE – Veggie Style

Pretty creative huh? What the world needs more of is Peas, right?

These guys are certainly 2 groovy little dudes!

LOVE – Veggie Style

I decided to do this one based on the news of Japan.
I thought about it today when I did not get some good news,
I had really hoped/wished for.
Then I felt bad, being so selfish when Japan is in such a crisis.

All I can do is keep them in my thoughts and prayers and that is just what I will keep on doing.

ROCK & ROLL – Veggie Style

This is just a fun card! I thought that it was a good finish.

Those Peas are such good sports!

Hopefully you can see that having a set like these, you really can make anything you can dream up!
On a personal note by me, that FABULOUS paper  for my WORLD PEAS card is from Memories Emporium on ETSY.

My World Peas card is dedicated to Groovy Deb and the gals over there, miss you all and luv you all!

My Love card is dedicated to Michelle from My Analog Life, and her and I both know why 😦

My Rock and Roll card is dedicated to the Paper Issues team, because of our 1st Blog Hop…we are going to ROCK the WORLD…
…hey, it  could happen!

Saturday treat with Cheery Lynn Designs

5 Mar
Hello Everyone, it is me Jeannie on a Saturday!
Hope you are all having a great weekend.  Today I have such a treat for you, a little tutorial.
You might have seen these flowers in other places, maybe even made them yourself, but I am going to show you where Cheery Lynn Dies will come in and save you some time and sanity with these flowers.
I have no idea if these have a name, I feel like I sort of made my own version here, I am calling it a Cheery Bloom!
How is that for a name?
On with the tutorial.
Here is what I started out with.  Some scrap pieces of paper and my Wittle Wicker 1/4″ stripsdie.

Next, I cut a lot of Wittle Wickers.  Remember these are 1/4 of an inch.
You need a lot of strips to make my Cheery Bloom, do you know how hard it is to cut 1/4 of an inch on my HUGE paper cutter?

Running the paper and die through my Big Shot is a breeze and cuts LOTS of strips at one time. Here are 2 even (approx.) piles ready to go!

I trimmed one pile to be 3 1/2″ long and the other pile to be 2 3/4″ long.

At this point I make sure I have my new love, QUICK DRY Tacky Glue.

I start by getting a pile of glue in the center of a 2 inch circular piece of card stock.
After the glue is in place, I start gluing my strips all around. you want to start with your strips RIGHT SIDE in glue and WRONG SIDE facing up.

Just keep gluing until no more strips will fit.
Fan them all around like you are making a sunshine. Keep a napkin close by to daub and extra glue that is in your way.

At this point I had already started to fold over my strips and started to glue them all down, creating that nice open ribbon look.

Here I am almost done with the BASE layer.

Now I am creating a lot of loops to have so I can start building up the blossom.
I have a small pool of glue on a scrap paper and some on my index finger for QUICK and FAST loop assembly.

Here you can see I have a lot of loops ready to go, and the BLOOM on the left ready for some fluff from those loops.

I once again, created a pool of glue in the center
. Then I just kept grabbing those loops and gluing into that pool of glue.

Here is the BLOOM all completed.

Aerial view, you can see how full and colorful it is. It is about 3 1/2″ to 4″ across.

The CHEERY BLOOM is ready for a project.

Here is where the CHEERY BLOOM landed!  Right on top of a gift box with my PEA duo.

This would be perfect for a newlywed or anniversary gift.
Put some gift cards for some stores or restaurants in it for the happy couple.

For this gift box, I used one that I already had and added some CHEERY LYNN wow to it.

I ran the entire box through the Big Shot with my LARGE STITCHING PLATE to create a wonderful texture on the whole box.
BIG SECRET HERE!
By running it through the machine, it softened the paper up and made folding this intricate box a snap!
The grooves just bent easily into place, it was awesome!

On the side panels, I also ran them through the Big Shot, but this time I used the LARGE CIRCLE STITCH ER PLATE.
It created a wonderful circular pattern on all the panels.
In this picture, I have really adjusted the coloring so you can see the pattern the plates leave.
I also zig-zagged the panels to the box, and I really feel the stitching plates cut down on the chore of running paper through my sewing machine.

So there you have it, my own version of this strip flower.
I have created another type of this flower and I will share that tutorial next week on FRIDAY, my normal day
. So check back with me then! You need a sneak peak?
OK!! I can do that!
Here you go!

ROYGBIV, I love you!!

6 Aug

I have to tell you, seeing the colors of the rainbow all lined up, makes me giddy.  I mean I feel a surge of happiness just looking at something based on the simple colors of a rainbow.  I entered a swap for some ATC cards.  I needed to create the cards based something that is ME!  I have NEVER done these before..so I just made mine like a mini card.  I found a wonderful phrase to go with my design and of course, I added some POLKA DOTS and voilà, here is my finished project!

I found this wonderful product on ETSY.  I think the commercial name for them is DEW DROPS.  They make any project sparkle and add a little pizzaz.  I have tried to take a close up so you can see them.

You can really see the 3D effect on this one.  Such a happy project!

Can you believe I made 20 of those?  They were A LOT of work.  All the scraps are sewn first, then I sewed all the flower/button accessories, added sparkle, dew drops and polka dots!!  Lots of love in these.  I really enjoyed making them!

In the next few days I can reveal my PK GLITZ design team projects, I have to wait for them to post them, then I can show you!!  I also have to show you another finished project, the one I was calling the “MANTEL PROJECT”  It is done..pictures soon!!  Let me know how you like the ATC’s!!!!

I am entering a contest of sorts to try to be a guest designer for a FUN company called – PK GLITZ, INC.

Here is a link to the Challenge:  P K Glitz, Inc.

They required 2 entries.  A scrapbook page and a card.  We were to follow the sketch they gave and interpret it as our own, putting some GLITZ on the page or using one of their products as part of the design.  I only own glitter, so that is what I used.  Here are my entries:
