January Guest Designer for My Time Made Easy…..YEAH!!!!

31 Dec

1st of all just let me say:

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!!!

Now that I got that said, onto my post 🙂

Have you been over to the MY TIME MADE EASY blog nand website?  If not, you are in for a serious treat.  They have the most amazing cut files, digi papers, digi stamps and acrylic stamps.

I have to say they are one of my favorite all time places to go to for inspiration, products and files.

Their cut files(templates) are truly flawless and so much fun to work with.

January 1, 2011 marks the release of their new line called

SO FORTUNATE.  I have had so much fun creating with everything in this line.  I am so happy to show you today what things I have made.

The things that I have used are:

So Fortunate © – Pretty Packaging © Template

So Fortunate © 24 Images – Acyrlic Stamp Set

What’s My Fortune? Cookie © Pretty Pieces © Cut File

Blooming Cherries, Fun and Fortune and Plum Pretties Printables Digital Papers

I have made 2 different sets to show off.

First let’s go with my PINK project!

I wanted to really make my Cherry Blossoms stand out, they were taller than the box they way I did it, so I just made and additional wrap around handle and sewed all around my stamped images to really make them stand out.

She is soo cute.  Can you see that adorable TINY fortune cookie I made.  That was my own creation 🙂

That cookie is so small, a nightmare to do 🙂  But remember that is MINE not My Time Made Easy, because nothing of theirs is a nightmare.

Now, onto my PURPLE project.

I have to show off here a little bit.  You see that fortune cookie hanging off the take out box, that is made from wool.  I used the .pdf of the What’s my fortune cookie cut file and transformed it into a durable wool felt fortune cookie

It can be used over and over again.  I secured it to the handles with a ball chain.

So you notice how the lantern is 3-D?  I stamped the image about 20 times and cut it out to create that thumb sized lantern.

Here you can really see the dimension.

No this is NOT a mauve project, just was hard to get a good shot, it was night time.

This is the inside of the card.

Wouldn’t this be a great gift set to recieve?  The fortune attached to the take out box says, “Chinese takeout is in your future”

This new release from My Time Made Easy  new release wouldn’t be fun without several great ideas, so be sure you visit the team for an amazing BLOG HOP, packed with inspiration for the New Year!

Those are the words from the MY TIME MADE EASY folks!  Have fun on the HOP!!  Try their things, I promise you will not be disappointed!

It all started with this little guy…..

22 Nov

Once upon a time…there was a little ADORABLE alien, that I found online.

I was making some cards for THE RONDALD MCDONALD HOUSE for boys, and I happened upon this little guy.  I found him on my Jamie Lane’s blog, BITS OF PAPER.

The alien is based on a drawing by Jamie’s sister.  Her  blog is called ART BY J. M. RUSH, oh please treat yourself and look at her art!!

Here is the original  NON, CUT FILE alien!!

Here is the card I created, with this alien of Jamie and her sisters.

Here is the ALIEN!!

I think I must have read on Jamie’s blog…if we use the file..she’d love to see what we did with it.  So, for some reason, I took a picture of it and sent it to her.

At that point..I was only creating sporadically, I had not blog…no time, etc.  Jamie really liked the card and we got to emailing back and forth and really, she IS the reason, I have a blog.

Maybe she saw some potential or something in my little ALIEN card or something, but she has been a true inspiration and mentor to me in this BLOG world.

She has given me leads, advice, ideas and let’s not forget, she has given my my all time FAVORITE paper punch in the world.

We did a trade of sorts…and this is one of the things she sent me, along with some of the most fabulous and fun products ever, have I said thank you Jamie, I mean thank you, enough, yet?  I don’t think so.

Jamie creates for lots of wonderful companies..to name a few…

I am certain this list will continue to grow, she is so talented.

You can look at the wonderful assortment of freebie patterns Jamie has on her blog.  Once again the link is http://jamielanedesigns.blogspot.com/

Her files are located in the RIGHT HAND COLUMN and are under the title;  Free SCAL & SVG Files

I had asked for ideas on things to see on my blog, Jamie mentioned she’d like for me to show the process of how I edit some of my pictures.  So today, let me give you a brief overview on my favorite things to use in  Photoshop Elements.  Todays subject..two ADORABLE little kids that belong to a really wonderful person!

Here is a BEFORE PICTURE!!

Really, there is not a lot to do to this, this is a WONDERFUL picture!  But..we can still play right?

With this one, I just did some basic adjustments.

I saved this one as GLOW, so I must have diffused some glow on this one. 🙂

This one, here I applied a TTV frame to and also I mimicked an action that I love from Paint Shop Pro called the GLAMOR effect.

This one, I did a lot to.  It is fun and would be a great picture for a special occasion or scrapbook page.

Here is my Final…and my favorite.  I will attempt to tell you how (the recipe) for this one.

With this, I started with my original photo, and immediately duplicated the layers of this photo 2 times.

The 1st layer (the 1st copy – not the origianl background layer) I applied a Gaussian blur to this layer.

The 2nd layer (again not the background layer) I applied a blending layer called Color Burn and left it at 100%.

Next I applied my TTV frame.

I sized it to where I wanted it to fit the picture and dropped my opacity down to 21%.

I this duplicated that layer (set at 21%) and set that layer’s opacity to 13%.

Lastly I duplicated that layer (set at 13%) and set that layer’s opacity to 2%.

I have noticed that when I start editing pictures, I never or rarely take the same path twice.  It is all about playing.  You never copy or save over your original, so there is really nothing to lose!

Today’s FREEBIE, in honor of JAMIE, will be and EDITED picture of your choice by me.

I will take you picture and do these kind of effect to them and send you back your files to print or use digitally.

Remember it has to be a high quality pixel picture and not 72 dpi or something like that.

Please visit Jamie and if you do let her know that Jeannie sent you over!

Leave a comment and on next MONDAY’s post, I will announce the winner!  Send you friend over and they mention your name..you get an EXTRA ENTRY!

  • Leave a comment = One Entry
  • Send a Friend = One Entry
  • Follow my Blog = One Entry
  • Visit Jamie and leave a comment = One Entry
  • Fiskateer’s post your Fiskateer Number in comment = One Entry

Be sure to let me know HOW MANY entries you qualify for and what photo technique is your favorite.

Lastly, Jamie gave me some wonderful tips on things to make with SHRINK FILM.  Remember SHRINKY DINKS???

GRAFIX ARTS’s is re-releasing their BLACK shrink film.  I had so much fun playing around with this stuff.  Let me show you some things I made using this film.

Be sure to check out BOTH SMILE BOX videos as they are of different projects using that FABULOUS film.  You can purchase from GRAFIX here:

Thanks for letting me introduce Jamie to you…I hope you have enjoyed my TRIBUTE of sorts, to her!!

JAMIE..YOU ARE THE BEST!!!

Like mother, like daughter? You decide!

16 Nov

Not meaning to sound like a broken record, remember, I recently had a birthday?  My kids were not able to really do anything, since my hubby, works out of town.  Days are long for all of us and to expect for BIRTHDAYS to be celebrated ON OUR BIRTHDAY, is a thing of the past.  BUT, my 11 year old…went way out of her way and created this card for me.  I had to share it because I was really impressed with the aspects of her design, and how she made her own patterns for ALL OF IT!!

Here is the Front of the Card…I have NO IDEA why she thinks I am 41…strange, huh??

Here is the INSIDE left page:

Can you see that she did a wheel to turn..telling me my different fortunes?

Some of my fortunes were, I will have 30 grandchildren (PLEASE, NO!!)

When I am old I will have SUPER POWERS (PLEASE, YES)

I will have a bad hair day (HEY!!)

One of my kids will me a millionaire (HOORAY!!!)

Inside Right of the card..there is that 41 again…???

Here is the back of the card.

The amazing part of the back, is that she created a little pocket with a flap that opens up.

Inside she tucked her $1.00 bill that she JUST got from her Grandma for Halloween.  How sweet is that?  She wanted me to go buy myself some chocolate!

I especially wanted my friend Christina to see this.

Her blog is http://cg-says.blogspot.com/

She can do the MOST amazing things with cards…When I got this card from my daughter I thought, hey there are parts of this the really intricate card makers, like Christina, would like!  So that is why I am sharing my wonderful birthday card with you today!

Now for some new NEWS!!!!……

I have been invited to be a member of Cheery Lynn Designs.  They are partnered with a company called DIRECT DIES.

I will be making things with their wafer this dies.  I can’t wait to see what dies I get to create things with.  It looks to be a fabulous team.  Here is the link to the Team announcement. http://cheerylynndesigns.blogspot.com/

Some of my favorite so far are their line of VEGGIE TALES dies!!  Oh they are soooo cute!

I had to share my good news, hopefully, you will like the stuff I create and want to get your own dies too!

I think that is it for today!!

Good bye 🙂

This will be my Favorite post EVER!!!! Be sure to read!

1 Nov

I have had an idea brewing for a while now and today I am putting my plan into ACTION.  There are so many crafty people in this world.  So many different styles and personalities.  I get inspiration from many sources and today I am going to start a monthly spotlight of my TOP 10 people who inspire me.  To go along with my Spotlight, I will have a unique giveaway catered to the STYLE of the person I am spotlighting.  Some of my Favorite People, will actively participate, I will let all of them know.  So today, let me introduce you to one of my favorite, most creative, spunky, fun and amazing people.

Her name is Deena Ziegler.

I happened upon Deena’s website, a while back and was instantly drawn to her style.  I think my style is very much like hers, since we seem to use a lot of the same colors, etc in our projects.  However, I am no match for Deena.  Google her name and you can see how busy this lady is.  A couple of my favorite links on Deena:

On her blog she often features her children and I love that she is really modest and down to earth.  She is sweet and caring and is a real person.  She has this to say about what she does:

“First, I’m a mom to two girls that are growing up quicker than I’d like. They keep me busy with school activities and horseback riding. They both love to craft and join me in my work room every day. They especially like to use up all my adhesive and smash my marker tips. When my second daughter was a toddler and I was in full stay at home mom mode I accepted an invitation to teach at my local scrapbook store where I still teach to this day.

Soon I had started teaching a class called Creative Cards. Attendance was up and down but I kept at it for the last seven years and now have two sold out classes every month. I appreciate each and every one of my customers and I cherish the personal relationships that I have with them. While I don’t see an end in sight for my in person teaching I was ready to take Creative Cards to a new level.  I now offer my kits to anyone out of my teaching area or for those that just can’t make it to class and Creative Cards Homeschool was launched.”

You can read her full ABOUT ME BIO, here:  http://deenaziegler.typepad.com/my_weblog/about.html

Having mentioned Creative Cards Homeschool, I can not give this enough praise.  I have been a participant for quite a while now.  I do not feel that I need to have guidance for making cards.  I can easily come up with my own designs.  But, what I love about Deena’s Creative Cards Homeschool are:

  • The assortment of DIES that she uses
  • Her color combinations
  • Her vast assortment of Ribbons and Buttons
  • Her Whimsical Phrases
  • Her hard work to precut and package everything
  • The CONVENIENCE of having everything in one package

I am not in a position to own or have access to all that Deena has, so it is kind of like she is SHARING not only her talent, but her STASH with us!  What I usually do and am going to show you today, is how you can either use her card kit and follow her pattern and guidelines, OR do what I do, use the supplies and make your own MAGIC!  I love the challenge of taking all the things that has been designated for one card and trying to make the card completely my own.  I usually have success, sometimes it can be hard, but most times it works.  Take a tour of OCTOBER’S CREATIVE CARDS HOMESCHOOL KIT:

Here is the Kit in its package:

26 Oct

Hello friends..family?  I am doing today’s post hoping to drum up some ideas.  How does a blog keep going?  I know I post my finished products, if I did a “HOW TO” tutorial, would anyone want to see that?

Is there anything I DO in particular, that you wonder…hmmm, I’d love to know HOW to do that?  Let me know…I would love to pass on info or talent..not that I feel I have MORE than the average person….but really, is there something I could do more of?

If I challenged, would anyone play along?  What do you all like for GIVEAWAYS?  Ok, I know I have only done 2.  I don’t have the money to put together PACKAGES and mail them off…Heaven knows, I have enough supplies to though!

Just please, if you are reading…let me know if you have any thoughts.

Upcoming EVENTS:

1)  Next week, I will be introducing you to a FABULOUS inspiration of MINE!!  Her name is Deena Ziegler.  I hope you will enjoy her as much as I do.  Without giving too much away…look forward to my post on MONDAY, as she will be my spotlight.  You will NOT be sorry!!

2) Christmas Cards…..ugh…NASTY WORDS for those of us who THINK they are going to make them….right?  Well coming up, I will demo my CHRISTMAS cards for this year and there will be a FREEBIE to go along.  So, you see?  I do have a FEW things up my sleeve.

I’ve gone INTERNATIONAL!!

19 Oct

A few weeks ago, I had posted some card that I had done for TUESDAY TRIO.  This is an International blog based in Israel.  They were doing a Design Team call and I applied.  I needed to do 3 different cards and then they would choose their team.  I had the HONOR of being selected.  I am very excited about this.  This is a whole new ballgame.  This is participating with people from different parts of the world.  I love that we can all come together on common ground through our talents.

Here is the sketch that is the current challenge!  Maybe you should join the fun!!

Here is my version of the sketch.

One other look:

The added challenge to make something 3D on the project.  So can you see that my strawberry is actually a paper pillow?  I also 3-D’d the frame to make it all POP out!

The new DESIGN TEAM is being announced on the TUESDAY TRIO blog today.  All the designer’s and I are putting on a blog hop.  I would love for my readers, followers to hop through these blogs.  Those that are not from the US, usually have a translation option at the top of the page.  So please help me celebrate and hop through the BLOG HOP.  This BLOG HOP has a a few things to remember!  To be eligible for the freebie, you will need to collect keywords from each blog.  My blog code word is cloud, in hebrew it is ענן.  So there you have this blog’s word!

Here are some tips from our leader:

What’s this Blog-Hop?
Good of you to ask.
Blog Hop is, as the name suggests, a list of blogs for you to hop to.
Each of the eight members of our DT will post a new post, listing the members of the DT and linking to their personal blogs.
Each of them recieved a word (or two) related to out topic: Fall, and she will plant it/them within the text of her post.
Notice that those words will not be in color or bold, or specific in any way. To find it you’ll have to actualy read the post, which is the whole purpose, cause only by reading can you get to know the writer.
Why have we hidden words? Cause I felt like giving a little reward for the effort of hopping between eight blogs and reading eight posts (nine, including this one).
I have taken into account that some of you do not understand Hebrw, and some do not understand English (our team is international), and so all of the words will be written in both languages (if possible).
If you’ll go through all eight blogs, collect all he words (eight of them) and email them to me at tuesday3trio@gmail.com will get my brand new digital kit. This kit will be put out for sale as soon as the Blog Hop is over, and only those who will get all the words will receive it free. Also, I’ll attach a few brand new digital stamps (my firsts).

Here is the list of girls and blogs – clicking each name will transfer you to that member’s blog. It doesn’t matter where you start, just remember to see them all.

I am in so much trouble!!

15 Oct

Ok…I graduated in 1987…Married in 1989…Had my first child in 1991…Started SCRAPBOOKING in 1992.

Since 1992, I have always done the traditional scrapbook thing.  Remember, taking a roll of pictures,  taking the film to the store..waiting for the pics, picking them up, throwing half of them away because they were lousy?

Oh those were the days.  Fast forward to now.

DIGITAL CAMERAS.

Now we take oodles of pictures, load them onto our computer and complain because we can’t afford to print them out etc.

What does this all mean?

Well, I have already announced that I am designing for a start-up company, THE LOLLIPOP PRESS.  I was brought on to be a HYBRID girl.  Hybrid girl, I will be, but thanks to JESSICA, I am really starting to get hooked on this digital process.

AGH!!!!  I DO NOT, I REPEAT, I DO NOT NEED ANOTHER HOBBY!!

But hey, this one is not messy right?  Also, this is a way to get through all those pics on the computer that are sitting there patiently waiting for me to do something with them.  I can make some DIGI PAGES, if I can print them out some day, OR I can simply do something like make slide shows on my computer put to music and this can be very cost effective.

So, I want to show you again, and will keep highlighting, my works in progress as I learn new things.  At the bottom of this post I am posting me DIGI page I did for THE LOLLIPOP PRESS, just because I wanted to try my hand at it.  Remember, my ALPHABET GIVEAWAY is still going..so if you want a chance to win a piece of art designed by ME with YOUR pictures..be sure to sign up, leave a comment on the post titled : October 12

Have I lost my touch? Trying something new, then!

On, with this post:  Here is another one of my DIGI LESSON final products.  In this lesson, I learned how to draw that brown outline around my pics, but more importantly how to make the brown out line not got through my words.  There are some techy terms I could throw at you here, but I will refrain!

Here is my Lesson 2 finished product.  In this one I learned how to make that shape in the back (the pink one) and apply a patterned paper to it.  I always add stuff that are not included in the lesson..but this is pretty much close to the lesson agenda.

Lastly if you happen over to THE LOLLIPOP PRESS today, you will see that I am the Designer of the day.  Hooray!  If you scroll down on THE LOLLIPOP PRESS page, you can see other Designers pages made with the same supplies.  The possibilities are endless with THE LOLLIPOP PRESS‘s kits.  I hope you enjoyed my sharing for the day!!

Here is my featured page on THE LOLLIPOP PRESS‘s home page.
