This will be my Favorite post EVER!!!! Be sure to read!

1 Nov

I have had an idea brewing for a while now and today I am putting my plan into ACTION.  There are so many crafty people in this world.  So many different styles and personalities.  I get inspiration from many sources and today I am going to start a monthly spotlight of my TOP 10 people who inspire me.  To go along with my Spotlight, I will have a unique giveaway catered to the STYLE of the person I am spotlighting.  Some of my Favorite People, will actively participate, I will let all of them know.  So today, let me introduce you to one of my favorite, most creative, spunky, fun and amazing people.

Her name is Deena Ziegler.

I happened upon Deena’s website, a while back and was instantly drawn to her style.  I think my style is very much like hers, since we seem to use a lot of the same colors, etc in our projects.  However, I am no match for Deena.  Google her name and you can see how busy this lady is.  A couple of my favorite links on Deena:

On her blog she often features her children and I love that she is really modest and down to earth.  She is sweet and caring and is a real person.  She has this to say about what she does:

“First, I’m a mom to two girls that are growing up quicker than I’d like. They keep me busy with school activities and horseback riding. They both love to craft and join me in my work room every day. They especially like to use up all my adhesive and smash my marker tips. When my second daughter was a toddler and I was in full stay at home mom mode I accepted an invitation to teach at my local scrapbook store where I still teach to this day.

Soon I had started teaching a class called Creative Cards. Attendance was up and down but I kept at it for the last seven years and now have two sold out classes every month. I appreciate each and every one of my customers and I cherish the personal relationships that I have with them. While I don’t see an end in sight for my in person teaching I was ready to take Creative Cards to a new level.  I now offer my kits to anyone out of my teaching area or for those that just can’t make it to class and Creative Cards Homeschool was launched.”

You can read her full ABOUT ME BIO, here:  http://deenaziegler.typepad.com/my_weblog/about.html

Having mentioned Creative Cards Homeschool, I can not give this enough praise.  I have been a participant for quite a while now.  I do not feel that I need to have guidance for making cards.  I can easily come up with my own designs.  But, what I love about Deena’s Creative Cards Homeschool are:

  • The assortment of DIES that she uses
  • Her color combinations
  • Her vast assortment of Ribbons and Buttons
  • Her Whimsical Phrases
  • Her hard work to precut and package everything
  • The CONVENIENCE of having everything in one package

I am not in a position to own or have access to all that Deena has, so it is kind of like she is SHARING not only her talent, but her STASH with us!  What I usually do and am going to show you today, is how you can either use her card kit and follow her pattern and guidelines, OR do what I do, use the supplies and make your own MAGIC!  I love the challenge of taking all the things that has been designated for one card and trying to make the card completely my own.  I usually have success, sometimes it can be hard, but most times it works.  Take a tour of OCTOBER’S CREATIVE CARDS HOMESCHOOL KIT:

26 Oct

Hello friends..family?  I am doing today’s post hoping to drum up some ideas.  How does a blog keep going?  I know I post my finished products, if I did a “HOW TO” tutorial, would anyone want to see that?

Is there anything I DO in particular, that you wonder…hmmm, I’d love to know HOW to do that?  Let me know…I would love to pass on info or talent..not that I feel I have MORE than the average person….but really, is there something I could do more of?

If I challenged, would anyone play along?  What do you all like for GIVEAWAYS?  Ok, I know I have only done 2.  I don’t have the money to put together PACKAGES and mail them off…Heaven knows, I have enough supplies to though!

Just please, if you are reading…let me know if you have any thoughts.

Upcoming EVENTS:

1)  Next week, I will be introducing you to a FABULOUS inspiration of MINE!!  Her name is Deena Ziegler.  I hope you will enjoy her as much as I do.  Without giving too much away…look forward to my post on MONDAY, as she will be my spotlight.  You will NOT be sorry!!

2) Christmas Cards…..ugh…NASTY WORDS for those of us who THINK they are going to make them….right?  Well coming up, I will demo my CHRISTMAS cards for this year and there will be a FREEBIE to go along.  So, you see?  I do have a FEW things up my sleeve.

I’ve gone INTERNATIONAL!!

19 Oct

A few weeks ago, I had posted some card that I had done for TUESDAY TRIO.  This is an International blog based in Israel.  They were doing a Design Team call and I applied.  I needed to do 3 different cards and then they would choose their team.  I had the HONOR of being selected.  I am very excited about this.  This is a whole new ballgame.  This is participating with people from different parts of the world.  I love that we can all come together on common ground through our talents.

Here is the sketch that is the current challenge!  Maybe you should join the fun!!

Here is my version of the sketch.

One other look:

The added challenge to make something 3D on the project.  So can you see that my strawberry is actually a paper pillow?  I also 3-D’d the frame to make it all POP out!

The new DESIGN TEAM is being announced on the TUESDAY TRIO blog today.  All the designer’s and I are putting on a blog hop.  I would love for my readers, followers to hop through these blogs.  Those that are not from the US, usually have a translation option at the top of the page.  So please help me celebrate and hop through the BLOG HOP.  This BLOG HOP has a a few things to remember!  To be eligible for the freebie, you will need to collect keywords from each blog.  My blog code word is cloud, in hebrew it is ענן.  So there you have this blog’s word!

Here are some tips from our leader:

What’s this Blog-Hop?
Good of you to ask.
Blog Hop is, as the name suggests, a list of blogs for you to hop to.
Each of the eight members of our DT will post a new post, listing the members of the DT and linking to their personal blogs.
Each of them recieved a word (or two) related to out topic: Fall, and she will plant it/them within the text of her post.
Notice that those words will not be in color or bold, or specific in any way. To find it you’ll have to actualy read the post, which is the whole purpose, cause only by reading can you get to know the writer.
Why have we hidden words? Cause I felt like giving a little reward for the effort of hopping between eight blogs and reading eight posts (nine, including this one).
I have taken into account that some of you do not understand Hebrw, and some do not understand English (our team is international), and so all of the words will be written in both languages (if possible).
If you’ll go through all eight blogs, collect all he words (eight of them) and email them to me at tuesday3trio@gmail.com will get my brand new digital kit. This kit will be put out for sale as soon as the Blog Hop is over, and only those who will get all the words will receive it free. Also, I’ll attach a few brand new digital stamps (my firsts).

Here is the list of girls and blogs – clicking each name will transfer you to that member’s blog. It doesn’t matter where you start, just remember to see them all.

I am in so much trouble!!

15 Oct

Ok…I graduated in 1987…Married in 1989…Had my first child in 1991…Started SCRAPBOOKING in 1992.

Since 1992, I have always done the traditional scrapbook thing.  Remember, taking a roll of pictures,  taking the film to the store..waiting for the pics, picking them up, throwing half of them away because they were lousy?

Oh those were the days.  Fast forward to now.

DIGITAL CAMERAS.

Now we take oodles of pictures, load them onto our computer and complain because we can’t afford to print them out etc.

What does this all mean?

Well, I have already announced that I am designing for a start-up company, THE LOLLIPOP PRESS.  I was brought on to be a HYBRID girl.  Hybrid girl, I will be, but thanks to JESSICA, I am really starting to get hooked on this digital process.

AGH!!!!  I DO NOT, I REPEAT, I DO NOT NEED ANOTHER HOBBY!!

But hey, this one is not messy right?  Also, this is a way to get through all those pics on the computer that are sitting there patiently waiting for me to do something with them.  I can make some DIGI PAGES, if I can print them out some day, OR I can simply do something like make slide shows on my computer put to music and this can be very cost effective.

So, I want to show you again, and will keep highlighting, my works in progress as I learn new things.  At the bottom of this post I am posting me DIGI page I did for THE LOLLIPOP PRESS, just because I wanted to try my hand at it.  Remember, my ALPHABET GIVEAWAY is still going..so if you want a chance to win a piece of art designed by ME with YOUR pictures..be sure to sign up, leave a comment on the post titled : October 12

Have I lost my touch? Trying something new, then!

On, with this post:  Here is another one of my DIGI LESSON final products.  In this lesson, I learned how to draw that brown outline around my pics, but more importantly how to make the brown out line not got through my words.  There are some techy terms I could throw at you here, but I will refrain!

Here is my Lesson 2 finished product.  In this one I learned how to make that shape in the back (the pink one) and apply a patterned paper to it.  I always add stuff that are not included in the lesson..but this is pretty much close to the lesson agenda.

Lastly if you happen over to THE LOLLIPOP PRESS today, you will see that I am the Designer of the day.  Hooray!  If you scroll down on THE LOLLIPOP PRESS page, you can see other Designers pages made with the same supplies.  The possibilities are endless with THE LOLLIPOP PRESS‘s kits.  I hope you enjoyed my sharing for the day!!

Here is my featured page on THE LOLLIPOP PRESS‘s home page.

Today, I leave with you a thought:

Just remember, we all have to start somewhere!!

12 Oct

Why do I have a blog?  Hmmmm?  Well, I think mostly it is because, I look at it as a friend to talk to?  Who else could I share ideas, things with?  There is no one REAL around me that calls me for advice, or says hey, show me what you did today?  My husband has more pressing things to worry about, I bore my kids, but hey, My Blog?  No complaining or whining whatsoever.  But, do I need a new direction here?  I would love to appeal to more people!  I am going to start on a new path.  Not leaving my old one, NO WAY!

My new path?  I am becoming a Jessica Sprague groupie.  I had purchased some classes through her EONS ago and never got around to actually doing them!  Well she just recently had a SALE and I was able to get some tutorials at a great price.  I have always been a COREL PSP X2 girl, but I was getting frustrated converting things over to use in Corel, since most things are geared towards Adobe.  So what’s a Corel girl to do?

I don’t have the answer to that, but I have decided to at least stop being so ANTI-ADOBE and start learning it after all.  This weekend, I proudly did MANY of my JESSICA classes.  I am going to share with you what I learned.  OH, and I have something AMAZING, to show you at the end of this blog post, so stay with me to the end!

Here is my 1st Digi project:

Pretty cool, huh?  Ok YEAH it is a TEMPLATE, but STILL!!!  I did it!  This was actually a FREE online class the Template came along with the lesson.  I even had to expand my horizons a bit because I did not have a picture of the hubby and me that would fit in that BIG picture space, so I had to add the POLKA DOT paper in the back!  Figured that one out all by my little self!

Here is another finished TEMPLATE.  They are sooooo easy!  This was another FREE tutorial on Jessica Sprague.com.

I love this one!  I made NO MESS doing this page.  Ok, that is definitely a digital scrapping PLUS!!  I went out of the box with this one also.  All the elements(fruity stuff) were added by me! Not part of the lesson!  Sooooo, how did I do???

Drumroll please!  I have had these ABC things forever and could not for the life of me get them to work on COREL.  After my lessons with Jessica, I decided to try.  I almost THREW the laptop out the window after one failure after another last night.  But seriously, last night in a dream, I figured out HOW to do it.  So without further ado, here is something I am very PROUD of.

Proud that I figured out how to do it, without relying on my 19 year old to figure it out for me!

I did it all on my own!

Well?  What do you think?  Let me know 🙂   I am so excited about these ABC letters!  The possibilities are ENDLESS.  If I can generate enough interest, could this work into a small business for me?   Who knows??

I will offer a freebie here.   If you really like my ALPHABET creation, here is my idea!

I will create as my GIVEAWAY one (1) letter of your choice.

Think, your child’s inital, your first name initial, your last name initial, and if you are my RANDOMLY drawn as my winner from this post, I will create one 4 x 4 letter, with random pictures of your choice.(But, my choosing of placement)

I will prepare your letter to be framed, or placed in a scrapbook, with the colors of your choosing!

How does that sound for my VERY FIRST GIVEAWAY!!   The more of my challenges you complete, the more times your name gets put in for the drawing!

Here are the challenges:

1) Subscribe to my Blog (Top of my blog column, first item. Says “DOT ME IN!”)

2) Put my Blog Badge on your blog. (If you have one) You can find this one the blog under the heading “GRAB MY BADGE”

3) Become a “friend” on FACEBOOK. (Look for link on the blog)

4) Refer a friend! For a friend, even more than one, that leaves a comment saying you sent them, you both get a BONUS entry into the Giveaway!

5) If you are a FISKATEER, let me know your FISKA # for an extra entry!

I will keep this open for one week. The prize winner will be announced on my BLOG POST next Monday, October 18, 2010. I will take all entries up to NOON October 18, 2010, Pacific Standard Time.

This will be a great way for me to see if this is something that sparks people’s interest enough to pursue it!

So, I thank you in advance for your help, participation enthusiasm, cheerleading, etc!

Remember, for me, to make this for you, you have to be comfortable emailing me pics and allowing me to mail you the finished product to an address of your choice!

Good luck, if you really, really like this, I hope you are the winner!!!!  I can’t wait to create something for the LUCKY WINNER!!!!

When you complete all the challenges that you are able to do, please leave a comment telling me how many challenges you did, so I know how many times to enter your name!!

Honesty is the best policy, so please, well you know….be honest:)

Have a great rest of your MONDAY!!

I’m so proud of this!!

The Design Team over at THE LOLLIPOP PRESS, are all busy making projects with the wonderful Digital Designs in the STORE.  I am a HYBRID designer.  Which means, I focus more on TRADITIONAL scrapbooking (paper, adhesive, scissors, etc.) but that I use the Digital Elements and Pages in my Scrapbooking.  It is a wonderful combination.  I will never be able to give up the look and feel of Traditional Scrapbooking, so I am learning to use the Digital Elements to my advantage.

Here are some examples of HYBRID Scrapbooking.  Layouts and pictures were created using;  THE LOLLIPOP PRESS, SHADED CHIC line.

For those of you who do not know what “HYBRID” is.  Here is an example.  Please know, I am only a NOVICE at this and the results possible by professionals, are unbelievable.  Even with my small know how here is what I did.

Here is my BEFORE picture.

Just a lovely plain picture.

Here, I have added just a couple of digital elements, to create a unique picture.

Here again, we have a cute little picture…

Here is the same picture with just a little bit of “MAGIC.”

Once again, here is a BEFORE, picture…

and, just a bit of “WOW.”

Now, you can see how I have used the DIGITAL ELEMENTS to create my actual HANDS ON Scrapbook pages. These are not DIGITAL PAGES, they are TRADITIONAL PAGES, that I will put in a scrapbook.

Here they are together, it was hard to get a good picture side by side, sorry.

So there you have it, a mini HYBRID taste.

Please, watch the SMILEBOX to see more detail of what went into making the pictures and pages.

All of the elements I have used can be purchased HERE at this link, so head on over to THE LOLLIPOP PRESS and see the other Digital Kits that are available in addition to this.

Have a great day!

What artist inspires you???

30 Sep

I design for a fun, fun blog called, If It’s Groovy.  We call ourselves the Groovy Chicks!

One of our most recent challenges was to find an artist inspires us, and do a layout based on one of their pieces of art.  Here is the info about my ARTIST!

This was great fun. I chose to go a little un-traditional and chose and artist that might not fall under the same category as the MASTERS.

Ever since I was a child I have loved BARBAR THE ELEPHANT. I can remember the stories even as I sit and write this. The paintings are always done in bright cheery colors. I think that must

be why I like Laurent de Brunhoff, so much.

The BARBAR paintings were originally done by Jean de Brunhoff. Laurent, his son, took over BARBAR when his dad died of tuberulosis at the age of 37.

This page is dedicated to my older son because 2 of his favorite things in the world are elephants and hot air balloons.

Here is the painting I chose:

Here is my layout based on the painting:

Close up upper page:

Close up: Lower half-

The phrase on the Layout says:

“Life affords no greater

RESPONSIBILITY,

no greater PRIVILEGE,

than the RAISING  of

the next

generation.”

I always love feed back, let me know how you liked this challenge and check out the

If it’s Groovy blog

for the other team members layouts.

2 down, 1 to go!

28 Sep

My last post was about the WONDERFUL blog  Tuesday trio.  I am participating in their search for a new Design Team member.

This blog is not from the US, so it has been so much fun to see talent from across the globe.

I hope to be part of their team, just for the mere experience.

This is Challenge 2 of the 3 I was able to get in on.

Here is the sketch and the additional challenge for this sketch was to make something HAPPY!!

Sketch # 35

Here is my interpretation, how do you think I did???

Side view:

Close up of flowers with the POLKA DOT brads!  Gotta love em’!!!

Can’t wait to go check out Sketch #36, I will post that one in a couple of days!  Bye for now!!!

I stumbled upon this the other day….

25 Sep

What a fun website!  Check out http://tuesdaytrio.blogspot.com/. This website assigns challenges and it is a bilingual site.  I think that makes it all the more challenging.  You are sort of  “competing” with people with an entirely.  different style, not to mention a world of different supplies on hand, I would assume.  So, I am up for the challenge.  I think it would be awesome to work with people from a different country.  Here is the sketch for the challenge.  They are looking for Design Team member and I have to participate in 3 of 4 assigned challenges.  I missed the 1st, because I only found the site 2 days ago, and barely made this deadline.  But, here is the sketch for Sketch #34.

In addition to the Sketch, they also give you a bonus item to increase the challenge.  The challenge for Sketch # 34 was…….BUTTONS!!!!!  Could anything be more fun than buttons??  So, without further ado, here is my card..as usual, I am posting multiple pics, because I can’t ever decide on just one!  Let me know what you think?  Especially go to the website and see what other did for the sketch!  Have a great weekend!!

I hope everyone is having a great weekend!  I am off to try to have a great one!!  More, next week!!!!!!!!!!!!!

OK Ladies!! Drop Everything and follow the link!
