Patriotic Summer Decor

13 Jun
Few things conjure up thoughts and memories of summer then 4th of July, don’t you agree?
I love 4th of July festive colors and indoor/outdoor decor but don’t have much of it.
I created this little plaque to start my own collection of 4th of July decor.
I started with a plain piece of wood and covered it with some paper from Authentique Paper’s Genuine line.
I then added to the background using the hearts from the stamp set called Gratitude and embossed them with Metallic Platinum Sparkle.
All the butterflies are from the wonderfully fun set called Build a Butterfly.
Each butterfly and coordinating smaller butterflies are embossed in the following 3 powders:
I love the way this turned out…what do you think?
Do you like to make things for the holidays?
What have you got planned for the summer?
I just hope to get through the day without melting!!
I hope you have enjoyed today’s post.

Fun Card with Wow Embossing Powders

27 Feb
Today I am going to briefly tell you how to make a card shaped like a matchbook, but not tiny, like a real matchbook.
First start out with a rectangle that is 3 5/8″ x 8″.   Fold in half matching the short ends and then score another parallel fold line, 1/4″ next to your 1st fold line.
Here I have already scored, folded and opened back up the card.  I then took a piece of decorative paper that was 3 1/4 ” wide by 3 1/2 ” tall, and adhered it to my card front.
Next a took and cut our a decorative shape of paper from white cardstock.  When ever you want to use a shape and have it completely covered with enameled embossing powder, cut the shape out first!  The embossed enamel will stick to your die!
You will see the finished piece below..but for now on to the next step.
To make the matchbox closure, take a decorative border about 3/4″ tall and decorate to your liking. I used eyelets and decorative border punches.
You will see the final product in a couple more pics..but for now on to the next step.
Here I have taken a piece of chip board and have embossed the front with Cotton candy.  While the enamel was still drying, I quickly used a stylus to carve some of the enamel off.  The final result?  It leaves white marks wherever you have etched off the enamel, pretty cool, eh?
Here is my card front:  The embossed red is called CABLE CAR RED.  The GRATITUDE ticket stamp is from the GRATITUDE stamp set.
I love the way that COTTON CANDY heart looks!
For the inside…I precut 2 scalloped circles.  I want to emboss them and make a ladybug, but remember, I said to be sure and cut your decorative shapes out BEFORE embossing.
Here is the ladybug on the inside of the card…isn’t she cute??  I used the FLOWERS stamp on her wings and the HEART border from the GRATITUDE stamp set.  The THANKS sentiment is also from the GRATITUDE stamp set.
Ladybug close-up.
I love the way this looks, and see the bottom border, you tuck the card front behind that to close and open the card.
Here is one last look at the card.  I love playing with these stamps and powders, it is pure FUN!.
I hope you have enjoyed this fun card, this has been Jeannie from The Polka CABANA with today’s post!

“Scents” able Card Making!!

18 Jan
I have a FUN idea to pass along to you today!
My next 2 days of cards are dedicated and made with a special friend in mind!  Dearest Michelle, I hope I make you smile!
Did you catch the clue in my title?  SCENTS able?
I am going to show you how to make a yummy smelling card!
Start with some basic supplies.  Here I have my embossing pad, my Cherry Stamp from the NEW SEASON, NEW WONDER set and some Kool-aid mix and my brand new CABLE CAR RED embossing powder from WOW EMBOSSING POWDERS.
First, mix a little of the Kool-aid powder with the embossing powder.  After you mix the 2 real good, you use the scented powder just like any other embossing powder.  You can smell it while you heat it up and the scent stays after it has embossed and dried!
I have a lot of these little empty plastic jars, so I saved the excess to use later.
I have used lots of Sassafrass fun papers and embellishments to go along with this card.
The large cherry stamp, the background on the navy blue strip and the word SWEET are all done in the scented powder.  It smells so fruity!  YUMMY!!
Here is the side view, now isn’t this a cheerful card??
Thank you for stopping by, I hope you have enjoyed this little tutorial!  If you use my idea, I’d love for you to link back to this post!
That is my WOW for today!  Have a great Wednesday!  See you next week!
