Celebrating Mother Nature

27 Jul
Today I have a cute little canvas to share with you.
Since our theme on the Cheery Lynn Designs Challenge Blog is CELEBRATION,
I decided that something involving appreciating my surroundings was what I wanted to focus on.
I’ve mentioned before how I love to save my Mary Engelbriet desk calendars for focal points on crafts and cards.
I found this in one of my calendars and it was the perfect focal point for my canvas.
I then used lots of dies and just embellished the theme around the picture.
The rainbow is made from the OVAL dies, the sunshine from the Sunflower and the frame in black around the Mary Engelbreit picture is from CUTIES 3.
What do you think?  I just love this!  It is small and just draws you is because it has so much to look at.
There there is the message!  Such a big message on such a small canvas!
I hope you have enjoyed my post today.  This has been Jeannie with The Polka Cabana with this mini canvas, have a great weekend!

Celebrating America

22 Jun
It’s hard to believe that we are nearing the 4th of July, but it is just around the corner.
Right now on the challenge blog the theme is Red, White and Blue for You, so today my project is based on that theme.
I started with a canvas from Canvas Corp and used lots of Canvas Corp paper to make this adorable 4th of July altered canvas.
I took my inspiration from the Mary Engelbreit image you see on the canvas.  This was from a small desk calendar I have.  I use the calendar on a lot of different art projects.
The strip for the base I cut with the Wittle Weavers.
The swag on the white fence is called Patriotic Swag and the fence is called Victorian Picket Fence.
The small flower by the phrase is the Medium Rose.
I also used the Scalloped Rectangles and squares,
The little banner is just made from cut of squares.
So there you have it, my take on Red, White and Blue for You.
I hope you can go over to the challenge blog and play along.

Very Thankful for this Altered Canvas with Authentiqe Paper & Grafix Arts

7 Nov
I am so excited to share my creation with you today.
I have made an altered canvas!
Incase you are wondering why I am calling this a very thankful altered canvas, it is because I am thankful to many people who have contributed to this design.
First, the makers of the canvas base.  Canvas Corp. makes all these fabulous products to alter.  Not only do they have awesome paper, they have a whole line of canvas and twine and home deco stuff.  I swear they have everything!  So thank you Canvas Corp for the awesome Canvas.
Second, the makers of the plastic I used for the charms and tree, Grafix Arts.  Have you heard of this company?
They have a ton of specialty paper and plastic products that take crafting to a whole new level.  I have been focusing on working with their Shrink Films and wow, I can’t begin to tell you what a blast I have had with their things!
Lastly, but not because of any reason , just the order my fingers chose today…I need to thank Authentique Paper.  They are of course the paper company that is the star of this canvas.  I am so grateful for the entire staff at Authentique Paper.  Beautiful people making beautiful paper products.  They have been beyond kind and generous and I truly love them all for so many reasons.
All three companies have been extremely generous and I have to say how humbled I am to have them allow me to put my name on things while representing their companies and products.
Ok, I hope you can understand why I feel a need to say a big thanks and why I am very thankful for this project today~!
I have been playing around with some different shrink films from Grafix Arts.
I had this image of doing a tree and having different charms dangling off of it.
The tree is cut from my Cricut.  I colored it with permanent markers before I baked it.
For all my charms, I scanned some of the Uncommon Noteables and printed them on to the Ink Jet Shrink film.
Although the color is not exactly the same as the real Authentique Paper colors, I liked how they look slightly antique.
I am still playing around with the coloring since the colors get more intense as the shrink film bakes.
To finish the canvas, I added lots of dangling glass beads and things.
This was so much fun to make, I loved the entire process.
I would love to hear what you think.
Well, that is it for me today.  I hope you have enjoyed my altered canvas.

Cheery Lynn Altered Canvas

2 Sep
I found this little canvas at a craft store for $1.00 and knew it’d come in handy one day.

I decided to completely cover it and re-purpose the whole canvas.

I used lots of different styles of patterned paper, all from the Splendid line from Authentique Paper.

I also experimented with a lot of our border dies to create different flowers.

It seems that the accordion flower can be made with almost any border die and each border die gives a completely different look.

Don’t be afraid to experiment and use dies in non-traditional ways.
You might just stumble upon something you like!
Thanks for stopping by, this has been Jeannie with The Polka Cabana with today’s post.
The dies used in today’s project are:
