Easter Blog Hop with Cheery Lynn Designs

15 Mar

Today we have a treat for you, our design team has been busy creating with the newly released Easter dies from Cheery Lynn Designs and we are doing a blog hop.

Visit each of the Design team members blogs and leave a comment.

One lucky person from each blog will win the Lace Egg that member used in her post.

I am using Lace Egg Three for my project today.

In addition to the chance to win the above die, if you leave a comment on the Cheery Lynn Designs blog, you will also have a chance to win the Nesting Egg dies.

For my project, I wanted to use these dies in a way to show you that even though they are Easter dies, you do not have to be limited to using them on Easter Projects only.

To start I have taken some paper towel tubes and have cut them down to just over 4 inches each.

I then covered each one with decorativve paper and used the smallest of the Scalloped Circle dies to cut out covers for the bottom only of the tubes.

They will stand up like this when finished.

Next I took the largest Nesting Egg and another Scalloped Circle and cut the shapes out like this.

I then used an assortment of dies to finish off these Babushkas.

I have used the Lace Egg Three for the sign and the apron  of each doll.

I figured these could be used for so many different occasions.

Table settings, name place cards, Mother’s Day Brunch, Baby showers just to name a few.

Each doll is decorated with paper lace and flowers from the following dies:  Pretty Petal, Lace Flourish Butterfly, Dancing Doily Lace Border, Zig Zag Ric Rac and the Stacker flowers Leaf.

Each doll holds a small treat.

I hope you liked my idea today!  Leave it to me to look for the out of ordinary way to use something, right?

Now you should go and visit each of the other team members blogs and leave a comment.

Remember:  One lucky person from each blog will win the Lace Egg that member used in her post. I used Lace Egg Three.

Also, remember, to leave a comment on the Cheery Lynn Designs blog for a chance to win the Nesting Egg dies.

Winners will be announced on the 19th along with this week’s challenge winner. Good luck and have fun hopping.

Here are the blogs that are participating in the blog hop.

Thanks for stopping by, I hope you enjoy all the projects on this hop!

Authentique Paper, where have you been my whole life?

9 Aug

Yes it is true, I have been a little on the AUTHENTIQUE PAPER soapbox lately!

If you have not tried their products, then you really do not know why I am so honored to be working with their products!

Genius is not too small of a word for some of their things!

A couple of reasons why I love Authentique Paper so much:

Quality – Sturdy and thicker that most paper, the prints are just fabulous and there are many palettes to choose from!

Design – I love that there is such a wide range within each line.

Products – My favorite has to be the Diction!  You know the little poetry magnets that you can buy?

Well these are similar, minus the poetry and minus the magnet but heavy on the miscellaneous words you can use on everything!

Here is what they look like:

You get all those word on this sturdy cardstock type sticker and there are so many different projects you can use these on!

I wanted to let you know of a tutorial I have done for Authentique Paper on 3 different cards using my favorite line called SPLENDID.

Here is a peak at the cards:

Card #1

Card #2

Card #3

All 3 together.

If you would like (and I hope you do) to see the whole tutorial, here is the link.

Leave a comment here and there and I will tally up all comments and choose a winner to win one of these!

Winner gets to choose which one!

Once again here is the link:

Be sure to leave a comment in both places, let Authentique Paper know that Jeannie sent you over!

Let me know what you think and have a great day!!

Love to you all!!!!!

Cheery Lynn Designs, Jewelry?

20 May
You read that title right. Today I am going to show you some simple jewelry and accessories I made with my Oriental Butterfly Doily.
The first step in today’s project was to cut my butterflies out. I cut them out on, Grafix Art Black Shrink film. The film is very thick and strong. Since the doily is very detailed, I chose which holes to punch all the way out. I made sure the butterfly wings were a symmetrical pattern.
Here they are before I started punching out the holes I wanted.

Here they are after I have punched out all the openings I wanted.

With 2 of the completed and cooked butterflies, I made 2 matching hair clips.

I accented them with some rhinestones and they are nice a sparkly for the official FAIRY of the house. The “Magic Fairy Princess” really loves these.

With the remaining butterfly, I made a simple necklace.
This is a jewelry finding meant for cording or ribbon.
That triangle you see pointing up, pierces through the ribbon and holds it in place while you crimp the bead closed.

You can see that there are 2 flaps/sides to this crimping bead.
You take your ribbon and fold it over itself and center it on the sharp middle of the bead.

Once the ribbon in enveloped in the center you crimp one side closed.

Making sure that you are entirely encasing the ribbon, you crimp the other side closed.

Here I am adding some beads and jump rings to center of the necklace, the butterfly.

I attached the ribbon to the butterfly, added a clasp and here is the finished set.

These are very easy to make and a great last minute gift.

To give you an idea of how much the Shrink Film, shrunk, here is a picture of the hair clips with the Oriental Butterfly Doily die.

Here is the PRINCESS with her new bling.

The butterflies are the perfect shape for these hair clips.

The whole ensemble.

Now that I have made these, I have a ton of ideas for the future.

Earrings, bracelets, bookmarks, oh my! I can think of a ton of things I can’t wait to try!

I hope you enjoyed my “NOT PAPER” project today.
Thanks for stopping by and please join us on Sunday for our Butterfly Challenge kickoff!

Fridays with Cheery Lynn Designs

25 Mar

It is a wet and rainy Friday here in “Sunny” California.

We thought Spring was here, but I guess Mother Nature has a bone to pick with us or something.

I have some springtime projects to share, thinking that Spring will be here…soon?

See the hand in the picture below?  That is my 6 year old sons hand.

He gets jealous I always use his sister as my model, so today he is the star.

His hands are small and so is my little spring project he is holding.

I started making this cone with the largest

Scalloped Circle in the Large Circle Stackers.

I am using the Core’ dinations Whitewash Collection in this project.

I embossed the paper with the BANDANA embossing plate.

I then lightly sanded to reveal the core.  I think it looks like my cone is dusted with powdered sugar.

I used the Daisy Chain Border Die to wrap around the cone and also to create the handle.
These are so tiny, they would hold a couple of pieces of chocolate.
Perfect size for a little love.

I know this might sound silly, but because this was such a small piece, I felt like I needed to show another project I just finished.

This was a little time consuming and required lots of patience but the final result was well worth it!

I started cutting the paper from the Wittle Weaver Die.

I then attached them all, forming one continuous strip and then I created the lantern.

Mono-filament thread, crystals, pearls and butterfly’s dangle from the bottom to add to the eye appeal and fun.
Of course I used the BUTTERFLY BUNDLES DIES for my butterflies.

Now that the weekend is here, have I inspired you to go an make something for Spring?
I hope so.  Thanks for stopping by today!  Happy Friday and I will be back next week.

No ordinary card today.

22 Mar

It is me, on a Tuesday sharing a new card I have made with Sweet Stamps.

If you are here for the PAPER ISSUES BLOG HOP, Click HERE.

This card is called a CENTER STEP card.

If you like it and would like to try it, I will include the pattern at the end of this post, courtesy of Sandy Hulsart.

I really enjoyed making this card.  The pattern is very easy and after making one, I am sure I will use this pattern again.

Here is a side view so you can see how the center portion of the card POP up.

The card has many surfaces to embellish, which was really a ton of fun.

The Sweet Stamps products I have used are:

Oval Lace Frame Small

Butterfly Kisses

Cheery Lynn Designs – Butterfly Bundle

I love the color scheme for this card.

I have used 4 lines of paper on this card.

The Blue patterned background is from the DEAR LIZZY ENCAHNTED line, the base is from STAMPIN’ UP!

The Yellow is from THE PAPER CO.

Lastly, all that GORGEOUS fun paper yum in from Crate Paper, EMMA’S SHOPPE.

Lots of stuff on such a small card:)

I hope you have enjoyed my version.

Head on over to Sweet Stamps Blog, to see the other Design Team’s cards.

I have had a peek and you won’t be sorry!

Join in the challenge, remember you can win a Gift Certificate to Sweet Stamps.com.

Come visit me on Friday…I will be showing off some new Cheery Lynn projects!

Here is the pattern!  Have fun!
