On the wings of …. a Butterfly!

14 Sep
Anyone else remember that song?  “On the Wings of Love”?
Hardly the inspiration for my card, but the title hit me when I was getting ready to write this post.
On the Cheery Lynn Designs Challenge blog our new challenge this week is Borders and Edgers.
I tried to incorporate that theme into my card today.
I am still using my New Release dies and still very much in love with them all.
I love how colorful this is.  I think it fits the saying perfectly.
Be sure to check out our challenge and join in on the challenge for a chance to win a $20.00 shopping spree to Cheery Lynn Designs.com.

Shopping Girl’s Dream

7 Sep
This is a little shadow box I got for $1.00 at Hobby Lobby in the clearance section because what ever was in the shadow box had been ripped off.
Knowing I would use it at some point, yep, I bought the silly thing.
I’m so lucky to have all my Cheery Lynn Designs Dies to work with. Here is what my $1.00 “purchase” turned out like.
Improvement, agree?
I took the Reflections Scalloped Circle Die, and used it as a 1/2 circle for the banners at the top.
I framed the sentiment on the bottom with Scalloped Rectangles.
All my papers are by Authentique Paper and the stamp set it called If the Shoe Fits, by Unity Stamp Co.
I think this turned out adorable and I hope you enjoyed my post today.  This has been Jeannie from The Polka Cabana posting for Cheery Lynn Designs.
Be sure and check out our Challenge blog.
Our current them is STITCHING.

Celebrating Mother Nature

27 Jul
Today I have a cute little canvas to share with you.
Since our theme on the Cheery Lynn Designs Challenge Blog is CELEBRATION,
I decided that something involving appreciating my surroundings was what I wanted to focus on.
I’ve mentioned before how I love to save my Mary Engelbriet desk calendars for focal points on crafts and cards.
I found this in one of my calendars and it was the perfect focal point for my canvas.
I then used lots of dies and just embellished the theme around the picture.
The rainbow is made from the OVAL dies, the sunshine from the Sunflower and the frame in black around the Mary Engelbreit picture is from CUTIES 3.
What do you think?  I just love this!  It is small and just draws you is because it has so much to look at.
There there is the message!  Such a big message on such a small canvas!
I hope you have enjoyed my post today.  This has been Jeannie with The Polka Cabana with this mini canvas, have a great weekend!

Christmas Time, in July?

6 Jul
It really is hard to believe we are half way through this year already.
But is you are one of those that really likes to plan ahead, we are tempting you this week over at the Cheery Lynn Challenge Blog with a Christmas July theme.
My creation today goes along with that theme.
I know I have mentioned before how I  love to use my Mary Engelbreit calendars as pieces for focal points of my cards.
What I wanted to do with this card was to somewhat mimic the scene that was going on in the Mary Engelbreit image.
You can see here the Window C, peeking from the back of the card image..
When you open up this tri-fold card you will see the small, simple scene inside the Window. I made the snow with Scalloped Circles, the stars are from the Patriotic Swag, the trees are upside down leaves from the Frangipani, and the festive colored flower is the  Frangiapni with leaves.
I also embossed the white scalloped circles with Eccentric Circles Embossing Plate to give them more dimension.
On the inside of the card, I used the Mini Pearl French Flair die for a large background piece and decorated it with the Frangiapni with leaves and Bird on Branch 2.
The white space gives a nice area for a personal note.
I love how the Franipani doubles as a “hook” to catch the corner of the image and holds this card closed.
Be sure to check out our challenge blog and we’d love for you to play along with us on our challenge for your own chance at winning a shopping spree worth $20.00 of Cheery Lynn Designs Dies.
I hope you had a wonderful holiday.

Wednesday Wowzer

30 May
It has been a whirlwind of a week for me and things have calmed slightly enough for me to create for today’s post.
Today I am using one of my favorite {ippity} sets called:
I made this card to go along with the challenge over on the
I call this card a 4 square card.
By no means did I make the card up, but the directions I had from a well published book were so lousy,
I had yo recreate the card by sheer luck.
It gathers and closes and opens like a box lid.  Here is what it looks like on the inside opened up.
You can put what ever kind of sentiment or note you want to on the inside.
On the front you have 4 mini panels to decorate.
You can use it as a large panel or break it down into 4 small ones like I have.
What do you think?
Isn’t this a cute card and pattern?  And those flower stamps??  Get OUT!!  They are the best!!
Gotta love {ippity}!
I also want to point out the delectable goodies from these other companies I am using with this project.
All embossing powders are by Wow Embossing Powders.  Love the glitter ones especially!!
All paper is from Momenta. Kaleidascope
Square die and floral embossing plate by Cheery Lynn Designs.

Summer Fun Banner

11 May
Today I have such a fun project for you to try!
I love using the Reflections Dies in their full size, but they are tons of fun when you just use the halves too!
I am using the Scalloped Oval set on this banner.
I used my digital papers from Echo Park, and created lots of bright and colorful layers as my banner base.
The top tiered portion of the banner is made with the Pennant die.
On the individual banner pieces I embellished each letter with the following dies:
For the letters I used the Optimistic Font on top of layers of Scalloped Circles.
I love all the bright and cheery colors in this!
It is always fun for me to think of new ways to use supplies and I am very happy with how this turned out.
Now, moving on, have you checked out our new challenge on the Cheery Lynn Designs Challenge Blog?
The Challenge this week is Shades of Purple.
I came across and adorable, simple card design and wanted to make this design to show you all.
Here is the card original.
Here is my PURPLE version of the same design.
For this card I used the following dies:
Scalloped Rectangles for the card mats, Black Eyed Susans and Wood Grain Embossing Plates.
Also I used the  Pennant die again because I love that die!
Lots of purple:)
What do you think you can come up with for our challenge?
We’d love to see you link up with us.  Remember there is a $20.00 gift certificate to the lucky winner of the challenge!
I hope you have enjoyed my post today, this has been Jeannie with The Polka Cabana, have a great Friday.

2 for 1 card with Cheery Lynn Designs

13 Apr
Today I am sharing 2 cards I made, just for this post.
On one of the cards I have used a new stamp I just got from {ippity} stamps, so I decided to use a sketch on an {ippity} challenge blog.  Here is the sketch.

Here is my first card.
It is a pretty simple sketch.  Since I am using some very bright and colorful MOMENTA papers, I kept my embellishments to a minimum.
Let me know how you like my flower.  If I get enough responses..maybe I can do a tutorial on how I made it!  Leave a response in the comments if you’d like me to do a tutorial.
Here is the card I made with my itty bitty Unity stamp set called Adventurous.
I used the same sketch.  The dies I used are as follows:
Here is a picture of them both together.
All my papers are from Momenta and all my embossing powders are by WOW EMBOSSING powders.
I am so thankful I have so many fun products to work with.  I hope you enjoyed how I combined different products today and that you also enjoyed the cards I have shared today.
Be sure to say YAY or NAY to the idea of a tutorial on the flower in my first card on this post.
Have you visited our new CHALLENGE blog yet?

Our current theme is THINK SPRING.
I think my cards were also inspired by the theme!

JW Illustrations + WOW Embossing + Momenta = Amazing!

12 Mar

I have a new card to share with you with and added technique.

I want to shoe you how I took a digital stamp and used multiple embossing powders to create a One of a Kind card.

I used the Digital Stamp from Jessica Weible Illustraions called HOT AIR BALLOON

What I did first was to print the image out multiple times and used an embossing pen to lay done the embossing ink and then embossed the Hot Air Balloon in the following colors.  I am using all WOW EMBOSSING POWDERS from the line called Candy Counter Collection.

After I embossed all the colors, I carefully cut each one out and pieced the Hot Air Balloon back together.

Because I am lucky enough to work with Momenta on their D-Lite team, I had some paper and products that matched my balloon perfectly.

The papers I used are from this 5 x 7 Cardstock Pad and stickers from their Kaleidoscope line.

Isn’t this just a bright and cherry card?

Companies supplies used:

Zany One of a Kind Cheery Lynn Designs Card

10 Feb
The reason I have called this a One of a Kind card is that if I tried to recreate it exactly like this, I couldn’t.
While at CHA this year, with Cheery Lynn Designs, we were across from a company that had all these fantastic ideas that I wanted to try!  So, sorry gals, you are my guinea pigs, so to speak.
I am trying my ideas out here!
I created this card from the die called Folding Fan.
Behind the fan I have pleated the paper that the fan sits on.  I was able to do this very easily using the
Easi Score from Diamond Card Craft.  It comes with an idea book and pleating the paper was one of the ideas in the book.
I have tried to take a picture in full sun to show off the pleats.
I am using Authentique Paper’s Splendid line.  I thought it was perfect for the overall feeling I was trying to create.
I used each fan piece as it’s own canvas and drew a different design on each panel.
On the inside I used lots of fun things, starting with the Embossing Plate I used on the blue paper called Black Eyed Susans. I love using paper with white core, it just looks so lovely when it is sanded.
I also used the Lace Edger and the Zig Zag Ric Rac dies. The small fan on the inside I made with a small Scalloped Circle.
I love the layers and dimension on this, I hope you have enjoyed this too.
I wanted to make sure you knew about our current challenge.
Our theme right now is Red & White.
You can read all the details HERE.
Every week there is a new winner and that winner gets a $20.00 gift cert. to Cheery Lynn Designs, so be sure to join in!

The Never Ending “Mary” Card

3 Feb
Hello there everyone…It is me Jeannie with today’s Cheery Lynn Designs post.
I am still recovering from going to CHA with Cheery Lynn Designs.  I had a blast and got to work with Cherry Lynn Designs owners, Mike and BJ Dywan, their graphic designer Viktor, and the delightful duo, Jan and Pam.
Cheery Lynn Designs was well received and I think the company had a wonderful show, it seems that everyone knows about Cheery Lynn Designs!  Hooray!
Today I am sharing a project that I have entitled the Never Ending Card.  Why? Well, I made it how the pattern said to, but I just kept adding things.
Here is the front of my card, can you see the border?  That is made from strips of the Cuties 3.
Inside the cut out square, I have the Sunflower and Ladybug showing through.
Here is a side view, the rest of the card is stored inside.
This was a very fun card to make.
The brad disguises a small piece of Velcro on the opening tab.
Here is the next level of the card.
This is so bright and colorful, I only embellished her hat and 3d’d everything else.  I used the Pretty Petal die to add dimensional flowers to her hat.
Here is the inside to the above card.
I made a pocket with another level to pull out.
Again you can see I used the Cuties 3 and the Pretty Petals to embellish the patterned papers.
This is the portion that you pull out and this houses the final part of the card.
It is a small tag that says Happy Birthday.
I have used the Fanciful Flourish, Pretty Petals and the Scalloped Squares for the tag.
Here are all the pieces..lots of pieces to make this a fun card.
All the graphics for this card are from a wonderful book I have by Mary Engelbreit.  When I ordered it, I had no idea it came with a CD that has all these graphics on it.  I will never run out now!  Hooray!
I hope you have enjoyed this, I was mainly trying to show that you can use the Cheery Lynn Designs dies to make something very cute, just a notch cuter!  I never tire of using these dies and it seems I am always finding new ways to use them
If you would like a chance to try them, why not check out the information on our challenge.  You can find all the details here.
I hope you have enjoyed today’s post, this has been Jeannie from The Polka Cabana, have a great weekend.
