Shopping Girl’s Dream

7 Sep
This is a little shadow box I got for $1.00 at Hobby Lobby in the clearance section because what ever was in the shadow box had been ripped off.
Knowing I would use it at some point, yep, I bought the silly thing.
I’m so lucky to have all my Cheery Lynn Designs Dies to work with. Here is what my $1.00 “purchase” turned out like.
Improvement, agree?
I took the Reflections Scalloped Circle Die, and used it as a 1/2 circle for the banners at the top.
I framed the sentiment on the bottom with Scalloped Rectangles.
All my papers are by Authentique Paper and the stamp set it called If the Shoe Fits, by Unity Stamp Co.
I think this turned out adorable and I hope you enjoyed my post today.  This has been Jeannie from The Polka Cabana posting for Cheery Lynn Designs.

Time for Halloween yet?

17 Aug
It’s hard to even think about Halloween time. Before you know it we will be making Christmas cards etc too.  In this last batch of New Release dies, there were a couple of dies for Halloween and I thought I’d pair them with some I already had and I came up with this fun card.
I embossed my card background with Leaves Embossing Plate.
The dies I am using from the new releases are CREEPY GATE and PUMPKIN SWAG.
The black cat and tree are a set called SCARE ME and the moon is made from the center of the SUNFLOWER die.
The cloud is a stamp that I stamped and cut out.
I think that the card turned out so cut and not too spooky! What do you think?
I am having a lot of fun with the new release of dies.
I hope to have time to play with the flowers this next week.
This has been Jeannie from The Polka Cabana posting today for Cheery Lynn Designs.

Princess Worthy

13 Jul
Following our theme on the Cheery Lynn Challenge Blog I have made this mostly SILVER card for you to see today.
The theme for this week on the challenge blog is
I took the ONE FREE WISH die and instead of leaving the moon shaped area opened, I backed it with lots of mixed pink printed papers.
The background papers are cut with the Scalloped Rectangle Stackers.
The very base silver rectangle is embossed with Black Eyed Susans.
I then took the Small Lace Butterfly and cut it in silver, cut it in half and placed it on the fairies existing wings to make the fairy extra fancy.
I using some embossing powder and a stamp to stamp the word to stamp the word PRINCESS and embellished the phrase with some Pretty Petals.
Overall, I think it is a different look from the silver and gold card you usually see, since this word work for a little girl.  I love the way it turned out.
I really like how the silver works with the black and pink.

New Dies From Cheery Lynn Designs **FAINT**

24 Feb
Today I am using the LACE OVAL REFLECTIONS die to make a unique banner.
To start out I cut a lot of ovals from the largest die in the LACE OVAL set.
I use the Sizzix Big Shot and I can still use the largest die, by folding my paper in half and cutting the shape.  I will have a fold line down the center, but for this project, that doesn’t matter.
Here you can my folded ovals, cut, still in half, and then I scored the ovals at 1/2″ increments.
Here are the same papers, opened up at their full size.
Can you believe how big those are and that I cut something that big from a Big Shot?
Once again, here the oval has just been cut, the paper in folded down the middle…
…voilà, here the same paper from above has been opened to it’s full size, it’s like magic!!
I am making 2 different shapes for my banner.  To make the flower shaped base, I need 3 of the largest ovals.
Here they are cut, and scored at 1/2″ increments.
Here the same ovals are, folded accordion style on the scored lines.
Fold the accordion folded ovals in half.
Hot glue the centers of each oval.
Then hot glue the 3 ovals together, they will look something like this.
Fan the outer edges open to meet each other on the other side and hot glue the remaining edges to form the flower shape.
The other banner shape I created is a butterfly shape.  For the butterfly you will need 2 ovals, folded, scored and glued in the same manner as the flower shapes.
Because we I only have 2 ovals, when I flair the ovals around to glue, the ovals create this butterfly shape instead of the flower shape.
To string all the shapes, I cut a paper towel tube up and glued them to the back of each shape.
After embellishing the fronts, I strung 2 layers of tulle through all the shapes to create the SPRING banner.
To embellish the fronts, I used the SWEDISH SPRING OVAL in the centers of each shape.
I had some large letters that I used to spell the word SPRING and then added lots of Cheery Lynn Designs flowers from The Floral Shop.
All the bright and Cheery paper is from Momenta.
Here you can see the letters more close up.
I just love all the colors and patterns!
Here is one last look!
I hope you have enjoyed this post today.
Hopefully you can see just how versatile the REFLECTIONS dies are.
You can just do anything with these dies, at least it seems like that to me!

Zany One of a Kind Cheery Lynn Designs Card

10 Feb
The reason I have called this a One of a Kind card is that if I tried to recreate it exactly like this, I couldn’t.
While at CHA this year, with Cheery Lynn Designs, we were across from a company that had all these fantastic ideas that I wanted to try!  So, sorry gals, you are my guinea pigs, so to speak.
I am trying my ideas out here!
I created this card from the die called Folding Fan.
Behind the fan I have pleated the paper that the fan sits on.  I was able to do this very easily using the
Easi Score from Diamond Card Craft.  It comes with an idea book and pleating the paper was one of the ideas in the book.
I have tried to take a picture in full sun to show off the pleats.
I am using Authentique Paper’s Splendid line.  I thought it was perfect for the overall feeling I was trying to create.
I used each fan piece as it’s own canvas and drew a different design on each panel.
On the inside I used lots of fun things, starting with the Embossing Plate I used on the blue paper called Black Eyed Susans. I love using paper with white core, it just looks so lovely when it is sanded.
I also used the Lace Edger and the Zig Zag Ric Rac dies. The small fan on the inside I made with a small Scalloped Circle.
I love the layers and dimension on this, I hope you have enjoyed this too.
I wanted to make sure you knew about our current challenge.
Our theme right now is Red & White.
You can read all the details HERE.
Every week there is a new winner and that winner gets a $20.00 gift cert. to Cheery Lynn Designs, so be sure to join in!

The Never Ending “Mary” Card

3 Feb
Hello there everyone…It is me Jeannie with today’s Cheery Lynn Designs post.
I am still recovering from going to CHA with Cheery Lynn Designs.  I had a blast and got to work with Cherry Lynn Designs owners, Mike and BJ Dywan, their graphic designer Viktor, and the delightful duo, Jan and Pam.
Cheery Lynn Designs was well received and I think the company had a wonderful show, it seems that everyone knows about Cheery Lynn Designs!  Hooray!
Today I am sharing a project that I have entitled the Never Ending Card.  Why? Well, I made it how the pattern said to, but I just kept adding things.
Here is the front of my card, can you see the border?  That is made from strips of the Cuties 3.
Inside the cut out square, I have the Sunflower and Ladybug showing through.
Here is a side view, the rest of the card is stored inside.
This was a very fun card to make.
The brad disguises a small piece of Velcro on the opening tab.
Here is the next level of the card.
This is so bright and colorful, I only embellished her hat and 3d’d everything else.  I used the Pretty Petal die to add dimensional flowers to her hat.
Here is the inside to the above card.
I made a pocket with another level to pull out.
Again you can see I used the Cuties 3 and the Pretty Petals to embellish the patterned papers.
This is the portion that you pull out and this houses the final part of the card.
It is a small tag that says Happy Birthday.
I have used the Fanciful Flourish, Pretty Petals and the Scalloped Squares for the tag.
Here are all the pieces..lots of pieces to make this a fun card.
All the graphics for this card are from a wonderful book I have by Mary Engelbreit.  When I ordered it, I had no idea it came with a CD that has all these graphics on it.  I will never run out now!  Hooray!
I hope you have enjoyed this, I was mainly trying to show that you can use the Cheery Lynn Designs dies to make something very cute, just a notch cuter!  I never tire of using these dies and it seems I am always finding new ways to use them
If you would like a chance to try them, why not check out the information on our challenge.  You can find all the details here.
I hope you have enjoyed today’s post, this has been Jeannie from The Polka Cabana, have a great weekend.

Cheery Lynn Designs Happy/Colorful card time

20 Jan
Let’s start with a disclaimer first!  I need a good Rainbow quote so I asked my top secret group of ladies from the Paper Issues team for help.  I got some GOOD ONES too!
Well my virtual buddy, Michelle, gave the quote I used…and I asked if she came up with it…but she went off line and I had to make an executive decision on using the quote!
I GOOGLED it and came up with nothing EXACTLY the same…so I gave credit to Michelle, sort of an inside joke, but a compliment to her at the same time…End of story!
On to my project!
My card today is my effort to use the rest of the dies I didn’t get a chance to use on my NEW RELEASE post.
I am using the new dies Country Girl, French Lattice Small and Cuties #4.
I have the Lattice cut in white on top of a white piece of paper that I have used the Pierce Plate on.
How do you like those flowers?  They are a very TOP SECRET design I came up with myself and maybe is enough people say..”OOOH, HOW DID YOU DO THAT?”  I might do a tutorial on them sometime soon!
There is something so striking and satisfying to me about bright colors on a white background.
There are so many different ways to do this and I never tire of trying new ways.
I am having a blast with all the new dies.  I love making my own custom flowers and these new Cuties #4 are fabulous to work with.

New Releases from Cheery Lynn Designs

15 Jan

It is that time again…New Releases time from Cheery Lynn Designs.

You can see all the new designs at the online store here.

For this first card, I have used the new die called French Lattice Small.  I also used the French Lattice to emboss by using an Embossing Pad.  Other ides I used are,  Judy’s Bloom and Heart’s D’Vine.

The white background is the paper I embossed with the French Lattice Small,

How do you like those gold tone buttons?  Those are REAL VINTAGE, meaning, they were from some buttons I have that were my Grandma’s.

For my next card I used the new die called Queen Anne’s Lace Border.

I also used the small heart from the inside of the HEARTLAND AMERICA die.

To add a special touch, I took the Queen Anne’s Lace and lined the envelope flap with it also.

For this last card I used the new die called Swedish Spring Oval.

Don’t you love that little bicycle?  It is our Little Pink Bicycle die.

Such a cute card for a thank-you or friendship card.

I have another card already planned and I will be back to share that this coming Friday!

The new dies are just wonderful.  Just when you think you’ve seen it all, Cheery Lynn Designs goes and WOWs us AGAIN!

Pop Up Halloween Fun with Cheery Lynn Designs

14 Oct
Not wanting to sound like a broken record, I will not tell you how excited I am about my post today!
Maybe this has been done before and if so, that’s ok…but this card design I did not do any GOOGLE searches to help me at all!  It is 100% me and my crazy mind.
It is my pop out Pumpkin Card/Decoration.
I have seen a lot of people doing he 3-d pumpkins from normal circles and then using them as decorations. I did not just want to do what everyone else is doing.
What I did here was to 1st, not use circles but a Scalloped Oval.
I really wanted it to look like a honeycomb pumpkin and asked my 15yo son how he thought I could do it.  He said I couldn’t!  But I proved him wrong!!
With a little creative sewing and hot glue, I did it.
Another secret?  My bats!  All I did was to use the Hearts die, fold  a heart in half and then cut the top off the heart.  When you open the paper up, you have yourself a bat.
I had so much fun making this and think I might get a frame and just turn it into a Halloween decor item!
This has been Jeannie with The Polka Cabana with today’s post!
