Tussie Mussie Even Cassie would be proud of!

16 Dec
Today I am sharing with you this adorable hanging cone, aka a Tussie Mussie.
You might ask, who is Cassie and what is a Tussie Mussie?
I looked up Tussie Mussie and found out that at some point they were to hold wedding bouquets without getting your hands wet.  Who would’ve known?
As for Cassie, head on over to Paper Issues or Something From Cassie to learn about this FABULOUS lady.
On to my project.
The first thing I did was to use the Wittle Wickers and Wittle Weavers to create my woven cone.
I am using all papers from the Authentique Paper Wonder collection.
The picture on the left it the start of the weaving, the center is the cone all done and the right picture is the start of embellishing before I started to assemble the cone.
Here are some pictures of my final product.  I had such a fun time trying to photograph this, NOT!!
The tag that is close to the handle is actually an ornament that can be taken off and hung on the Christmas Tree.  The picture on the right is where you can see how gorgeous the woven pattern looks.
I moved indoors trying to get better pictures and got this close up of the Tussie Mussie .
Here again is that fabulous weave pattern. You can also see how I took the Ribbon Eyelet Border and wove ribbon through the holes.  I then sewed this to a piece of canvas to make it strong.
I also edged the cone with the Anastasia Border.
The dies I used for the flowers are Judy’s Blooms and the Sunflower.
On the tip of the cone, I took the Celtic Fire Doily and wrapped it around and secured it with my sewing machine.
Here is a close up where you can see the ornament.  I made this from a free printable Mary Engelbreit had on her blog a week or so ago.  I enlarged it and printed it on shrink film.  I attached it so some cut out
 Sunflowers to complete the look.
One last look, what do you think?
Usually when I am creating for a post, I am pretty stressed and sometimes my 7yo son likes to pitch right in and create exactly what I am creating alongside(which adds to my stress level, believe me!).
He has used Cheery Lynn Designs dies too.  He has a strip from Wittle Wickers for his handle, edged it with the Grass Border and has Darling Daisy on the other side.
He even has to photograph his projects the same way I do.
This is the mess WE made(mostly me!)
But look, all my Cheery Lynn Designs dies are neatly put away!
I hope you have enjoyed this post from me and my son.
This has been Jeannie with The Polka Cabana with today’s post.
Don’t forget that we have a challenge going.
It is your opportunity to win a Cheery Lynn Designs gift certificate and get yourself some of our fabulous dies.
The theme is FLOWERS.

New Sweet Stamps Card and Challenge

6 Dec

It is Tuesday and it is that time of the week when Sweet Stamps has issued a new challenge.

This week we are challenging you to do a Christmas Bling Card.

Here is what I came up with.

Bear with me.  This was extremely hard to photograph.

If I was able to capture the sparkle and bling, the background was washed out or the wrong green.  If I got the green to be right, you could not see any of the shimmer and sparkle.

I tried outside, inside, in the shade in the light, in the sunlight and nothing worked.  This is the best I could get and I am still not happy with the final outcome.

On the positive side, I have to say, the Holiday Sweets Set is just about the most fantastically fun set ever.  I love how all the candies look stamped.

I could use this set forever and never get tired of it.

Other items used:

Flower Tree

Authentique Paper – Wonder

If you like the sound of our new challenge and would like to enter to have a chance at winning a $20.00 gift certificate to Sweet Stamps.com, head on over to the Sweet Stamps blog.

Have a terrific day!

Thanks for your visit and if you have time to leave a comment, I love reading every single one.  Your comments make my day.

Sweet Stamps Gate Fold Card

29 Nov

It is Tuesday and it is that time of the week when Sweet Stamps has issued a new challenge.

This week we are challenging you to do a Gate Fold card.

I found this adorable pattern here.

I used the basic design, but added to it.

Here is the card tied up.

This card is actually sized and made to hold a gift card. Here you can see I have untied the bow.

The Sweet Stamps supplies I used are Holiday Sweets Set and Christmas Joy. This is the inside of the card.

I have to tell you, the Holiday Sweets Set is just about the most fantastically fun set ever.  I love how all the candies look stamped.

The image below shows where the gift card enclosure is.

Here is the card with the card portion removed.

If you like this fun looking card and would like to enter the challenge to have a chance at winning a $20.00 gift certificate to Sweet Stamps.com, head on over to the Sweet Stamps blog.

Have a terrific day!

Here are my tags.

For the Cheery tag, I used Cherries, Stickles Christmas Red, Holiday Sweet Sets, Black Pearl Pen, Pearlescent Watercolor Paints and the leaf from the Rosebuds & Leaves set.

For the snowman tag I used Mrs. Snowman, Star Ornament Die, Christmas Joy paper, Holiday Sweet SetsPearlescent Watercolor Paints, Stardust Pen and Clear Embossing Powder.

I hope you have enjoyed my post today!

If you like these tags and would like to enter the challenge and have a chance at winning a $20.00 gift certificate to Sweet Stamps.com, head on over to the Sweet Stamps blog.

**DISCLAIMER**

Large RED clothes pin is only securing the tag for the photo.  It is not meant for anything else:)  It’s late, this is my 3rd round of pics and I do not feel like a Round 4 of pictures tonight.

Have a terrific day!  Thanks for your visit and if you have time to leave a comment, I love reading every single one.  Your comments make my day.

Thank you to Canvas Corp for the adorable tags for today’s post.

Trio of Christmas Cards with Authentique Paper – Wonder

12 Sep
Do you know how many more Christmas card making days you have left?
I estimate about 96 days, taking into account getting your cards in the mail a week before Christmas.
I have come up with 3 cards today that would be very simple to mass produce.
These are called Easel Cards.
Here is Card 1

All the patterned paper is from WONDER with the exception of my music paper, which is just from an old piano book I use for crafting.

These are such a nice card, and would be lovely to give away to the extra special people you want to give cards to this Christmas.

All 3 cards today have all the same “recipe”.

They are all 4.25″ by 5.5″, they all have a paper gathered ruffle,
(Card 2)

polka dot ribbon, embellishments using Excerpts and Icons,

words from Diction,

a custom pieced die cut with Authentique Paper,

and paper flowers and hearts made with Wonder paper.
(Card 3)

For the inside base of the card I stamped the holly stamp lightly from the Wonder of It stamp set.

The beauty of these cards are there are so many different ways to fold them when creating your easel.

I have done 1 of each, right triangle, left triangle and middle folded easels.

These did not take very long to make and if I had had everything pre-cut, I really could get a lot of these done in a short amount of time.

They look fabulous on display and can you imagine what a treat it would be to get one of these in the mail?

I hope you have enjoyed my cards today. The Wonder paper and all the things that coordinate with it are such gorgeous papers to play with. This has been Jeannie from The Polka Cabana with today’s post. Have a great week.

A very PRETTY Sweet Stamps Christmas Card

26 Jul

Wow it is 2am California time and I am just getting this posted!  Even worse?  I have to get up in 2 1/2 hours and go to work:(

We are still doing our Christmas in July theme on the Sweet Stamps.com blog.

This week’s challenge is a sketch challenge.  Here is the sketch.

Remember how I like to be difficult and do things like ROTATE the sketch?  Here is how I did my card, by rotating the sketch this way:

I used 2 different Sweet Stamps:

ORNAMENTS SILHOUETTE AND OUTLINE

HAPPY HOLIDAYS OLD FASHIONED

I also used some paper from my new favorite line, Authentique Paper.

Forgive the lighting on this, remember it is 2am!  The ornaments really are the right hue, even though they look navy blue in this picture!

This particular paper is called:

BRILLIANCE

Here is another shot with different coloring…I will most likely redo these pictures outside tomorrow and replace these pictures.

Notice how I put wire on my ornaments?  I love the way it looks!

I also made those cute flowers by using the shabby rolled technique with paper.  I was soo excited with the way they turned out!

Be sure to head on over to the Sweet Stamps.com blog and see what our other fabulous designers have come up with.

Join our sketch challenge and win your self a Gift Certificate to Sweet Stamps.com!

$20.00 certificate is up for grabs to one random and lucky person!

Good Luck and thanks so much for stopping by!

I’m so Blue today

18 Jul

Ok, well I am not really sad, but maybe I got your attention?

On the Sweet Stamps.com Blog our new challenge starts today and the theme is Winter Blues.

Now, Christmas falls in Winter so I have made a Christmas card in blue shades.

Thanks to the ultra fantabulous, oh so yummy new paper line AUTHENTIQUE PAPER, my card is not only blue, the blues all match perfectly since they are all from the new line called : JOURNEY

For today’s card I have used the stamp called:

STAINED GLASS NATIVITY

Ooooh, I just love the way this turned out!

At the last-minute, I realized that I did not just want to put a Merry Christmas Stamp on here..

Thank goodness for my Petite Types, they have come to my rescue quite a bit lately.

I use them for everything!

As you can see I created my own sentiment with the Petite Types:

 “A Child is Born”

I hope you have enjoyed my paper pieced Christmas Blue card.

As usual, if you head over to the Sweet Stamps.com blog, you can see the rest of the design teams cards.

You will find the link to enter this week’s challenge and remember that if you enter, you have the chance to win a $20.00 gift certificate to the Sweet Stamps.com store.

Be sure to stop on over to the blog and leave some blog love.

I am off to create something else!

Have a great day and thanks for stopping by.

Sweet Stamps Christmas in July

12 Jul

Well, if you are visiting me from Sweet Stamps.com, you might wonder why my card has so much color?

Well it is about 3:30am PST and I just got done with my card.  After I had edited my pictures I decided to make sure that I had the right theme, CHRISTMAS.  Imagine my surprise and dismay when I saw the theme was in fact Christmas but, SILVER & GOLD.

So, my snow and star glistening are going to count as my Silver & Gold for this week.

I always try to think of ways to use stamps in a somewhat untraditional way.

So I combined a few stamps to come up with this card.

The tree is such a cute stamp called:  LACE TREE.

I paper pieced the tree in 2 different colored greens and made the cherries from my Cricut.

I combined 2 different phrases for my sentiment:

MERRY CHRISTMAS & A CHEERY HELLO.

I added lots of trinkets and embellishments, I just can’t seem to help it!

So there you have my non traditional Christmas card with a touch of Silver and Gold to qualify for this weeks card.

I invite you to head on over to the Sweet Stamps.com blog and see the other cards our Design Team has made.

Join our challenge and win a $20 gift certificate to Sweet Stamps.com.  Trust me, you will love their stamps.

Thanks for stopping by, I am going to bed now!

A lost tradition, found.

14 Dec

Before my mom passed away, she used to buy all my kids a Christmas ornament for the current year. As my number of children got higher in numbers, she still carried this tradition on. For awhile, she handmade each one, customizing them to the grandchild’s current likes in life. I have acorn angels, popsicle stick Santa’s, Pooh Bears, Blues Clues and Baby’s 1st Christmas ornaments for almost all my kids. She also added to my ornament stash every year. While she was alive, I got a new ornament from the earliest time I can remember, she did this for me.

As I was thinking of what to make this week, the thought hit me that my youngest 2 children will not have the privilege of receiving that special ornament from Curly Grandma each year.  So, I need to start, or restart, this tradition for them. When they are older, I will be sure to tell them where this tradition started, when it ended and when it started again.

I only had time to make 2 ornaments to show, but I will be making more for the rest of my children.

Believe it or not, I only used 1 die set. The set I used was: Scalloped Oval – LST103

I took an idea from one of those fancy magazines, no one can afford to buy from.  They had these lovely paper ornaments.  So, I used their idea for my own.  The main body, of the ornaments are made out of vintage piano books that I had lying around.  They had already started to yellow, so I did not need to do much distressing 🙂

Here is the ornament I made for my youngest, my princess, my joy…yep, I LOVE HER~

This next one, I had to make just because I wanted to see if I could.  If one of my older daughters loves it as much as I do, she can have it be her 2010 ornament.  If not, it is MINE!!!
Again, I only used the Scalloped Oval dies on this.  Made all from the same vintage sheet music and embellished with supplies I had on hand.

These were somewhat time consuming, but well worth it.  Part therapy, part mom love.  I think I will enjoy doing this for my kids every year.

Thank you for stopping by, I hope you enjoyed my Christmas Pretties.

Be sure to go over to The Cheery Lynn blog to see my other team mates creations.

We all work so hard to make things for you, I know you will enjoy what they have to share also.
