Bon Voyage – Farewell Card
22 AugGel a Tins with Authentique Paper
23 FebI had such a fun time with this card. I blew the dust off the ole Cricut and used the Create a Critter cartridge.
I am using all Authentique Papers from the 2 lines called:
I am using the Gel a tins stamps called:
First, I embossed the stamp onto a piece of paper in black.
I adhered it to my card front as shown below.
Next I embossed the Love Knots stamp onto the tree branch and phrase in white.
Then comes the fun part…putting the card together.
A close up of the darling owl! Isn’t it adorable??
To keep the card closed, I used a homemade repositionable glue dot under the bottom of the owl.
It lies nice and flat and opens nice an easily:)
I hope you like this as much as I do…

How to make NEW, altered!
15 Nov
Last month was my birthday. I got a lovely gift from my Visiting Teacher…that MIGHT have been my only gift that day? I can’t remember. (Not talking about all my CYBER wishes!!) Hey my birthday is still going…I just got ANOTHER FAB gift from a dear friend (who also does my hair..) She gave me the best combo of hair stuff!..So by no means, am I complaining…anyhow..before I get myself in trouble…let me just say, part of my gift from my VT was some really cute little candles.
I could have left them alone…but I added some wow, and now I want them out in the open all the time!!
I did these for a challenge posted on http://dixiepieces.com/.
Here is my 1st BEFORE candle:
Here are my AFTER alteration process.
Here is my 2nd candle BEFORE:
Here is the AFTER alteration!
You will have to forgive me for so many pictures of the last candle. I used a lot of sentimental stuff on it. The beaded cherries were a bracelet that my oldest son made. There was some irregularity in it and he did not want it, so he made me another one. I told him NOOOO, don’t throw it away…and now it is part of my candle holder. The other sentimental item is the dangling heart charm. That was a little necklace that my 6-year-old made in ITCHY ribbon that I could not bear to wear, so now it is part of my necklace. So, what do you think? What do you have lying around that you could alter? Christmas is coming, what can you re purpose, redo and give to some one to re-love? Think about it!
This will be my Favorite post EVER!!!! Be sure to read!

I have had an idea brewing for a while now and today I am putting my plan into ACTION. There are so many crafty people in this world. So many different styles and personalities. I get inspiration from many sources and today I am going to start a monthly spotlight of my TOP 10 people who inspire me. To go along with my Spotlight, I will have a unique giveaway catered to the STYLE of the person I am spotlighting. Some of my Favorite People, will actively participate, I will let all of them know. So today, let me introduce you to one of my favorite, most creative, spunky, fun and amazing people.
Her name is Deena Ziegler.
I happened upon Deena’s website, a while back and was instantly drawn to her style. I think my style is very much like hers, since we seem to use a lot of the same colors, etc in our projects. However, I am no match for Deena. Google her name and you can see how busy this lady is. A couple of my favorite links on Deena:

- http://www.mycreativeclassroom.com/course/category.php?id=36 (A class she teaches on the SIZZIX machine)
- http://www.google.com/images?q=deena+ziegler&hl=en&rlz=1C1GGGE_enUS380US380&prmd=ivo&um=1&ie=UTF-8&source=og&sa=N&tab=wi&biw=1920&bih=1085 (Googling her name, you can see so many FABUOLOUS projects!!)
On her blog she often features her children and I love that she is really modest and down to earth. She is sweet and caring and is a real person. She has this to say about what she does:
“First, I’m a mom to two girls that are growing up quicker than I’d like. They keep me busy with school activities and horseback riding. They both love to craft and join me in my work room every day. They especially like to use up all my adhesive and smash my marker tips. When my second daughter was a toddler and I was in full stay at home mom mode I accepted an invitation to teach at my local scrapbook store where I still teach to this day.
Soon I had started teaching a class called Creative Cards. Attendance was up and down but I kept at it for the last seven years and now have two sold out classes every month. I appreciate each and every one of my customers and I cherish the personal relationships that I have with them. While I don’t see an end in sight for my in person teaching I was ready to take Creative Cards to a new level. I now offer my kits to anyone out of my teaching area or for those that just can’t make it to class and Creative Cards Homeschool was launched.”
You can read her full ABOUT ME BIO, here: http://deenaziegler.typepad.com/my_weblog/about.html
Having mentioned Creative Cards Homeschool, I can not give this enough praise. I have been a participant for quite a while now. I do not feel that I need to have guidance for making cards. I can easily come up with my own designs. But, what I love about Deena’s Creative Cards Homeschool are:
- The assortment of DIES that she uses
- Her color combinations
- Her vast assortment of Ribbons and Buttons
- Her Whimsical Phrases
- Her hard work to precut and package everything
- The CONVENIENCE of having everything in one package
I am not in a position to own or have access to all that Deena has, so it is kind of like she is SHARING not only her talent, but her STASH with us! What I usually do and am going to show you today, is how you can either use her card kit and follow her pattern and guidelines, OR do what I do, use the supplies and make your own MAGIC! I love the challenge of taking all the things that has been designated for one card and trying to make the card completely my own. I usually have success, sometimes it can be hard, but most times it works. Take a tour of OCTOBER’S CREATIVE CARDS HOMESCHOOL KIT:

7 OctThe Design Team over at THE LOLLIPOP PRESS, are all busy making projects with the wonderful Digital Designs in the STORE. I am a HYBRID designer. Which means, I focus more on TRADITIONAL scrapbooking (paper, adhesive, scissors, etc.) but that I use the Digital Elements and Pages in my Scrapbooking. It is a wonderful combination. I will never be able to give up the look and feel of Traditional Scrapbooking, so I am learning to use the Digital Elements to my advantage.
Here are some examples of HYBRID Scrapbooking. Layouts and pictures were created using; THE LOLLIPOP PRESS, SHADED CHIC line.
For those of you who do not know what “HYBRID” is. Here is an example. Please know, I am only a NOVICE at this and the results possible by professionals, are unbelievable. Even with my small know how here is what I did.
Here is my BEFORE picture.
Just a lovely plain picture.
Here, I have added just a couple of digital elements, to create a unique picture.
Here again, we have a cute little picture…
Here is the same picture with just a little bit of “MAGIC.”
Once again, here is a BEFORE, picture…
and, just a bit of “WOW.”
Now, you can see how I have used the DIGITAL ELEMENTS to create my actual HANDS ON Scrapbook pages. These are not DIGITAL PAGES, they are TRADITIONAL PAGES, that I will put in a scrapbook.
Here they are together, it was hard to get a good picture side by side, sorry.
So there you have it, a mini HYBRID taste.
Please, watch the SMILEBOX to see more detail of what went into making the pictures and pages.
All of the elements I have used can be purchased HERE at this link, so head on over to THE LOLLIPOP PRESS and see the other Digital Kits that are available in addition to this.
Have a great day!

New Cards for PAPER FACES DESIGN TEAM
10 SepSo, I am a little behind creating for my dear pal THERESE, but I have made a SMILEBOX for her and you showcasing my latest cards using some of her DIGI STAMPS. Oh, to be able to DRAW like her. I started out not really like DIGI STAMPS, but I think I am getting used to them. But, they will never be my favorite like Therese’s CUT FILES are!!
Next week I will make a SMILE BOX showcasing everything I have up in my ETSY store. My current plan is that when I make a project and I am allowed to showcase it, it will be shown here and then go in my ETSY store. So if there is something you see and really like, well then, you can make it yours!
But, that is next week. For now, I am off to attend a much-needed GIRLS WEEKEND with my BEEEYOUUUUUUTIIIIFUL mom-in-law and sisters in law. A couple of days filled with SPIRITUAL uplift and fun at TIME OUT FOR WOMEN!! Hooray, I went last year and can’t wait for this one that starts TONIGHT!!
So, bye for now and enjoy the SMILEBOX!!

A gift from a friend.
9 SepWhile my little one was in the hospital, I tried to send messages to keep in touch, when the hospital computer was behaving. My design team leader, Therese Travis, was one I need to let know what was going on, because, I had assignments due and was missing the deadlines. I let her know where I was and I told her that my little one needed and ANGEL to watch over her, thinking Therese would know I was asking her to pray for us. The next day in my INBOX was an email with an attachment from Therese. It was an ANGEL/FAIRY of my little one. We will call it the Boo Angel Fairy.
Therese, a wonderful artist, has the wonderful knowledge of how to take a drawing of hers and turn it into a file that the computer can understand, and then I can cut the pattern on my CRICUT. So below, I am showing off the Boo Angel Fairy on the cards I made for the wonderful, doctors, friends and family that helped us out through our scary time.
Here she is!!
Different lighting.
Oooh, different angle!
A close up of the Boo Angel Fairy.
All 10 cards that I made, whew! A lot of love and work went into these!
Thank you Therese, from the bottom of my heart!
