Authentique Paper Guest Post + Giveaway

13 Jun

I am so excited that I was invited to have the opportunity to do a guest spot for Authentique Paper.

I am mostly using papers from the line called CAREFREE.

I came across this thing at my local thrift store.

I have no idea what it was originally for, but I have needed a cute napkin holder for my kitchen table for a long time.

I used lots of different prints from my 6 x 6 Carefree bundle.

I love Authentique’s different alphabet stickers and have quite a few from their different lines.

I used those alphas to spell out gently manner reminders that I am always needing to remind my kids of.

I applied all the papers with Modge Podge so this would last a long time.

I also mixed in some old sheet music to add some different colors to the project.  The blue paper is from Authentique Paper’s Genuine Line.

I sometimes create things for posts I have no need for, but this is one thing I will use everyday!

Red is my favorite color and goes perfect in my home.

I hope you like this as much as I do.

Next, using the same Carefree Line, I made a small plaque that could be used as a gift for a new mom.

Wouldn’t this be perfect sitting on a shelf or hanging on a wall in a baby’s room?

Using Authentique Paper’s different alphabet stickers, you can customize something like this any way you’d like.

I just love the floral print on the purse!  I would love to have some FABRIC in that print!  AHHHHHH!

I hope you have enjoyed my small visit back with my lovely friends at  Authentique Paper.

Do you know anyone with a baby named MAE?  Do you just love this plaque and want to change the name yourself??

Leave a comment, I could be persuaded to send this to you.  Leave a comment here and on Authentique Paper’s BLOG,

letting me know which of the Authentique Paper lines in your favorite and I will choose a random winner next Wednesday to send this plaque to!

TO QUALIFY YOU MUST HAVE LEFT A COMMENT ON MY BLOG  & AUTHENTIQUE PAPER’s BLOG.

I have said it before and will say it again, it is NEVER a chore to work with their product and is always such a pleasure to make things with their products!

Hope you have a great Wednesday!

This has been YOU KNOW WHO…tempting you with some CAREFREE fun from Authentique Paper!

Easter Fun Stuff

23 Mar
It is amazing to think it is almost Easter time.
We are in our Spring season and nothing is more fun than making Easter/Spring decorations.
Today I am showing you a very easy idea I cam up with based on this cute sticker I found online.
This is a sticker meant for a scrapbook page, I just thought it was adorable.  I thought it would also make a very cute decoration, but this is a sticker, soo..this is what I came up with.
I used the largest egg in the Nesting Eggs set to cut out the egg base. The bunny in the basket are the Spring Basket 1.
After cutting the large eggs I embossed them with the Black Eyes Susans embossing plate and then sanded the paper to reveal the gorgeous design.
To make my eggs and chicks, I used a combination of Little Stacker Ovals and the Nesting Eggs. The wings for the chick are petals from the Frangipani die.
To cut the eggs and leave the shell looking like they do, I used the Zig Zag Ric Rac border.
I adhered these to some rectangle blocks of wood, so they are nice and sturdy and will stand up just fine on a counter or mantel.
Sometimes ideas for things can be found in unusual places.
Looking at my project, it is hard to believe it is based on a sticker I saw..right??
This also reminds me to tell you about our current challenge.
The theme is EASTER.
Be sure and check out all the details for the challenge HERE.
Thanks for stopping by, this has been Jeannie with The Polka Cabana with today’s post.

Holiday gift and Decor with Authentique Paper

28 Nov
I have a fun and easy idea to pass on to you today.
I am using some paper from the Wonder 6 x 6 bundle and a plain glass frame.
To start off I cut a frame from a full size piece of Wonder’s, off-white foundation paper.
The frame measures 5″ x 7″.
You can see all the shapes that have been cut out on the left.
I took each paper and put the right side of my cut out to the wrong side of the patterned paper I was using. This is so I do not get pencil marks left over from tracing.
You can see here that I was careful to number and match each patterned paper piece to the pattern piece I was using.
All the pieces are cut out, it is time to get ready for assembly.
Using a paint dabber, I edged all my cut outs and also the frame.
I also took the frame base and edged that with the paint as well.
I covered the frame back with a neutral piece of cardstock to cover the frame clamp holes.
Next I adhered the frame.
I knew I wanted to have the cut outs be slightly raised, so I put dimensional foam down first.
Here is the first stage of the frame done.
Next, I took some vinyl and cut-out the word JOY.  I used a setting on my cutter that cuts through the vinyl, but not the vinyl backing.  Here you see that I have already cut and removed the excess vinyl and only the word JOY is on the backing.
This might be redundant for those who work with vinyl, but after I did the previous step, I took some mounting film and lifted the word off the vinyl backing.
What you see here is the vinyl attached to the mounting film. the sticky side of the film is on the back of the letters.  The mounting film will release the vinyl, once I attach the vinyl to the frame.
Here I have attached the word to the glass and I am peeling off my mounting film.
Step 2 , you can see below is all done.
Step 3 is optional.  What I did was to embellish the from of the glass further.
I added fibers, lace and beads to bring it all together.
It really is a beautiful piece and fairly easy and quick to make.
You could use this idea for any season or for any occasion based on what paper you use.
I hope you have enjoyed this tutorial and that you can use this idea for the upcoming holiday season.
This has been Jeannie from The Polka Cabana with today’s post.

Wonder full sized Foundations
Wonder 6 x 6 Bundle

Here is what I did with Canvas Corp and myStamp BOX’s products.

My  kids have this table that they play on.  It was starting to get pretty battered.

They love to play restaurant, so I made a little “Diner” for them.

I painted the table all black and using a combination of Canvas Corp paper and my Stamp Box stamps, I made this updated play table for them.

It has a tic tac toe board in the middle and I had my children help decorate it by drawing pictures on the table.

I also made this banner that says “DINER”.  That fabulous black and white background on the hearts is black Canvas Corp paper, embossed in white ink with the Repeat After Me stamp set.

I could have used the hearts plain, they were so cute with the stamped images alone.

I used the stamp set called Royal Flush for all my lettering on the table and other items.

I took this picture at night, sorry for the poor image, but I wanted to show that I also included misc things on the table.  Such as words starting with the letters A, B & C.  I also wrote down some of my kid’s currents favorite foods.  My 7 yo INSISTED on having Ding Dong’s on his list! (YIKES)

All in all, I loved working with Canvas Corp and my Stamp Box.  My favorite about this project is the “Menu.”

I made the “Menu” with Canvas Corp‘s Chalkstock so my kids can erase over and over again when they are playing.

This was such a labor of love and I really had fun doing this for you all to see.

Now it’s time to HOP along and find out what the next talented designer has created.

Ok, now I am going to get to my real post.  The other stuff was just VIP info I wanted to pass on to you!

As the May Tally Design Star, my guest blog post in going to be a small peak in to my crafting space and a short

TRASH TO TREASURE project.

Here we have a before pic of the main part of my craft room, my craft table.

I know, WHAT A MESS!!

I was driving myself crazy with the current set up.

(hmmm, I wonder why?)

I tried to have EVERYTHING within arms reach and it was all turning into one gigantic pile of MESS.

I decided to take a shot of the whole messy table, as I was starting my organization brain child project. You can see the beginnings of my paper piecings in the lower mid section of my table.

I started with 2 empty plastic shoe boxes, available just about anywhere.  I have about 300 or so of these lying around, at least it feels like it!

Nothing fancy, just plastic. Toss the lids!

I used some leftover wall paper borders I had, border stickers, decorative print papers, washi tape, laminator and strong adhesive.

All the products are attached to the outside.  I made each side one at a time and laminated the pieces before adhering them to the plastic boxes.

Here are the final products.

A view of the other side:

Here we have them all put back together, with my fabulous organizing skills. *insert snickering here**

Hey, I have my scissors in one area, sticky stuff in one area and other related stuff I try to group together.

They look pretty on my table.  They are one of a kind.

They match my decor and they make me happy.

The cost?  NOTHING!  I had everything already to just put it these all together.

See how they match my table?

Confession, yes, I decorated the table too!

There you have it, a peek into a small part of my crafting space.

You’d have thought I would have taken a picture of the whole area all tidied up?

No such luck!

I forgot and you would not want to see it now!  Some other day I will finish the rest of this story.

Maybe I will even tell you the story about my TABLE makeover…oooh, doesn’t that sound like a Best Seller?

My unofficial challenge is to look around you.  What do you have the supplies already for?  What can you make without going out and buying a thing?  If you create something be sure to send me some TALLY MAIL and give me a link to go and see!  I have something up my sleeves, I just need to find the time to deliver…

Maybe I will surprise you this week!

Well that is enough rambling from me!  Go out and have a great weekend!

Bye for now and thanks so much again for my Tally Star month of May!  See you in the galleries!
