So, what do you think?  Are you interested in coming?  What about a Kit?

You can order a Kit for $20.00.  If you don’t live by me you just pay for the kit plus shipping, it’s that easy!!

I have based the layouts of course on the lovely Mary Engelbreit.  But I also love the art of  Lauren Child.  I love how she mixes pictures of  real objects with her drawings and art.

That’s what I have done with these layouts.  Some of the items are actual pictures mixed with die cuts and other things.  I just love how everything turned out and I hope you like these layouts too.

If you want to sign up for the class to take from me at Ben Franklin,

Call: (530) 273-1348.

Let them know you want to sign up for a class and they will direct you to the right department.

If you want to order a kit, send me a message at:

jmdegruc@yahoo.com.

I will need a mailing address to quote your shipping.

That’s it for today!

Thanks for stopping by.

The cards you see here are my samples and what is so awesome about them is each one has a handwritten sentiment on it.  For my class the sentiments were computer generated, but they turned out just as cute.  It seems I have a lot of bosses at my job, but my direct boss, is the MOST AMAZING ARTIST,….well, outside of Mary….Linsdsay about takes the cake!  Go take a look at her blog to see what I’m talking about.  Her name is Lindsay Ostrom.  She is the one who has handwritten all my sentiments, how lucky am I???

Also this month….Clear Scraps has revealed their new Kit…and let me tell you…WOW is it a good one!

You can be part of our little Kit Club family by going to our Facebook page and liking it.  Creating Made Easy Kit Club Facebook Page. Let them know Jeannie from The Polka Cabana sent you over!

That way you can keep up with our kit reveals and what we are up to.

Joy’s Life meets Mary Engelbreit

29 Aug
Hello everyone, Jeannie from The Polka Cabana here today with a fun gift card/tag/letter etc. idea.  I hope that some of you from Close Friends on Facebook are here to visit and get an idea of what you can also do with things you might have lying around your house.  I am on a design team for a fun site called Joy’s Life.com.
All of us on the Joy’s Life DT are working with these Swatch Tag. Swatch tags are used for lots of crafters to keep track of paper and pen color samples etc.
Here is my completed project.

Here is a side view, these tags could be used as anything.

I have gathered all of mine together as a card/letter
.

I had a lot to say, so each tag is numbered on the back to keep them in order.

I used quite a few stamp sets and had fun mixing and matching the phrases to get the exact words I needed.  That is the best thing about these stamps for me.  First there are so many phrases and then if you get creative, you can make up your own by mixing, matching and splicing!

All of my images are taken from a Mary Engelbreit desk calendar.

All of my fun papers are from Canvas Corp.

A big thank you to May Arts for my wonderful ribbon.

The buttons?  Are from PaperTrey Ink.

Isn’t it great how I was able to get some sort of sentiment for each tag I made?

I am so happy to have these Joy’s Life stamps, it makes projects like this so much more fun to put together.

Here is a final peek at all of them together.
I hope you have liked my project for the day.
This has been Jeannie posting for Joy’s Life.com.
A special thank you to any and all of you who have stopped by from Close Friends!

A card with a TREAT inside

10 Aug
Hi everyone, I’m here with my post for Joy’s Life.com.
All of us on the design team have all been focusing on how to use the different craft containers that you can find on the Product page on Joy’s Life.com.
So today I am using one of the mixed sized tubes and also some of the sentiments from Sweet Popsicle Puns.
Here is the front of the card.

A close up of the sentiment on the card front.

From the side you can see the tube filled with candy..

When you open the card you can see the surprise inside.

Doesn’t that make and extra special card?

I love using the stamps here and there.

Here is one last look at the card, the cute little girl is from one of my Mary Engelbreit calendar pages.

All of my papers are from Canvas Corp, ahhh how I love Canvas Corp papers!!!
That is my card for today!  I hope you enjoyed it.

Christmas Time, in July?

6 Jul
It really is hard to believe we are half way through this year already.
But is you are one of those that really likes to plan ahead, we are tempting you this week over at the Cheery Lynn Challenge Blog with a Christmas July theme.
My creation today goes along with that theme.
I know I have mentioned before how I  love to use my Mary Engelbreit calendars as pieces for focal points of my cards.
What I wanted to do with this card was to somewhat mimic the scene that was going on in the Mary Engelbreit image.
You can see here the Window C, peeking from the back of the card image..
When you open up this tri-fold card you will see the small, simple scene inside the Window. I made the snow with Scalloped Circles, the stars are from the Patriotic Swag, the trees are upside down leaves from the Frangipani, and the festive colored flower is the  Frangiapni with leaves.
I also embossed the white scalloped circles with Eccentric Circles Embossing Plate to give them more dimension.
On the inside of the card, I used the Mini Pearl French Flair die for a large background piece and decorated it with the Frangiapni with leaves and Bird on Branch 2.
The white space gives a nice area for a personal note.
I love how the Franipani doubles as a “hook” to catch the corner of the image and holds this card closed.
Be sure to check out our challenge blog and we’d love for you to play along with us on our challenge for your own chance at winning a shopping spree worth $20.00 of Cheery Lynn Designs Dies.
I hope you had a wonderful holiday.

From Trash to Treasure

27 Jun
This might sound so cliche, but I am so excited to share what I have made today!

My daughter could not find any shorts in the stores that she likes(they were all too short) so, we bought pants and I made them into shorts.  Call me a hoarder, but I have a tough time throwing anything away.

Here are the pieces of denim I cut off the pants.

A normal person would have just chucked them in the garbage.  But, I am far from normal!
I thought it would be cool to emboss in white on the denim, I tried that first, but the white actually absorbed too much into the denim.
Here you can see I have all my supplies ready to go.  I have the denim on top of some large acrylic stamping blocks for a hard surface to stamp on.
Here you can see I stamped all the supplies wanted to use, denim, Mary Engelbreit fabric, twill tape, and organza ribbon.
Here is the final product after I put it all together on come thick chipboard and mounted it on some fabulous coordinating Canvas Corp Papers.
I am using the set called:  Let your Heart take Flight.
The lettering is much darker in person,
I just had a blast making this picture.
It’s so fun to find buttons and beads to add to projects like this.
The puffy heart pillow really adds a fun touch to this.
So there you have it, my attempt to WOW you!!
How did I do??
This has been my version of from Trash to Treasure, with Jeannie from The Polka Cabana.

Celebrating America

22 Jun
It’s hard to believe that we are nearing the 4th of July, but it is just around the corner.
Right now on the challenge blog the theme is Red, White and Blue for You, so today my project is based on that theme.
I started with a canvas from Canvas Corp and used lots of Canvas Corp paper to make this adorable 4th of July altered canvas.
I took my inspiration from the Mary Engelbreit image you see on the canvas.  This was from a small desk calendar I have.  I use the calendar on a lot of different art projects.
The strip for the base I cut with the Wittle Weavers.
The swag on the white fence is called Patriotic Swag and the fence is called Victorian Picket Fence.
The small flower by the phrase is the Medium Rose.
I also used the Scalloped Rectangles and squares,
The little banner is just made from cut of squares.
So there you have it, my take on Red, White and Blue for You.
I hope you can go over to the challenge blog and play along.

Cheery Lynn Designs May 2012 New Release Dies

15 May

Well, it is time again to shout to the world that Cheery Lynn Designs has another set of incredibly tempting dies that are being released to the public today!

We have lace and fairies and alphabets and fish and flowers and leaves and so much more!

For the card below, I am using  the following new dies:

KOI FISH and LOWERCASE LACE SCRIPT.

I have also used ECCENTRIC CIRCLES EMBOSSING PLATE and WITTLE WEAVERS.

I used a play on the word KOI with my card.

The front reads “Let’s be KOI”

This is the inside, a quote that a friend had sent me and it worked perfectly for the inside of my card.

One last look.

For this card, I am using the fabulous new release die called: WINDOW C.

I had so much fun with this die.

My scene is peaking through the window, as you can see.

A closer look at the beach scene.

Instead of just using this as a window, I created a door/shutter effect by opening up the window down the middle.

When the front is opened it reveals the whole scene and the phrase.

I used the AT THE BEACH die for the inside of the card.

Here it is all tied up again.

This last project is made with a CHUNKY CANVAS from no other than the divine CANVAS CORP.

The new release dies I have used are: ONE FREE WISH and FLOURISH LEAF STRIP.

The other dies I used are :  WITTLE WEAVERS and MEDIUM ROSE.

I just love this.  It is not my normal color scheme, but it is one of my favorite things I have made.

As always, I drew inspiration from the little image in the bottom right by Mary Engelbreit.

I did lots of paper piecing on the ONE FREE WISH to create a truly one of a kind image.

Now I am just giving you a sampling of the new dies.  To see the whole New Release, be sure to head on over to Cheery Lynn Designs.com.

I would love for you to see what other things our Design Team has come up with, so be sure to go check out the inspiration from our blog.

Have a great day and thank you for stopping by, get on over and see the fun stuff in the store and on the blog!

Mary Engelbreit meets {ippity}, Polka style!!

9 May
For those of you who know my tastes and styles a little, it should come as no surprise how much I over the top, totally and forever LOVE MARY ENGELBREIT, right?
Well today I am using a card pattern I have from one of her books.
It is a tri-fold card.
Here is the front of the card.
I am using the set called Something Groovy.
One of my favorite things to do is to use my Mary Engelbreit calendars for my cards and things
I was not quite sure if I could find a picture that went along with this 70’s inspired Something Groovy stamp set…but I did! (I think the girl is PERFECT for this card!)
The center portion of the card is a pocket.
All my bright and fun paper is from
This is the saying that was on the calendar page I used, it goes perfect with the theme of the card.
Here is the card all laid open.
Here it is folded back up.
Standing up, so you can get an idea of how it is made.
This was such a fun project to make!
I hope you have enjoyed this card!

The Never Ending “Mary” Card

3 Feb
Hello there everyone…It is me Jeannie with today’s Cheery Lynn Designs post.
I am still recovering from going to CHA with Cheery Lynn Designs.  I had a blast and got to work with Cherry Lynn Designs owners, Mike and BJ Dywan, their graphic designer Viktor, and the delightful duo, Jan and Pam.
Cheery Lynn Designs was well received and I think the company had a wonderful show, it seems that everyone knows about Cheery Lynn Designs!  Hooray!
Today I am sharing a project that I have entitled the Never Ending Card.  Why? Well, I made it how the pattern said to, but I just kept adding things.
Here is the front of my card, can you see the border?  That is made from strips of the Cuties 3.
Inside the cut out square, I have the Sunflower and Ladybug showing through.
Here is a side view, the rest of the card is stored inside.
This was a very fun card to make.
The brad disguises a small piece of Velcro on the opening tab.
Here is the next level of the card.
This is so bright and colorful, I only embellished her hat and 3d’d everything else.  I used the Pretty Petal die to add dimensional flowers to her hat.
Here is the inside to the above card.
I made a pocket with another level to pull out.
Again you can see I used the Cuties 3 and the Pretty Petals to embellish the patterned papers.
This is the portion that you pull out and this houses the final part of the card.
It is a small tag that says Happy Birthday.
I have used the Fanciful Flourish, Pretty Petals and the Scalloped Squares for the tag.
Here are all the pieces..lots of pieces to make this a fun card.
All the graphics for this card are from a wonderful book I have by Mary Engelbreit.  When I ordered it, I had no idea it came with a CD that has all these graphics on it.  I will never run out now!  Hooray!
I hope you have enjoyed this, I was mainly trying to show that you can use the Cheery Lynn Designs dies to make something very cute, just a notch cuter!  I never tire of using these dies and it seems I am always finding new ways to use them
If you would like a chance to try them, why not check out the information on our challenge.  You can find all the details here.
I hope you have enjoyed today’s post, this has been Jeannie from The Polka Cabana, have a great weekend.
