Happy Birthday with RubberMoon Stamps…

28 Jul

Today my oldest son turns….23!!  I can’t believe it!  This birthday card is for him..because he loves elephants!! )

I am using this stamp, called eluvphant.

First I got all my stamp colors out.

IMG_5966

I stamped the elephant 2 times per color.

IMG_5967

I used an exacto knife to cut along the line for the ear, so I could make the ear more 3-d.

IMG_5970

As you can see, for each elephant, one got to keep the tail and heart, the other is minus the tail and heart, but has it’s ear 3-D’d. I hope that makes sense.

On the base elephant, I put some dimensional foam.

IMG_5971

The result is that you get a 3-D elephant that even stands on it’s own.

IMG_5974

Here are all the elephants ready to go.

IMG_5976

Next, to create the card base…I had the idea to make the white portion, mimic the sky by sewing random swirls on the paper.

IMG_5980

Instead of cutting all the threads, I gathered them all up and taped them on the backside of the paper.  By doing this the threads don’t loosen and become a nuisance.

IMG_5985

To space the elephants, I eyeball it, before attaching them all to the paper.

IMG_5986

After attaching everything, I added a clear Happy Birthday Sticker, and here is the final product.

Happy Birthday RubberMoon Arts Style

16 Jun

It’s birthday time of year and I thought I’d combine this post with a little gift I made for a certain birthday boy who celebrates a birthday this week!

This is to match something that he wants for his room, so although he has seen THIS project, he hasn’t seen what it matches.

I used my Deena Ziegler Sizzix Banner Die, which I totally LOVE by the way!!

Here are my papers all cut and ready to go.

I used the Mixed Media Splatter stamp on all the papers to start.
IMG_5414

For one of the banner pieces I used this LOVE stamp.

IMG_5416

On another piece I used the NEW MOON stamp.

IMG_5417

On the NEW MOON banner, I used this phrase.

IMG_5418

Here is how I cut out the phrase and moon to make them stand out.

IMG_5419

For another banner piece I used this Denise stamp.

IMG_5422

Here is the final project.  What do you think?

IMG_5427

I put it all together with fabric scraps.

IMG_5428

Here are some close-ups.

IMG_5429

IMG_5430

IMG_5431

….and  the Birthday Boy himself!!

IMG_5435

What do you think?  This was a ton of fun to make!  I love making banners and using stamps on them is such a great way to personalize them and make them more unique!

I hope you have enjoyed my post today.  This has been Jeannie with The Polka Cabana today’s RubberMoon Arts post!

Have a great week!

A Tribute to my Mom with RubberMoon Stamps

14 Apr

When our new RubberMoon Arts Team came together and we were choosing posting dates, I knew I HAD to have today for my blog post.

What is special about today.  It is my mom’s birthday!!

She would have been 70 today, IF she were still with us.

This picture was taken circa 1961, when she graduated from Acalanes High School in Lafayette, Ca.

IMG_20140406_173747185 (2)

My mom was a card maker EXTRAORDINAIRE!  She had one hobby and that hobby was rubber stamping.

I was her only child.  She adopted me with her 1st husband when I was just a baby.  So because I was her only child, when she passed away, I inherited, ALL of her crafting items!!

Some things I gave to friends, some I donated, others I kept, to have her with me always.

Her scissors…(see her name, in her writing?)

IMG_5166

Her pens….(see her initials in her writing?)

IMG_5167

…and Oh My Gosh…her STAMPS!!!  SO MANY STAMPS!!

IMG_5169

I also have  a lot of these packets that she’d have all done up with all the supplies pre-cut etc. to make a certain card. The sample was tucked neatly with all the pre-cut supplies.

Today, I am taking one of those packets and putting a RubberMoon spin on it.

IMG_5171

My goal is to stay as close as I can to her original design and color scheme, but use RubberMoon stamps.

1st step, I took the Checkerboard stamp and stamped the background.

IMG_5172

This is how it looked.  I didn’t really like it, but I knew how to fix it.

IMG_5173

Sew ribbons on it!!

IMG_5175

I added two parallel strips and sewed the edges under the card.

IMG_5177

Next, I got all the papers I needed for the paper pieced Shroom Bloom and stamped the necessary pieces.

IMG_5178

For the pieces I needed to add color to, I used Inktense pencils and a blending pen.

IMG_5179

Here are the pieces cut out and colored.

IMG_5180

Here is the little mushroom all pieced together!

IMG_5182

Now, here is a close up of my Mom’s card I was design “lifting” from.

Remember, her card was already done and does NOT HAVE RUBBERMOON stamps.

IMG_5184

Here is my RUBBERMOON “Take” on her original card!!

IMG_5186

This close up shows the little “oh la la” stamp and the tiny heart from Lindsay Ostrom’s Heart Tree.

IMG_5187

Here are a couple more pictures of the cards side by side.

IMG_5189

IMG_5192

Well, that about does it, for this long blog post.

It meant a lot, to me, to have the opportunity to do this post and use so many of her things, honor her and still use RubberMoon Stamps.

I know she would have had shelves FULL of RubberMoon stamps had she had the chance!

Thank you for stopping by today!  Remember to love those close to you….today, NOW!

Because you know what? Tomorrow doesn’t guarantee they will still be here.

This has been me, Jeannie, with today’s RubberMoon post…and telling you all about my sweet mom!

Have a great day!

Valentines Day with Rubbermoon Stamps

10 Jan

A couple of weeks ago, at work, my delightful boss and I were perusing the new Stamps, etc available to order for Valentine’s Day.  Some companies send a display board along with the Holiday Themed stamps, to show HOW to use the stamps.  My boss, Lindsay, and I were very sad what the new stamps and display boards looked like, so what did we do?  Well she ordered what she thought would work, including some fun Rubber Moon stamps and I got to make the DISPLAY BOARD!

IMG_4839

Here are some of the products I used.  I am in LOVE with Authentique Paper’s new SMITTEN line.  I used papers from Smitten for all the cards.

IMG_4840

Here is what the board looks like.

Here are individual close-ups of all the cards.  They are small cards.  They measure about 3″ x 3″.

This was so much fun to make.  All of the supplies for these can be purchased on site at Ben Franklin Crafts and Frames, Grass Valley, CA.

If you don’t live in Nevada County, you can order the stamps directly through Rubber Moon stamps.

I hope you have enjoyed this post today.  What fun things do you have planned for Valentine’s Day?

Rubber Moon Birthday Creation

27 Dec

Hello everyone in blog world.  I have a special project to share today.  This is for one of my daughters, who has recently had a birthday.

Her birthday is close to Christmas and I know she feels like she gets overlooked most years.

This year was no different, especially with her mommy(me) having to work, and therefore us needing to wait to celebrate her birthday until the following day!

So, I put a lot of effort into making a sweet card for her!!

When she was little, I called her the Purple People Eater, so I’ve made her card in purpley colors, mostly!!

IMG_4738 copy 2

The base of this card is a shadow box.  Inside I’ve used one of the 2″ Matboard squares, by inchiearts.com, to mount the Stamped Birthday Cake onto.

IMG_4738

Before I put anything on the matboard, I stamped it with the Checkerboard background stamp, using Stazon Opaque white ink.

IMG_4739 copy

I also used the adorable Oh la la stamp and Background splatter stamp in various places.

IMG_4740

The canvas star is a fun mixed media piece by LinnieBlooms.com

IMG_4741

All the other embellishments are things I had on hand at home.

IMG_4738 copy

So what do you think?  Is it a convince-able labor of love for my DARLING DAUGHTER???  I hope so!  I had a ton of fun putting all this together for her.

Be sure and stop by the RubberMoonArts blog.  The women on our team are so amazingly talented!!  You will not be disappointed.

For now, have a great day, this has been Jeannie, with today’s Rubber Moon Arts post.

Wednesday Valentine Wowzer

6 Feb
Hello Crafty Ones!
I am here to show you my I Heart Ippity project, hooray:)
I have used a lot of different stamp sets for this;)
The polka dot gift bag, I picked up over at Deena Ziegler.com.
I made a heart shrinky dink with some Grafix Arts Red Shrink Film.
Inside my gift bag is a candy filled tube of M & M’s.
Plastic tube and papers are from my workplace, Ben Franklin Crafts in Grass Valley, CA.
Now to let you know all the stamps I used, get ready….
What do you think?  Wouldn’t you love to get a Valentine like this?
I hope I have “WOW”ed you today!  Thank for stopping by and visiting.

Shopping Girl’s Dream

7 Sep
This is a little shadow box I got for $1.00 at Hobby Lobby in the clearance section because what ever was in the shadow box had been ripped off.
Knowing I would use it at some point, yep, I bought the silly thing.
I’m so lucky to have all my Cheery Lynn Designs Dies to work with. Here is what my $1.00 “purchase” turned out like.
Improvement, agree?
I took the Reflections Scalloped Circle Die, and used it as a 1/2 circle for the banners at the top.
I framed the sentiment on the bottom with Scalloped Rectangles.
All my papers are by Authentique Paper and the stamp set it called If the Shoe Fits, by Unity Stamp Co.
I think this turned out adorable and I hope you enjoyed my post today.  This has been Jeannie from The Polka Cabana posting for Cheery Lynn Designs.
Be sure and check out our Challenge blog.
Our current them is STITCHING.
