On the wings of …. a Butterfly!

14 Sep
Anyone else remember that song?  “On the Wings of Love”?
Hardly the inspiration for my card, but the title hit me when I was getting ready to write this post.
On the Cheery Lynn Designs Challenge blog our new challenge this week is Borders and Edgers.
I tried to incorporate that theme into my card today.
I am still using my New Release dies and still very much in love with them all.
I love how colorful this is.  I think it fits the saying perfectly.
Be sure to check out our challenge and join in on the challenge for a chance to win a $20.00 shopping spree to Cheery Lynn Designs.com.

Why is this caged bird singing?

31 Aug
Did you get my reference to the famous book?
I am still having a ton of fun with dies from the August New Release.
The new dies I have used on the card are Bird Cage, Hummingbird, Celtic Whimsy and Embellishment #2.
Dies that are not from the new release are Scalloped Rectangle’s, and Mini Fanciful Flourish.
I am so impressed with the intricate pattern of the Celtic Whimsy.  It cut easily and is such an impressive pattern.  This is easily one of my new favorites.
I also love the new Bird Cage.  What a gorgeous design.
Have you had a chance to head on over to our Challenge blog?
I just peeked and we are up to 41 entries already!  WOW, it’s not even the weekend yet.
The theme is anything goes.  Remember you do need to use a Cheery Lynn Designs dies in your project/card to qualify, but still anything goes?  What have you got to lose?
Have a great weekend!  This has been Jeannie from The Polka Cabana with today’s Cheery Lynn Designs post.

Joy’s Life meets Mary Engelbreit

29 Aug
Hello everyone, Jeannie from The Polka Cabana here today with a fun gift card/tag/letter etc. idea.  I hope that some of you from Close Friends on Facebook are here to visit and get an idea of what you can also do with things you might have lying around your house.  I am on a design team for a fun site called Joy’s Life.com.
All of us on the Joy’s Life DT are working with these Swatch Tag. Swatch tags are used for lots of crafters to keep track of paper and pen color samples etc.
Here is my completed project.

Here is a side view, these tags could be used as anything.

I have gathered all of mine together as a card/letter
.

I had a lot to say, so each tag is numbered on the back to keep them in order.

I used quite a few stamp sets and had fun mixing and matching the phrases to get the exact words I needed.  That is the best thing about these stamps for me.  First there are so many phrases and then if you get creative, you can make up your own by mixing, matching and splicing!

All of my images are taken from a Mary Engelbreit desk calendar.

All of my fun papers are from Canvas Corp.

A big thank you to May Arts for my wonderful ribbon.

The buttons?  Are from PaperTrey Ink.

Isn’t it great how I was able to get some sort of sentiment for each tag I made?

I am so happy to have these Joy’s Life stamps, it makes projects like this so much more fun to put together.

Here is a final peek at all of them together.
I hope you have liked my project for the day.
This has been Jeannie posting for Joy’s Life.com.
A special thank you to any and all of you who have stopped by from Close Friends!

I Love You card with Cheery Lynn Designs New Release dies

24 Aug
Hello Everyone…This is Jeannie with a beautiful card to show off some of the new release of Cherry Lynn Designs dies.
In the top left corner I have used the new Butterfly Out die.
The bird on the branch is a combination of the new Hummingbird die and Embellishment #2 set.
The delicate flower is made from the Build a Flower #2 Plate.
I’ve embellished some of the flowers and the butterfly with some i-rocks from Imaginisce, leftover from our fun joint swap with them.
My card is based on a design and products from a kit from Deena Ziegler.
I hope you have enjoyed my creation today.  I live for making these weekly creations, I really do!
Cheery Lynn Designs are magical to work with and this new release, WOW!!  That about says it all!
Have a great weekend, this has been Jeannie with The Polka Cabana posting for Cheery Lynn Designs.

Mid-afternoon Wednesday Wowzer

15 Aug
First day of school kind of snuck up on my and before I know it, Wednesday was here…I had not finished my WOW and I had kids to get to school!
I got them to school and I just got done with my project for today!
I am entering a couple of different challenges.  You can read about those on my blog.
For this card I used the following sets:
Friendship Rainbow and Gurnsey Gingham. You might now be able to tell, but the stars are punched out from the embossed pattern of Gurnsey Gingham.
I am using on of my favorite Mary Engelbreit Calendar pages for my focal point.
I hope you like my quick little card.
It is based on this sketch.
I will be entering this challenge.
This is for a challenge up on Chick Challenges with {ippity}.

Cheery Lynn Designs New Release Time

15 Aug

It is that time again!!

What time?

That time when Cheery Lynn Designs comes out with lots of new designs to tempt us with.

Here is the project I have made and I have only used a small amount of the many dies that are part of the release.

The background die is called Japanese Wall Frame. It reminds me of Frank Lloyd Wright for some reason, I just love this die immensely!

I have also used some of the Mini Dimensional Butterflies.  These are so tiny.  You will be amazed.

The sentiment is on a frame from a set called Sentiment Frame #2.

The branches and flowers are from the set called Embellishment #2.

The stamp set I used is by Inkadinkado.

To see the New Release Line of dies you can go HERE, to see them all.

Be forewarned, there are lots of temptations waiting for you there!!

Imaginisce & Cheery Lynn Designs

10 Aug
It has been a fantastic week of fun over at Cheery Lynn Designs.
We have been teaming up with Imaginisisce papers and products and our design team has been making such fun things to see this week .
Today it is my turn!!!
I have created a set of altered notebooks.
They are made from basic composition books that you can get from your local office supply store. The ones that look like this:
But with a little imagination, Imaginisce products and Cheery Lynn Designs Dies, you can create some adorable purse notebooks.
The dies I have used on these are, Flip Flops, Fanciful Flourish, Buttons 1, Zig Zag Ric RacStacker Flower 3 and Fish.
I love making these.  I think that the more bright and colorful the papers are, the better the “purse” turns out.
I also used Imaginisce’s i-rock tool to adhere some colorful hot rocks to both purses.
The large SUN KISSED DIE CUTS are so cute and the girl on the purse I think is the perfect touch!
Here is what the back of the purse looks like.
Here is the inside.
Here is the little “mini” purse.
Mini back.
Isn’t it the cutest thing?
Here is the inside of the mini.
One last look.
I hope you have enjoyed my projects today.
I have enjoyed working with Imaginisce this week.  I am a huge fan and this has been quite and honor.

Back to School Altered Notebook

4 Aug

Hi everyone…I am here with a bit of a late post for Joy’s Life.com, thanks to lots of smoke in the air affecting my little one with asthma..not a fun past 48 hours, let me tell you!
This week over at Joy’s Life.com , we are all working on projects gearing up for BACK TO SCHOOL.
I have this adorable purse to show you.  Have you seen these before????
Can you tell what it is made out of??

First of all let me point out I have made a sweet little tag from the LOTS OF PUN stamp set.

Here is a close up of the front, you can tell, but the sewing scene is all sewn into a pouch of vinyl.

Here is a side view and maybe now you can tell this is made from a simple inexpensive composition notebook.

Here is the inside.

More of the inside.

Here is a view of the back.

One last look at the front.

I didn’t have pattern for this, I just kind of made it up as I went along.
I just LOVE it!  I thought it was perfect for the whole back to school theme.
Maybe a bit fancy for grade school, but maybe for the up and coming new designer, seamstress?
Who knows!  It is just SEW DARN CUTE!!

For today I have made a fun gift set.
I am using the set called LOADS OF LOVE.
I have taken a 5″ x 7″ cotton drawstring bag from, STATE LINE BAG CO. , and have used it as a gift bag for this necklace card tag.
I stamped the heart from the stamp set on the paper and the cotton bag and then also on fabric, cut the fabric out and appliqued the cut out hearts to the bag and gift tag.
I also stamped part of the “Loads of Love” sentiment onto the front of the bag.
Adding ribbon to the front of the bag adds a cute touch.
I think it all works so well together.

I hope you have enjoyed my gift idea…NOW…..

Bright Summer Greetings

3 Aug
For my post on the Cheery Lynn Designs Blog,
I have a bright and simple card today for this hot weather we are having in California.
It you can’t beat it join in, right?
If you head on over to the Cheery Lynn Designs Challenge Blog:
the challenge is  Hot Summer Colors.
I found this image while searching for summer colors.
http://www.123rf.com/photo_1391552_colorful-abstract-background-with-hot-summer-colors-and-palms-trees.html
I liked it so much, I used it as the basis for my card.
Here is the card I have made for today’s post, based on the above design.
I used the ECCENTRIC CIRCLES embossing plate to emboss the background panels of papers first.
The leaves are from the TROPICAL LEAVES set.
The flowers are the smaller flowers from JUDY’S BLOOMS.
The word “aloha” is cut from the LOWERCASE LACE SCRIPT.
The style of the card is more clean and simple than things I usually do, but I just love the over all look and think this makes a gorgeous card!
What do you think?
I hope you have a great weekend.
This has been Jeannie with The Polka Cabana with today’s post.
