Now, let’s talk PINK!!

OK, so maybe you do not think PINK when you think of CHRISTMAS, but, why not?  The cards today will have a couple of things in common,

1 – They are all Holiday Cards

2 – They are all PINK!!

First up:  TUESDAY TRIO CHALLENGE CARD

(Remember if you’d like to WIN my card, simply participate in the TUESDAY TRIO challenge, place in the top 3 or the TOP spot, and I will Mail you My Card!)

Here is our sketch for this week.  We are on Sketch 44

Here is the Card I have done for the CHALLENGE 🙂

What do you think?  PINK and BRIGHT and CHEERY and full of Christmas/Holiday wishes.

The neat thing about this card, is that it is a HYBRID card.

I am working with Creations By Julie.

She creates some really wonderful things.  I used a template from her December Sweet Cards Template for the card above.

Any of her templates can be purchased at her store over at Ginger Scraps.

Here store is CREATIONS BY JULIE.

For my TUESDAY TRIO card I manipulated the template to suit my needs.  The card below, I used the TEMPLATE pretty much, as is.

Close up.

Right now, if you visit Julie’s blog, she already has another new TEMPLATE to try free.  If you have never tried one out, this is a perfect way to see how much fun they are.  Here is the link:

If you go on over there, be sure to let her know that her FABULOUS team-mate, JEANNIE sent you!

You can also find her on FACEBOOK.  Here is the link to her CREATIONS BY JULIE page.

Now, how do like the paper I used in the projects ABOVE?

I used all digi papers from THE LOLLIPOP PRESS‘s new DECEMEBER  MEGA KIT called:

SANTA BABY. You can view the WHOLE KIT and the December special at the link below

http://thelollipoppress.blogspot.com/2010/12/new-december-line.html

So lastly today, let me show you my Scrappy Pages I have done with this absolutely, fantastic, wonderful SUPER FUN kit. (Can you tell this is my FAVORITE?)

I love how everything matches on this post.  There is a FABULOUS tutorial over on The Lollipop Press’s Blog on how to make this adorable flower.

So you can head over there and try it out.  Once again just let them know who sent you over, ME!!  JEANNIE

A big thank you to the wonderful ladies I work with.

What does AMAZING mean to you?

19 Nov

a·maz·ing

[uh-mey-zing] –adjective

causing great surprise or sudden wonder.

As most of you know…I am a mom to many kids.  Each one of my kids has their own, outward talents.  I have one who, if asked, would say, she has no talent.

This 2nd oldest child of mine, has at times felt overshadowed by her older sibling, for his accomplishments in the creative sense.

My oldest daughter, who had been home schooled for quite a few years, is back in public school as a SENIOR!!

Whenever she has an assignment, in a class she really likes..she has always gone, WAY BEYOND what one expect.

She had a project for one of her classes, I think she needed to do a drawing of a conflict or scene in the book.

She could have done..just a simple drawing and handed it in..but no!  She did her project a’ la SOFIA.

She fretted so much about this and I am sure that she was very uncomfortable with the way her FINAL project turned out.  She is not one to bring attention to herself, but when she puts her heart into something..

**”The whole world stops and stares for a while”

This post is to pay tribute to her,  because…

**”When I compliment her
She wont believe me
And its so, its so
Sad to think she don’t see what I see”

** ~ from  Just The Way You Are Lyrics by Bruno Mars~

I created this page for this weeks challenge on The Lollipop Spot.  The challenge this week = YELLOW.

You can’t really see the detail of her picture, so here are some larger images.

One more time, the whole Image..

Sadly,  here teacher wants to keep it(sad for mom)..she also did this on poster board..so I am a little worried how it will age(weird mom!)

What do you think??  Well, that is my definition of AMAZING!!

For some unrelated news…here is a card I did as part of a Design Team Submission I did for the company IMAGINISCE.  I am hoping they will view my whole portfolio on the blog, but they asked for us to create a project using at least 75% of their stuff.  So here is what I came up with.

Side View

Parting view…

Talk about competition….wish me luck.  This would be like a DREAM TEAM…but competition is steep and numerous.  I am sure.

That is it for today…I have some fun ideas for tomorrow and next week!

Just Lollipopping along!

9 Nov

When I first heard of Digital Stamps, I thought, hmm, don’t think I will ever use those.  But, I have seen the light, so to speak and NOW, I REALLY love them.  This is a tutorial I created for my friends over at THE LOLLIPOP PRESS BLOG.  I am using one of the new lines for November called Dapper Man.  You can purchase this fabulous kit, here:   http://www.thelollipoppress.com/

Digi Stamps with Digital Papers – Hybrid Project

Today I will show you the technique I use for making a Hybrid Card.  Hybrid meaning, I have used a DIGITAL stamp, with DIGITAL paper on a NON-DIGITAL card.

To start with, I printed out all the patterns I wanted in the card on 3 ½ x 5 pieces of paper.  The paper I am using is from the new November line called DAPPER MAN.

You can see from the above picture that I also printed my Digi stamp on the papers.  I have 10 copies of the stamp and 1 with no DIGI stamp for BACKGROUND layering.  Here is a closer shot so you can see all the patterns and all the printed images.

Usually when I am doing a card or project this way, I usually print out my DIGI image on WHITE paper and use that one as my BASE.  You can see my BASE in the middle of this image.

Grab all you supplies or have them close at hand.  Here are most of the basics I used.

You will also need some ink and sponges for shading your pieces.

Additionally have your card base and envelope chosen with some nice coordinating ribbon.  I am using some older Stampin’ Up! Ribbon, I have no idea if they still sell this pattern.

Now it is time to decide what paper you want to be what piece.  Here are all my pieces cut out and ready to go.

You can see how small some of the pieces are, I have put a dime in the picture so you can get an idea of their size.

Note to self:  Even though you might be tempted, do not throw your scraps away, not matter how small they are.  You never know when you might have misplaced a small piece.

After all your pieces are cut out..start sponging and shading!

2nd Note to self..when you are done…sponging…wash the ink off…you are next going to be working with WHITE paper.  (I give you this advice from experience!)

It is time to start assembling.  Look at your image and try to see the image in LAYERS.  What will go on the bottom, some pieces work best on top, some on the bottom, it just depends on your image.  Here, the wings will be my bottom layer.

Do not worry if there is a small gap.  Sometimes your printer can do strange things…you just fill in the white space with a skinny sharpie and these gaps will go away.  My stylus is pointing to the gaps I am talking about, which will not be visible in the final product.

At this point..you just keep adding your layers.  It is like putting a puzzle together.  I love this!

Ok, here is little ELVIE all dressed up in her DAPPER DAN duds!  He is ready for spot on the card!

Here is the card all assembled with some more DIGI paper and some coordinating ribbon and buttons.

Now, add a nice phrase on the inside, and you have got one great looking, one of a kind card.

I hope you liked this technique.  I want to thank Therese Travis of http://www.etsy.com/shop/paperfacesdesigns for allowing me to use Fairy ELVIE in this project.

If you have any questions..just leave a comment!  If you love this card..it will be in my ETSY STORE later today!

Ta ta for now!!

Just Making Sure You KNOW!!!

Did you know all websites for THE LOLLIPOP PRESS are up and running?  I have been doing a lot of work for THE LOLLIPOP PRESS lately.  This has been a life changing situation for me.  I am doing and learning things I never thought I’d know how to do, thanks to my affiliation with them.  Go visit the websites!

The MAIN site is: http://www.thelollipoppress.com/

The PRESS blog is:  http://thelollipoppress.blogspot.com/

The CONTEST blog is:  http://thelollipopspot.blogspot.com/

The 1st contest is up and running and I CAN NOT BELIEVE THE AWESOME giveaway!  You have to go check it out here!  http://thelollipopspot.blogspot.com/p/monthly-prizes.html

The conditions for entering the contest are on the ABOUT page here:  http://thelollipopspot.blogspot.com/p/about.html

Please understand…although it would be great if you use ALL Lollipop Press stuff.  It is NOT a requirement.  Simply using a sketch found here: http://thelollipopspot.blogspot.com/p/spot-sketches.html

counts as a LOLLIPOP PRESS required item.  So please, friends, followers!  ENTER THE CONTEST!  I might even have to enter it also…how cool is that?  I CAN PLAY TOO!

The new lines release are called DAPPER MAN and NUTTY BUDDY.  Here are my projects so far, for these lines.

Nutty Buddy First!

This here is called a MOO.  What is a MOO you say?  It is a tiny card.  If I were to print this out the size would be about 3 1/2″ x 2 1/2″. They are very cute and can be used as calling cards, birth announcements, wedding pics, or just a written or photo greeting insert.

Next is the DAPPER MAN line.

This page is PAYBACK.

You know, I have a NICE camera..if I could keep my boys from taking it over..that would be great.  But no, I have so many pictures of my BOYS goofin’ off…I will never be able to use them all even if I scrapped EVERY DAY..which I am about doing these days!  So…”YOU PLAY WITH YOUR MAMA’S CAMERA…..YOU PAY.”  Payback is fun….they will laugh at this layout!

I have another project with the DAPPER MAN line I want to share with you, but I am waiting for the green light from the POWERS THAT BE, to post.  So stay tuned and I hope you have enjoyed the peek of my HILARIOUS kids today!

Look what you can own!!

I am in so much trouble!!

15 Oct

Ok…I graduated in 1987…Married in 1989…Had my first child in 1991…Started SCRAPBOOKING in 1992.

Since 1992, I have always done the traditional scrapbook thing.  Remember, taking a roll of pictures,  taking the film to the store..waiting for the pics, picking them up, throwing half of them away because they were lousy?

Oh those were the days.  Fast forward to now.

DIGITAL CAMERAS.

Now we take oodles of pictures, load them onto our computer and complain because we can’t afford to print them out etc.

What does this all mean?

Well, I have already announced that I am designing for a start-up company, THE LOLLIPOP PRESS.  I was brought on to be a HYBRID girl.  Hybrid girl, I will be, but thanks to JESSICA, I am really starting to get hooked on this digital process.

AGH!!!!  I DO NOT, I REPEAT, I DO NOT NEED ANOTHER HOBBY!!

But hey, this one is not messy right?  Also, this is a way to get through all those pics on the computer that are sitting there patiently waiting for me to do something with them.  I can make some DIGI PAGES, if I can print them out some day, OR I can simply do something like make slide shows on my computer put to music and this can be very cost effective.

So, I want to show you again, and will keep highlighting, my works in progress as I learn new things.  At the bottom of this post I am posting me DIGI page I did for THE LOLLIPOP PRESS, just because I wanted to try my hand at it.  Remember, my ALPHABET GIVEAWAY is still going..so if you want a chance to win a piece of art designed by ME with YOUR pictures..be sure to sign up, leave a comment on the post titled : October 12

Have I lost my touch? Trying something new, then!

On, with this post:  Here is another one of my DIGI LESSON final products.  In this lesson, I learned how to draw that brown outline around my pics, but more importantly how to make the brown out line not got through my words.  There are some techy terms I could throw at you here, but I will refrain!

Here is my Lesson 2 finished product.  In this one I learned how to make that shape in the back (the pink one) and apply a patterned paper to it.  I always add stuff that are not included in the lesson..but this is pretty much close to the lesson agenda.

Lastly if you happen over to THE LOLLIPOP PRESS today, you will see that I am the Designer of the day.  Hooray!  If you scroll down on THE LOLLIPOP PRESS page, you can see other Designers pages made with the same supplies.  The possibilities are endless with THE LOLLIPOP PRESS‘s kits.  I hope you enjoyed my sharing for the day!!

Here is my featured page on THE LOLLIPOP PRESS‘s home page.

Today, I leave with you a thought:

Every artist was first an amateur.

Just remember, we all have to start somewhere!!

I’m so proud of this!!

The Design Team over at THE LOLLIPOP PRESS, are all busy making projects with the wonderful Digital Designs in the STORE.  I am a HYBRID designer.  Which means, I focus more on TRADITIONAL scrapbooking (paper, adhesive, scissors, etc.) but that I use the Digital Elements and Pages in my Scrapbooking.  It is a wonderful combination.  I will never be able to give up the look and feel of Traditional Scrapbooking, so I am learning to use the Digital Elements to my advantage.

Here are some examples of HYBRID Scrapbooking.  Layouts and pictures were created using;  THE LOLLIPOP PRESS, SHADED CHIC line.

For those of you who do not know what “HYBRID” is.  Here is an example.  Please know, I am only a NOVICE at this and the results possible by professionals, are unbelievable.  Even with my small know how here is what I did.

Here is my BEFORE picture.

Just a lovely plain picture.

Here, I have added just a couple of digital elements, to create a unique picture.

Here again, we have a cute little picture…

Here is the same picture with just a little bit of “MAGIC.”

Once again, here is a BEFORE, picture…

and, just a bit of “WOW.”

Now, you can see how I have used the DIGITAL ELEMENTS to create my actual HANDS ON Scrapbook pages. These are not DIGITAL PAGES, they are TRADITIONAL PAGES, that I will put in a scrapbook.

Here they are together, it was hard to get a good picture side by side, sorry.

So there you have it, a mini HYBRID taste.

Please, watch the SMILEBOX to see more detail of what went into making the pictures and pages.

All of the elements I have used can be purchased HERE at this link, so head on over to THE LOLLIPOP PRESS and see the other Digital Kits that are available in addition to this.

Have a great day!

Special Day today!!!

2 Oct

Be sure to read all the way down to the last line..for my exciting news!!

It is October 2nd, 2010!

What makes that so special?  Well first, it is the “hubby’s” birthday!  Sooo Happy Birthday to him!  He is not big on birthdays, but I did make him breakfast and will make something yummy for dinner and dessert.  Whatever dessert it is, it has to be a CHOCOLATE CAKE.  SO I will have to find a good recipe!  My 3rd oldest son turned 14, 2 days ago and I still need to make his birthday dinner and dessert too!

Why can’t they just all like the same thing??

Me with the BIRTHDAY BOYS, beginning of this summer!

Today is also WORLD CARD MAKING DAY.   Click on this HERE link to get some info about this day.  So in honor of this day, I would like to honor my Mom a little bit.  I have said before what an awesome card maker she was.  She passed away in 2008, but some days it still hurts like it was yesterday.  All she wanted was to see her grandkids growing up, so I hope she has a nice front row seat up in heaved to see all the action.  We certainly put on a good show for her I am certain!

So, if she were here, I would try to be with her today and make some…..CARDS!!  Sadly, she is not, so I will do some cards today in her honor.  I have some challenges to get done, so why not today, right?

I love you mom!  You had such a talent, even though you thought you were all thumbs.  I would never have the patience to do some of the cards you made, I also don’t know how I will ever be able to part with them.  I know they are only cards and you are not IN them, so why is it still so hard to part with your worldly items?  Maybe someday for someone very special, until then, I will just hold them close.

Here she is!  The Queen Card Maker!!

Another of her with her favorite and only grandkids (because I am her only daughter!)

Happy Card Making Day everyone!!!

If you go to the IF IT’S GROOVY BLOG, there is a slide show of our team members cards to enjoy!

Last Bit of info:

I have been invited to join THE LOLLIPOP PRESS as one of their HYBRID DESIGNERS!!  Hop on over

and browse her scrapbooking items, they are very, very cute!

OK, really that is all for today!!!
