My last Gel A Tins post

26 Apr

This is a bittersweet post.  My term is up this month with Gel A Tins stamps and I completely missed the Team Call for the next term

I have had a ton of fun creating with these adorable stamps.

I have to say my favorite thing about Gel A Tins is the fact they come in this wonderful Tin.

Storage is pretty easy when your stamps come in their own storage system.

Today I am using the set called  Sugar & Spice.

I am also using the Mojo Monday Sketch # 238.

Here is my card for today:)

I looked at the sketch and knew that I wanted to try using my Mini Polaroid die for this card.

It a very simple color scheme and I think it is a fun variation of the Mojo Monday sketch.

Just using white embossing powder, I was able to keep the black and white theme for the card.

But there is never a problem with a splash of pink, right?

So there you have it:  My last card for the wonderful and generous people over at Gel A Tins stamps.

I have had a lot of fun here and hope that you have enjoyed the things I have shared.

This has been Jeannie with The Polka Cabana with today’s post.

Mother Daughter Wednesday Wowzer Time

4 Apr
I had a busy work week so far and my daughter was so sweet to try and do my card for this post. while I was at work tonight.
I will show her card after I show you the card I was able to come up with before going to bed.
It’s so much fun to get new stamps in the mail to play with.
I can’t show you this whole set, but I am using one of the sentiments, from this set, for this card.
The set is called Let your Heart Take Flight.
Since the sentiment is supposed to be the star of the card, I kept the rest of the card pretty simple.
Using paper from My Minds Eye Dolled Up and dies from Cheery Lynn Designs…I think the card is perfect for the challenge.  It also will go along with the challenge that is up on the GHWI blog, GHWI Challenge #18.
I had a busy work week so far and my daughter was so sweet to try and do my card for this post.
She tried to focus on the sentiments also, by stamping them on white.
She used the {ippity} set called:  Straight From the Heart.
Here is her card: (She is 13 & I think she did pretty good for her age group!)
So there you have it…a mother and daughter post for you today on this Wednesday Wowzer.
This has been Jeannie DeGruccio from The Polka Cabana with today’s post.

The doll is called RUSSIAN DOLL, her wings are SMALL LACE BUTTERFLY WITH ANGEL WING.

The stamp YOU ARE LOVED finishes off the card.  I also used the FRUIT PUNCH Stickles to add some pretty shimmers to this.

What happens when Authentique Paper and Tally Scrapper collide?

17 Aug

When Authentique Paper and Tally Scrapper collide, you get ME creating cards for a Tally Scrapper Challenge with all Authentique Paper, of course!

I had to post these pictures.

When I am making things, my kids are always right there by my side.

They have learned to ask if certain papers and supplies are for a “COMPANY” because if so, that means Do Not Touch!

I was busy making a set of 4 card for a Challenge on my favorite scrap place, Tally Scrapper.com

My little one saw me working with these tiny beads and said she wanted to do one. Normally I would tell her, “No, it’s a mommy job”, but for some reason today, I said, “Ok, you can try.”

I was floored that she was able to thread that tiny glass(seed) bead on the thread.

After, the first one, she just kept wanting to help.

I told her to “point” to the bead she just did, can you see it?  The card we working on is card #3 in this post today.

Card #1

I should tell you the challenge I made these for on Tally Scrapper can be found here: http://www.tallyscrapper.com/scrapbook_gallery_challenge.php?category_id=2&challenge_id=1235

For this card I used my Authentique Paper – Glowing Hours stamp.

It was hard to get a good image of this since the chandelier is stamped on a shiny silver paper.

I dangled beads from it to accentuate the stamp.

I added spots of clear glass beads and the flower is made from a really old piano book I had a duplicate of.

 Card #2

I had done a blog post about this one already.

https://polkacabana.wordpress.com/2011/08/10/i-heart-ippity-keep-it-simple/

I was going to gather the paper.  I did the basting stitch and loved how it looked all 3D, so I did not squish it down to complete the gathered look.

Here is a close up of the rippled ribbon paper.

That cute butterfly is from {ippity} Stamp’s, Thankful for You.

Card #3

I added a lot of little extras to this one.

Some exquisite fibers from my sweet mom’s things…

Some lace I gathered and sewed on the front, corrugated paper and finished off with a custom flower.

 Card #4

This card is just delightful to me.  Those are the glass beads my princess was helping me with.

That gorgeous butterfly is a Cheery Lynn Design die called, Exotic Butterfly Medium #2. The silver in the back is cut from coordinating Cheery Lynn Designs Die called: Medium #1 Angel Wing.  This die cuts the perfect background layer for the Cheery Lynn Designs Exotic Butterflies.

I added some extra dangling beads to make the card really stand out.

Don’t you think this is beautiful?

Let me know what you think of all today’s cards.

Here they all are together.

UNCOMMON is such a wonderfully fun line to work with.

There you have it…my pretties for today!

I hope you have enjoyed today’s post as much as I enjoyed making these cards to show you all!

Have a great Thursday…more fun stuff tomorrow with Cheery Lynn Designs and Cord’inations Paper!  YEAH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I Heart {ippity} keep it simple

10 Aug

Quick post here!

This is my card for the I Heart {ippity} blog today.

I am entering it in the Unity Opportunity Challenge.

The theme is Clean & Simple.

Actually this is quite hard for me to do.  This card felt very unfinished to me, but I stopped and left it clean and simple.

I used the stamp set called:

Thankful for you.

I used all Authentique Paper products.

The paper is from the 2 lines called UNCOMMON and GLOWING and unlikely combination, but it works!

So there you have it a very simple card.

Be sure to go over to the I Heart {ippity} blog and see what the other designers have made for you to look at!

Here is the link:

Wednesday Wowzers!

Have a great day and do look at the sets and check the prices!

The stamps are divine and the prices are very low for such fun, great quality stamps!

Authentique Paper, where have you been my whole life?

9 Aug

Yes it is true, I have been a little on the AUTHENTIQUE PAPER soapbox lately!

If you have not tried their products, then you really do not know why I am so honored to be working with their products!

Genius is not too small of a word for some of their things!

A couple of reasons why I love Authentique Paper so much:

Quality – Sturdy and thicker that most paper, the prints are just fabulous and there are many palettes to choose from!

Design – I love that there is such a wide range within each line.

Products – My favorite has to be the Diction!  You know the little poetry magnets that you can buy?

Well these are similar, minus the poetry and minus the magnet but heavy on the miscellaneous words you can use on everything!

Here is what they look like:

You get all those word on this sturdy cardstock type sticker and there are so many different projects you can use these on!

I wanted to let you know of a tutorial I have done for Authentique Paper on 3 different cards using my favorite line called SPLENDID.

Here is a peak at the cards:

Card #1

Card #2

Card #3

All 3 together.

If you would like (and I hope you do) to see the whole tutorial, here is the link.

Leave a comment here and there and I will tally up all comments and choose a winner to win one of these!

Winner gets to choose which one!

Once again here is the link:

Be sure to leave a comment in both places, let Authentique Paper know that Jeannie sent you over!

Let me know what you think and have a great day!!

Love to you all!!!!!

5 Aug

I had the most delightful time making this project.

Maybe it was the paper I used?
All my paper products on this are from the new Authentique Paper line called Uncommon.
I have been chosen to be one of their designers, so I am practicing using their out of this world, yummiest, most beautiful papers!
Hmmmm, think I like them?? ..Yep, I do!!
But let’s talk dies now..

I used so many Cheery Lynn Designs dies on this, I don’t even know where to begin.

I had this chipboard frame, and covered it with paper and then used the following dies to embellish and frame things.

This frame is in 3 sections and I did each section differently.
Here you can see the Authentique Paper Unity itty bitty stamp set called Family is Forever.

I used the Ribbon Eyelet Border die to make that cute accordion flower, shown above.
Below is the other stamp from the Family is Forever set.
You can also see the shimmer of my Funky Film from Grafix Arts.

I also took another cut Ribbon Eyelet Border and cut it in half and used it as a frame.
If you look at the 1st panel below, you can see what I am talking about.

Here is a side view so you can see al the detail.
This was so much fun to see and look so elegant in person.

Like I said, I had so much fun with this project and it was because I had fabulous paper and the Best Dies in the world to work with.
I hope you enjoyed my project today, see you next week.

Cheery Lynn Designs with a Japanese flair

17 Jun
Remember that Rod Stewart song, “Have I told you lately that I loved you?”

For some reason that song was running through my head as I was getting ready to write this post.

Have I told you lately how much I love Cheery Lynn Designs? Not just the metal(dies), but the people, the team, the whole kaboodle?

Keepers, all of them!

With the New June Release of dies, I wanted to do a special project to show off the dies I was using and to show Cheery Lynn how much I adore working with their designs.

Today my main focus is on the new die called:

JAPANESE LACE & FLOURISH FRAME

Other dies I used are:

EXOTIC BUTTERFLIES MINI

EXOTIC BUTTERFLY MEDIUM

HEART CHAIN BORDER

SCALLOPED RECTANGLE

PRETTY PETAL

OPTIMISTIC 1/2″ FONT

Here is my little creation:)

Can you tell this is created like a shaker card? It is a dimensional framed front, 3-D, I mean.

I cut out a rectangle in the card from, using one of the SCALLOPED RECTANGLE STACKERS and then used the JAPANESE LACE & FLOURISH FRAME to frame the cut-out.

I added dimensional foam along the inside of the frame and attached a false back.

Maybe if you see the inside card front, you can get a better idea of what I am talking about.

Here is a close up of the inside of the card. I framed the sentiment rectangle with the inside leftovers from the JAPANESE FRAME.

The inside sentiment is cut out with the OPTIMISTIC FONT. Konnichiwa means HELLO in Japanese.
Now be sure and visit over the CHEERY LYNN DESIGNS blog next week or so.  All of us on the Design Team are going to continue to showcase these fabulous new dies.
Have a great weekend and hope you get some crafty time to yourself!
This has been Jeannie with THE POLKA CABANA with today’s post.

The Four Seasons with Cheery Lynn Designs

27 May
I could not be more proud of my post today.
Really.
I had some scrapbook pages all completed laying around, in my way and collecting dust.
I finally decided to get those pages into a scrapbook and started putting them all in an album.
The pages that were not for my 2 youngest ones were going in a book for me.
Since most of the pages are about me,
I thought it’d be appropriate for it to be MY album, wouldn’t you agree?
Well, I put them all in the album and I thought,
I need a 1st page, a title page and INTRO page.
I needed it to be generic enough for all the wacky things I put in it.
I started thinking this book is about me throughout the year as each season turns into another.
So, for this intro page, I have incorporated an
ATC for each season and then created a layout with all 4 ATC’s.
Here they are:)
SPRING

SUMMER

FALL

WINTER

Here is the completed layout.

Of course I used a lot of the new dies on this layout.
(see list at the end of this post)

I love how elegant the new flowers and flourish are.

I had pictured in my mind using the Garden Gate in this manner.

Hopefully you can see what I was going for..

The gate stays the same, somewhat as the Tree and scenery change behind the gate with the different seasons.

I hope you have enjoyed me sharing this with you.
I truly could look at it all day.
Have a great weekend and don’t forget about the BUTTERFLY CHALLENGE. Have you submitted your project yet?
This has been Jeannie from THE POLKA CABANA, ta ta for now!

In the near future, I will be hosting a Membership pledge of  my own to rally some newbies up for the Tally Scrapper site.  So be on the look out for my giveaway when I do that post.

Ok, now I am going to get to my real post.  The other stuff was just VIP info I wanted to pass on to you!

As the May Tally Design Star, my guest blog post in going to be a small peak in to my crafting space and a short

TRASH TO TREASURE project.

Here we have a before pic of the main part of my craft room, my craft table.

I know, WHAT A MESS!!

I was driving myself crazy with the current set up.

(hmmm, I wonder why?)

I tried to have EVERYTHING within arms reach and it was all turning into one gigantic pile of MESS.

I decided to take a shot of the whole messy table, as I was starting my organization brain child project. You can see the beginnings of my paper piecings in the lower mid section of my table.

I started with 2 empty plastic shoe boxes, available just about anywhere.  I have about 300 or so of these lying around, at least it feels like it!

Nothing fancy, just plastic. Toss the lids!

I used some leftover wall paper borders I had, border stickers, decorative print papers, washi tape, laminator and strong adhesive.

All the products are attached to the outside.  I made each side one at a time and laminated the pieces before adhering them to the plastic boxes.

Here are the final products.

A view of the other side:

Here we have them all put back together, with my fabulous organizing skills. *insert snickering here**

Hey, I have my scissors in one area, sticky stuff in one area and other related stuff I try to group together.

They look pretty on my table.  They are one of a kind.

They match my decor and they make me happy.

The cost?  NOTHING!  I had everything already to just put it these all together.

See how they match my table?

Confession, yes, I decorated the table too!

There you have it, a peek into a small part of my crafting space.

You’d have thought I would have taken a picture of the whole area all tidied up?

No such luck!

I forgot and you would not want to see it now!  Some other day I will finish the rest of this story.

Maybe I will even tell you the story about my TABLE makeover…oooh, doesn’t that sound like a Best Seller?

My unofficial challenge is to look around you.  What do you have the supplies already for?  What can you make without going out and buying a thing?  If you create something be sure to send me some TALLY MAIL and give me a link to go and see!  I have something up my sleeves, I just need to find the time to deliver…

Maybe I will surprise you this week!

Well that is enough rambling from me!  Go out and have a great weekend!

Bye for now and thanks so much again for my Tally Star month of May!  See you in the galleries!
